Hey everyone, I have been wanting to mod games for a long time. I have made maps for Half Life/CS and that's pretty much all that I know. Anyway, I have 3DSM which I read is good for making maps and I want to know what else I need, and if there are any good sites for newbies like me that want to learn how to mod.

On the Desert Siege expansion cd is an 'Extras' folder with files you need for modding and some tutorials, too.

OK I have all of them and now I am looking at this one thing called Level_EditorExporter and it has 2 *.zip files. One is called Max3x_Levelexporter.zip and the other one is called Max4x_Levelexporter.zip.

I am thinking that this is for 3DSM (I feel a duh no **** coming on ) but anyway I have 3DSM 6 and I'm not sure if it will work with it. If anyone knows if there is one for 6 or if I should just use the one for 4 then tell me (bah I read this and it didn't make much sense... If you need me to repeat anything or rephrase it tell me).

As an alternative to this forum, you can try to check the www.ghostrecon.net foruns. I think there are some good modders posting there, maybe they can help you.

It will not work with 3DS Max 6, they WILL work with version 4 of 3DSMax.
I am talking about the plugins.

plugins work with version 3.x - 5.x of 3dsm.
