Hi, I'm currently looking to switch my current processor
AMD Athlon 64 3500+

with this new processor
AMD Athlon X2 64 3800+ but I will admit this openly, I don't know **** about processors and don't want to put money down on this one if it won't work with my computer. Based on what my current processor is will the new dual core processor I'm looking at work? I have a 939 Pin Processor Socket, and don't want to get a new motherboard.

Thanks for the help
Jackal

At first glance i would say yes it would work as long as your motherboard supports dual core processors for the AMD X2. What make and model is your motherboard?

You would have better luck asking for computer tech help on Tom's instead of here on a video game tech support forum.

I see they both use the same socket so that is good. You still need to check out your motherboard to see if it will support the chipset. The bus speed will be different so you need to find out if it will support the new one.

Look at it. There should be a lable on it or it will be painted on there somewhere.
