Another quick question. How do I use the Follow plan step? I tried to make one vehicle follow another, using the same path, but the following vehicle didn't move. Is this only usable on actors, perhaps?

Thanks.

The plan step "follow" is for vehicles only - not for actors.

You have to give a vehicle the plan step, and assign another vehicle for it to follow (at a certain distance). You can't have an actor following anything, and you can't have a vehicle following an actor. Make sense? Plus remember you have to set a distance for the vehicle to follow at.

If you did all that, then I'm not sure why it didn't work. Did the lead vehicle move as planned? Did the following vehicle have a driver if required (note that only some vehicles require drivers) - a vehicle that needs a driver (eg a jeep) won't move without one...

If none of that helps, try using the plan step on different vehicles to try and find exactly where your problem is. Don't really know what else to suggest...

For the following vehicle, the only plan step I had was Follow. I think I need to add a Speed step.

You shouldn't need to... It should travel at whatever speed is appropriate to maintain the separation distance that you set in the Follow plan step - or as fast as it can if it can't keep up.

What vehicles are you using? Tanks, trucks, or what?

I was using a Truck M35 to follow another M35. The 1st truck had a path to follow, but the 2nd didn't follow the first.

Well, if the first truck moved off as planned, I can't see why it shouldn't work... The second truck did have a driver assigned, right? And the "Follow" step was in the plan for the vehicle, not for the driver? Did you position the second truck behind the lead truck, so they were all set up ready to go?

If you've done all that, then I'm outta ideas... Have you tried using the Follow plan step anywhere else? I'll have a play tonight, see if I can get it to work on mine - it's difficult to think about exactly what you do when Igor isn't right in front of you!!

Yep! The follow step only works on actors.
I have used it to make actors follow vehicles, don't no if it is possible for actors to follow actors either.

Uhhh... My bag, I apologise profusely. I've just read an Igor tutorial that says the Follow plan step is for actors following other elements (eg infantry escorting vehicles)...

That may explain why it doesn't seem to be working for vehicles... Sorry J - I thought I'd used it for vehicles, but obviously not! Hammer

Np, Gav. I tried getting a vehicle to follow another vehicle again last night with no luck. Now I know it's intent. It'll be nice setting up infantry to escort vehicles.
