OK I got two actors ( pilot and refugee) and have them in allied company. How can I fix it so that the names I want to give them will show instead of "pilot" and "refugee" when I place the weapon reticule on them? Will I need to rename thier atr.file or can this be done through scripting?
Also want to take an enemy prisoner and need to know how to ID him also.

when you place the .atr on the map in IGOR in the bottom right corner there is a place to change the actors name, weapon kit, etc. If you change the name there that will change the name you see in the game

I must be missing something. When I place the actor on the map I do rename them but when I place the reticule on them they still show as pilot and refugee.

That's for Igor only.

The atr-file has the name-tag for in-game, which you can change. Just copy the atr-file to your mod-remove write-only-edit it.

OK that was easy enough.........thanks. I suppose I can make changes the same way to the player controlled AI if I wish?

If I want to capture an enemy officer and want to ID him with the reticule. Since he is an enemy in the enemy company how will I go about it. I know how to make him surrender, I just want to ID him with the reticule.

yes you can do that to player controlled ai but there are 76 actors in the riflemen folder, 59 in the demolitions folder, and god only knows how many in the rest, so changeing all those names would be a time consuming task, as far as the enemy captive I dont think you can I.D. him with the reticle

Yeah that does seem like quite a task for sure. Maybe I can just change the hero's. I could name them achilles3503....san...gav80 or snipe21. I promised claudeboy I would include him also so I have him as a downed pilot to be rescued. Just having some fun.I have found that I would rather fool around with making new missions than playing.
Been awhile since I played mission 1 but it seems like papshivilli (forgive the spelling) or whoever he was could be ID with the reticule but I'm not sure. I'll go look to see for sure. Anyhow thanks for the help.

OK I went and took a look at pappy in mission 1 and he was not ID with the reticule. I guess maybe you can't unless he is in the allied company but then you could'nt expect him to be hostile toward you.

I got my explosions down-pat now but trying to figure the scripting to kill all in the blast zone when the demo charge goes off. So far not been successful, anyone have any input here?

I appreciate all the help so far.

Hostages can be identified with IFF, captives not.

And for enemies, you'll see the atr-name only when you killed him. Like 'kuebaldy eliminated a rebel'. 'a rebel' is the atr-name.

Use the damage-effect after the explosion-effect, with same delay-time as the explosion has.

You got the effect-list ?

Yeah san....I do have the effect list...thanks. Hey lap......buck up there buddy. I need to get back to spamming a little more cause I do have lots of free time. I have actually been looking for a job but not much out there for wore out salesmen. Of course since I am drawing unemployment insurance each week it's hard to get real motivated toward finding something
