I just bought the game through Steam

and on my first attempt to load the game, it just crashes, the splash screen shows up, it goes black, and then crashes to desktop.

my specs are

AMD 4400+ 2.2ghz
2gb PC3200 Ram
7800 GTX
WinXP Home
Nvidia Driver: 6.14.11.9038
not sure what the issue could be.
