This may come as a shock to some, but believe it or not, I'm having a bit of trouble with some mod-work...
Does anyone know what could cause a new gun to work properly in the game, but show up as a grey image, rather than have the proper texture on it? I'm adding a few new guns in to my mod, and I can't seem to get them to have the proper look in the game. The annoying bit is that I think I must be missing something obvious, as all I'm doing is transferring some guns from another mod (with the author's permission, I hasten to add!). Paul? You make guns... What am I missing? It's like I've got the shape of the gun right, coz the "silhouette" shows up in grey, but there's no colour on it. Other than that, the gun works fine. It shoots, it's got the sounds, I've added the weapon on to the "strings" file so the name shows up right and the kit icon works... Just this one stupid glitch! Should I have a RSB picture of the gun or something? And, as a separate problem, I'm having a bit of trouble with my "unlocked hero" file. In the campaign, you get no specialists until you unlock them. That's working fine, and as you go along unlocking specialists, they become available in the next mission of the campaign and the unlocked hero file is updated. But when I try to do a quick mission, I get no specialists available...? Any clues?!? Finally, I'm reworking the basic standard kits for the mod - rifleman kit 1 etc. This is working with no problems, but after scrolling through all my kits that I've specified for the mod, you then get all the other kits that are availble in GR/DS/IT. I don't want users to have to scroll through 50 kits or whatever, and the missions I've designed are set up (in terms of difficulty etc) to run with the ten kits I've allowed for each soldier category. So, does anyone have any idea how to remove the extra kits, so that players can only choose from the kits I've allowed? They're the only three problems I'm having on a full campaign mod that has ten campaign missions and two "bonus" missions, and reworks some of the guns, all of the kits and features a few new weapons. So I don't think 3 problems is too bad, but they're starting to annoy me now! Any help would be much appreciated... |

It sounds like you need the texture file for the gun. It should be in the textures subdirectory, hopefully with a recognizable name.

That's what I thought, but I couldn't find it... Although I was doing that fairly late on last night, so maybe I missed something somewhere...
No ideas on my other two problems I take it? Where's San when you need him?!? He's done quite a bit of modding and might know... |
