Is it possible to add new character classes when making a mod?

I found a mod that makes all the player characters female, but it replaces the male soldiers. I'm wondering if it's possible to make a mod that lets people have the standard (male) Rifleman/Support/Sniper/Demo, but also adds 4 additional classes which are Female Rifle, Female Support, Female Sniper and Female Demo.

Is this possible?

I'm with Paul on this one. Why do you want to bother?? After all, Astra Galinsky still goes in the "Sniper" class, and Lindy Cohen goes in the "Rifleman" class, etc... Why do you want to alter it?? You want to give the women smaller, lighter guns so they don't get tired?! (Note to all women reading this: that was a joke!!

If you create a specialist, when you create the *.chr file, you can set the class. There's no reason why you couldn't give this specialist any category you liked (eg "Coward" class if you wanted to). The only thing this alters though is what appears next to their name in the soldier selection screen... If you wanted to do it for general (ie, not specialists) soldiers, that'd be harder. I think you could do it, and create four kits for that class to carry, but I'm not sure exactly how you'd do it. You should be able to work it out by looking through what Red Storm have done when they created the game.

But I don't see why you'd want to bother.

I know what you mean...I 've worked on my mission for the last couple of weeks and every time I am full of joy when it works, but now it crashes and that really p1sses me off as I cannot find out why...
