I'm sure my problem echoes many of what everyone else is experiencing, but I am having a ridiculous amount of trouble with multiplayer. It freezes the xbox 360 up often to where I have to manually turn it off and back on. There are horrible issues with lag. Occasionally I have died and gotten stuck on the view of my body and can't respawn. There are a lot of "host has ended session" errors even when the host is on another console, sitting right next to me, and he didn't end the session. I love the single player, but for $60, I'm VERY unhappy with this game. The software is unacceptable buggy.

In the Shanghai mission, when you make it into the hotel room and have to crack the safe for the NSA. I make it to the safe and select the crack function, the safe cracking screen appears, but I can't turn the dial at all. I tried checking the controls, I tried the arrow keys, every key on my keyboard I can't get the dial on the safe to turn either way.

Platform: PC Title: Splinter Cell Double Agent System requirements met, Nvidia XFX card, patched to latest as of 11/15/06 these have likely been reported before, but for the record, and in order of severity: 1. Unlockable equipment does not show up in inventory. ever. 2.safecracking usually doesn't work (the controls left and right won't spin flywheel); I've discovered that if one activates and cancels safecracking repeatedly, one can usually get it to function correctly, but it's very hit-or-miss. 3.Detection for using ledges and ventilation shafts is touchy. for ventilation shafts it's VERY touchy - if you don't tap the 'forward' key just right, facing at, but not too close to, the shaft, you won't crawl in. ledges are a bit touchy, since the movement increments have apparently changed since Chaos Theory (it's difficult to get Sam to move as fluidly as before, as tapping the arrow keys causes much more movement than it did before)but ventilation shafts are extremely sensitive. Zip lines and poles are ok, generally, but again, because the increments of motion on the keyboard has changed, it's harder to line Sam up with a pole or zipline without moving too far or facnig the wrong way. I've been playing these games for a while; definitely a difference from CT and the other two. 4.Load last save button won't always load the last save, sometimes it will load the 2nd to last save. Upon exiting and re-entering the game, one cannot press quickload and load the last quicksave, one must re-quicksave in order for the quickload button to work. I know that's confusing, but play around with the savegame system, and you'll see what I mean. Game rarely, if ever, loads an autosave checkpoint upon death if 'load last save' is selected from the 'game over' menu. 5. There's an area in Shanghai, one floor above the professor's room, in which one can fall through the floor, or walk through the wall, resulting in death by infinite fall. simple clipping issue. 6. 'Alt' button can no longer be bound to a function. Why? speed-up/slow-down can no longer be customized, one must use a mousewheel. I don't have a mousewheel; I'm using an emulator to simulate one, which works fine, but speed is controlled in increments anyway, It would be nice to be able to bind it to something else. 7. No ballistic trajectory for sticky shockers - is it supposed to be that way? 8. Sticky camera cannot be 'reconnected' with, if one cancels out of the sticky camera view, there's no button to switch back to a sticky camera view. One could do this in CT, is this on purpose or a bug? 9. The 'looking through goggles' lens edge warp from Chaos Theory is also in this game when using a vision mode, but the 'goggles dropping over eyes' and slightly reduced field of view from chaos theory is gone - why have the edge warp effect without the other effects? Also, night vision no longer blooms and blinds when facing bright light, as it did in CT and PT - it's no longer impossible to use night vision in the day, it's just ugly colors if you do. Ok, ok, so this one isn't a bug, it's an observation, but that's why I listed them in order. I will also post this in the main PC help section, because I have a big ego and need to be noticed. I don't see how to report a bug over at http://support.ubi.com ... what link do I click on? Anyway, there's a spelling error in Double Agent, where "losing" is spelled "loosing" in several places. You'd think someone in QC would catch that.

This is a complete cut and paste of all the bug-reports I've provided you with in the "Splinter Cell Double Agent PC discussion - How to report bugs/glitches... " forum.
Think it's more appropriate to actually post it all here in the Community Help Forum. Posted 18 Nov, 2006 14:34 Hide Post Further bugs I haven't seen mentioned before: 1. Sam get's stuck tent-corners in ie. Okhotsk and Kinshasa, aswell as crate-corners and at the very first door that opens vertically so you can begin the Training Course. To get "un-stuck" you'll need to stand up and move. Sometimes you even need to raise Sams movespeed to get past the problem before crouching again. This will likely expose Sam to enemies or make you frustrated. 2. In Kinshasa, I see shadows, apparently caused by a non-existant lightsource in the sand, gettting cast at a wall that is actually above you - This is IMPOSSIBLE! Although I'm not a programmer, I guess some objects lack proper reflection properties - maybe this ssue? enhances performance a bit, but it certainly drops the overall graphics score a bit, since the graphics are otherwise flawless and beautiful ***SPOILER*** Still the graphics are really splendid, especially the character-detail, except Lambert in the cutscenes - he DOES NOT look like Lambert at all, not even when he's in the interrogation room. This certainly disappoints me since he's the 2nd most important character in Splinter Cell, which I consider to be one of the best games EVER created both regarding graphics/effects AND gameplay aswell as replayability - a point that really makes me feel like I've spent my money wisely!) *** END SPOILER *** 3. The interface (already mentioned a bit) The load/save interface really isn't very user-friendly: * 1. When you wan't to load a particular quick-save, you only have the time as a reference for how far you've gotten, not a screenshot or some text telling you what objectives still needs completion. * 2. After reaching a chechpoint, if you mistakingly hit F8 to quickload a savegame saved prior to the checkpoint, the checkpoint is gone forever. * 1. It seems the developers had some good initial ideas as to how this interface should work, but there really is no reason to list "Savetype", as checkpoints are not listed anyway, and the Manual Save option doesn't even let you pick a name like "Kinshasa Part II - Beginning" to sort out the problem a bit. * 2. When the clock is 5 minutes past 10, the clock is not 10:5 - it's 10:05 ! * 3. After picking the save you wan't to load by clicking on it once, the savegame isn't highlighted anymore, giving you feeling that you really don't know what you're doing in the menu or what savegame you're about to load. * 4 Sometimes it even loads a savegame from a whole different mission, although the image above still shows the mission you want to load. 4. The Opsat I bet if Sam had an Opsat in real-life, he would be using a touchscreen? Well, I don't have a touchscreen so I'll have to rely on my mouse or the keys. The mouse-marker, however, seems to be missing as long as it's not hovering over an option. Reading the Profile info on the JBA members can take a long time since the different types of info are really hard to select. ***SPOILER*** 5. The 100% Stealth completion problem The game is hard if you want to do it 100% and it should be, to keep things realistic! Still, there should be a way to do for instance the Kinshasa mission at a 100% stealth rate while also rescuing hostages and Hisham Hamsa without having to knock-out or kill anyone. At least, if you can make the 2 executioners follow you around to the streets, leaving the hostages unguarded, Sam should be able to, after jumping to them over the wall, tell them to run... maybe to the house on the right. This could trigger a cutscene or some event that would make the executioners skip the execution because they are needed elsewhere, but it seems the only way is to let them get killed, FAILING an NSA objective. ICELAND I play the game on hard settings and take pride in completing the game on 100% stealth rate. When reading the mission debriefing it says "Times identified as intruder - 1" - when I click on "Times identified as intruder" it fckn reloads the mission. It doesn't tell me that a camera caught me, or that John was the intruder - is John the intruder, 'cause you could say he did get identified as one, or what? *** END SPOILER *** LASTLY: I doubt it's really the Shanghai branch's fault that the game has been released with so many bugs; Double Agent includes A LOT of new features... the new hacking interface, the safe-cracking, the winch, fingerprints and a lot more. The improved character detail, especially the swimming part, is really working great! All of this undoubtedly requires a lot of skill and work to be done. I doubt Ubisoft would hire anyone with inadequate skills (they've done so many great things in this edition! ), but I also think Ubisoft did a pretty nasty job when they decided how to fund the developement of the PC version - the PC version which is - and will always be - the BEST PLATFORM to showcase some really great effects and graphics. *** SPOILER *** Shame on Ubi ! - hire some more people to do the job or delay the release until the game is actually finished - WE ALL KNOW you're already working on the next Splinter Cell - but DON'T disregard all those bugs and issues that really do make the Splinter Cell Series hit the floor a bit with this Double Agent "beta" release. *** END SPOILER *** Thanks for listening. Posted 18 Nov, 2006 14:58 Hide Post *** SPOILERS *** Some more things/bugs i noticed: 1. The left door of the double-glasdoors leading to the elevator to end the 1st part of the Cozumel cruiser mission is screwed up. It seems to be a swing door/another doubledoor misplaced so you somehow has got a triple door? ... anyway, one of the guards will get stuck which will make it nearly impossible to get to the elevator unnoticed. WORKAROUND - HINT: Don't wait for them to leave the room after their conversation has finished. Move up on the left side of the double-glassdoors. Crouch to the left door. 1st you need to close the door (due to the bug) - then you can open the door. The guards will notice something. Move back to the left of the double-glassdoors and wallflatten. The guards will leave the room, just giving you time enough to sneak past them and into the elevator to reach the checkpoint. *** END SPOILERS *** 2. Why can I no longer return to the view of a diversion camera after I have left it's view through the Opsat? I obviously can't sit in the middle of some room while triggering the Diversion sound. Another thing regarding the Diversion Camera: Are the guards deaf? The guards need to be at least within 2 meters distance in order to hear it. In Chaos Theory it was a really cool and useful feature - you could press the 4 or 5 key to switch to Sticky Camera view from I believe anywhere on the map, but why no more? Same goes for the Sonic Grenade - it needs to be thrown right at their feet if you want their attention, but mostly they'll disregard it totally anyway. Throwing a Sonic Grenade in some direction because you'd want to lead guards there, wont work. It seems completely random how they'll react if you think about their position in relation to where the Sonic Grenade went off. Posted 18 Nov, 2006 15:04 Hide Post (edited today 21. November 2006 approx 1700 Hours CET) BUGREPORT: Although I have 2 GB memory and the windows Swapfile is set to initial 2GB and Max 4GB - windows wants to - in the middle of the game - resize the swapfile since it's too small. I really doubt this game needs that much memory! While windows does this the game slows down like hell until you close the game and lets windows do it's thing which will also take some time. I bet this is a programming error. (Edit: i've notified my firewall vendor of this issue (Ashampoo Firewall (free)). The firewall seems to be the culprit, although since the game is so buggy, I doubt it a bit. The firewall reports "out of memory" before windows wants to resize the pagefile. The only solution so far has been to disable my network adaptor before turning off my firewall, since I don't trust the "internet" that much that I'd stay connected without being firewalled. Haven't seen the out of memory/windows needs to resize pagefile - error after shutting down my firewall and disabling my networks adaptor! To those who want to play the multiplayer part, this is of course inappropriate (i'm not on of them - not yet at least) - so I encourage Ubi to test SC DA with Ashampoo Firewall to see who's the culprit, and for gods sake, just fix it one way or another) Posted 20 Nov, 2006 10:19 Hide Post BUGREPORT (ai-script): If you rush from the 2nd last checkpoint in Kinshasa Part 3 - getting from the destroyed tower to the downed chopper, the guard that is supposed to burn when he leaves the chopper will block the only way through the chopper. He can not be knocked out, grabbed or killed by a frontal approach. I have not tried killing him with my pistol or sticky shocking him, since I'm going for a 100% stealth score. There are plenty of bugs of this sort, especially in Kinshasa. Here's another one (ai-script): After having saved the woman on bus, if a guard spots something (you) without identifying you as an intruder, it seems the guard will not drive the truck inside the Base at the Radiotower even if you're not identified / red at any point - and getting through the minefield seems very tricky without the missing vision-modes, heat- and wave-vision, although it is possible. This might not be a bug. Another bug (stuck in object) After having left the radiotower by using the wire and having dropped down to groundfloor, there's a bus you need to go through to stay in cover. The bus' entrance seems to get you stuck if you touch the sides of the bus-door. I can confirm the issue with save games being deleted after having received the message, that the Storage Device is not available. The game would run smoother if there were no quicksave option, and instead a checkpoint listing in the save menu for each mission. Posted 20 Nov, 2006 10:30 Hide Post *** SPOILER *** Bugreport (ai-script) Getting down by using the winch from the roof of the palace without grabbing the guard and choking him while hanging on the winch, seems to have the consequence, that the guard guarding Hisham will not talk to Hisham, which gives just enough time to release and escape with Hisham. HINT/RESOLVING BUG: Drop a smoke grenade right in front of or a bit to the front-left of Hisham before releasing and escaping with Hisham. Posted 20 Nov, 2006 12:25 Hide Post SAVEGAME- AND CRASH FIX SAVEGAME FIX ! The savegameproblem seems to occur only to the checkpoints and the quicksaves. Saving the game manually through the [Save] interface clicking "New Save" ie. everytime you have reached a checkpoint, solves the problem of missing save-games. CRASH FIX ! Splinter Cell Double Agent crashes to desktop giving me the following info of what was responsible for the crash: AppName: splintercell4.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: d3d9.dll ModVer: 5.3.2600.2180 Offset: 00089dda Solution: Crashes to desktop seems to be more frequent on overclocked videocards, meaning your GPU power is inadequate. To resolve this problem, you should set the detail level and resolution to a lower setting. Posted 20 Nov, 2006 13:16 Hide Post Hisham's a retard ! Why can't Hisham simply do exactly the same as Sam after being untied? Does he have to take the long way out of the palace in order to escape? Why can't Hisham knock-out a guard or two when we're escaping? He seems to be incapable of doing anything but running. Posted 20 Nov, 2006 15:41 Hide Post BUGREPORT: *** SPOILERS *** In the last JBA mission if you've killed Jamie, there's really no reason why Sam should stand up everytime he enters a new room. If you had killed Lambert, it would make perfect sense to try not to look like a spy by sneaking around like one. Posted 20 Nov, 2006 21:20 Hide Post Another bug (ai-script): If you, in Kinshasa part 2, clear the right side (the part behind 1st tank), and then move to left side passing the dying handgrenade man (past the checkpoint), and then decides to go back instead (because it's impossible to get onto the buses because the Gov. troops have no enemies and therefor won't move), some rebel will respawn right behind you, right before the corner where the exploded car (was hit by tank). He will go on immediate alert and kill you. TO END THIS - I HAVE A CRASHREPORT, I'LL POST TO: (the data I'm supposed to send to Microsoft Why? Anyway: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?> <DATABASE> <EXE NAME="SplinterCell4.exe" FILTER="GRABMI_FILTER_PRIVACY"> <MATCHING_FILE NAME="binkw32.dll" SIZE="338944" CHECKSUM="0x4E4E7E04" BIN_FILE_VERSION="1.5.21.0" BIN_PRODUCT_VERSION="1.5.21.0" PRODUCT_VERSION="1.6c" FILE_DESCRIPTION="RAD Video Tools" COMPANY_NAME="RAD Game Tools, Inc." I have an issue with SCDA on the PC. The game loads fine until i try to load a level. It Will freeze and have this error in the background:
Trying set non-registered vertex shader. Microsoft visual C++ Runtime Libary. Runtime error This application has requested to terminate it in an unusual way. Im running on an AMD Athlon 64 3400+ 2GB RAM ATI ASUS RADEON AX800 XT PLATINUM (DX9) Any help or new driver update for this game will be very helpful, Thank you. emthree_kia@hotmail.com |

Your video card, ATI RADEON X800, does not support Pixel Shader 3.0 - only Pixel Shader 2.0.
Pixel Shaders are a hardware feature and can not be updated through software. 3rd party rumors say that there will be a patch included in Windows Vista that would allow people to play "Pixel Shader 3.0 - Only" games Pixel Shader 2.0 hardware. This thread lists the requirements to be able to play the game: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/3651075192/m/2951089894 It also says so on the back of the cover, but unfortunately not everyone knows what a pixel shader is. |

Pixel shaders
Pixel shaders ? or "fragment shaders" in OpenGL nomenclature ? are used to compute properties which, most of the time, are recognized as pixel colors. Pixel shaders are applied for each pixel. They are run on a pixel processor, which usually features much more processing power than its vertex-oriented counterpart. As of October 2005, some architectures are merging the two processors in a single one to increase transistor usage and provide some kind of load balancing. As previously stated, the pixel shaders expects input from interpolated vertex values. This means there are two sources of information: Uniform variables can still be used and provide interesting opportunities. A typical example is passing an integer providing a number of lights to be processed and an array of light parameters. Textures are special cases of uniform values and can be applied to vertices as well, although vertex texturing is often more expensive. Varying attributes is a special name to indicate a fragment's variant variables, which are the interpolated vertex shader output. Because of their origin, the application has no direct control on the actual value of those variables. Branching on the pixel processor has also been introduced with an extended pixel shader 2 model but hardware supporting this efficiently is beginning to be commonplace only now, usually with full pixel shader model 3 support. A pixel shader is allowed to discard the results of its computation, meaning that the corresponding framebuffer position must retain its previous value. Pixel shaders also don't need to write specific color information because this is not always wanted. Not producing color output when expected however gives undefined results in GLSL. Pixel shaders have been employed to apply accurate lighting models, simulate multi-layer surface properties, simulating natural phenomena such as turbulence (vector field simulations in general) and applying depth-of-field to a scene or other color-space transformations. from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixel_shader |

PC Version with Patch version 1.02.000
1. I have problems in several parts of the game where I fall through / walk through objects (falling through the grate in the very first mission - when trying to access the panel on the missile I fall through to the bottom - had to restart level twice to get around this bug). I've fallen through the ice several times in the super tanker mission too - had to eventually swim to one of the holes and walk around the bit of ice (fell through near another hole but not over the hole)). Could walk through the platform near the bow of the ship - allowed me to walk right off the ship into an infinite fall. [crashes - SplinterCell4.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience). 2. Putting the quick opsat on (default key Z) crashes the game every now and again. 3. Quicksaving the game (default key F5) crashes every now and again. 4. Quiting from single player crashes every now and again. 5. Safecracking - sometimes the directional keys work and sometimes they don't. Most of the time they don't work (couldn't get notes in the one mission because I couldn't open the friekin' safe - penalised because of this). 6. Loading my saved games doesn't always work (when I won't to load a save prior to the last save)...sometimes it works and other times I have to restart the game before I load. Saved games should be sortable by date or % progress or something - ideally with a screen shot). Are any of these problems actually being resolved? Seems as if I can't play for longer than 5 minutes without this frustrating issues - by far the most buggy PC game I have ever played. |

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. Online Co-op I'm having problems starting or joining a coop match online. It does several things. First you can't click on any match that is there because they are greyed out. Second if you can click on a match and try and join then it says you were unable to join. Third if you try to join a match or create your own it has on several occasions told me that my CD key is being used by someone else. I downloaded a patch for it the day before yesterday but all that did was make it possible for me to try and join a match. Many other people there are complaining of the same thing. |

Hi Community Manager,
No doubt this forum needs to be cleared out, but hey, what do you want without sub-sections? So this board is for all platforms and all games from the Splinter Cell series? Wouldnt it be much better to have seperate boards? .... I`m angry because this is all decent support I get, and its not even coming from Ubi but the other users who were struggling without you! Your official support site does not mention even obvious problems which were reported here. I`ve bought Double Agent for the PC two months ago and still I cant play it in singleplayer! Spend days trying to solve it and you didnt either with two patches. |

I would like to play Chaos Theory on Vista. Unfortunatly, the launcher refuses to launch, warning that the game is only compatible, with the previous versions of Windows.
Can we expect a patch to solve that? Notice that compatibility mode didn't work. |

Product: Splinter Cell Double Agent v1.02 Game Mode: Solo Mode Configuration: P4 3.0 GHz; GF7900GS 256 RAM; 1GB DDRII RAM #1. I play the Iceland mission with full display options and not a single glitch. Then after the game starts loading the prison mission the loading cut-scene starts lagging, the second loading screen is on,and I hear Lambert speaking. Right after that I catch a glimpse of Sam in his cell and the screen goes black, as if I have detached the monitor from the GPU. I can't navigate at all,but I still hear the sound of the game. In order to get my PC going again, I need to do a reboot. #2. Same sequence, but instead of no feed, the PC reboots on its own Power and money aren't important for a person. It is their quantity that defines the person's existence. |
