So I decided to replay Pandora Tomorrow and something about the game's lighting/shadowing seemed a bit off. Like I'd be in an area that to me looked completely dark, but the light meter would indicate I was standing in light. Then in Jerusalem, I really started to notice that lots of lights were missing their, um, light. I compared to some YouTube playthroughs and indeed I'm missing a TON of lights and shadows.

Couple searches later and I see that apparently this is a common or maybe even universal problem with newer hardware/drivers. I tried the Use32BitTextures setting some threads mentioned and it did nothing.

I've got a GeForce GTX 285 and Vista x64. By the looks of things I've read so far, it seems like I'm screwed and there's no way to fix it on my system. Is this the case, or is there some magic, little known fix that will get the lighting working properly?

You can try and reduce the resolution to 800x600 and lower the brightness, but it is still going to look washed out.
