If you look at the sticky items above, I have requested a headcount for users running into certain problems with SCDA. If you are running into one of those problems, I cannot stress enough that I need you to post a simple "yes I am running into this problem" reply.
Other items I have noted that appear but not as common as those listed above are: 1. Saved games not loading correctly. 2. Conflicts with SLI configurations. 3. D3D9.exe when starting single player game. 4. Video Settings not being saved properly. 5. Game installs, System Meets requirements, Game does not launch. If you are running into another type of problem, post the information here. If have a problem and you see that somone else has already posted on this thread, use the quote function and state you are also running into this problem. Please note, if you have a complaint or you would like to state an opinion, you have all the other threads in this forum to state them. Please do not post them on this thread, I need information only. |

#5 - Attempting to play the single player game, Windows simply states that Splintercell4.exe has run into a problem and needs to close.

When it finishes loading Okhotsk, it needs to save for some reason, but it can't and gives me a "buffer overrun detected" error. -- My computer specs are too leet for your eyes -- __________________________ Nobody move! I've lost me brain... |

Yeah #5 for me
Whenever I try to play multiplayer, all it pops up is unreal technology, after 10 minutes, same screen. Single player works fine 60% of time, but sometimes it may not open either. |

All the unlocks in the PC version ARE NOT unlocking. I do the objectives, and I still get nothing.

My problem is in Multiplayer, whenever I load into a mission the camera just keeps spinning around my player and won't stop. Very annoying

I don't have SLI but I have Crossfire and it doesn't seem to benifit from the second card at all. The performance I am getting is extreamly low for a X1900XTX and adding the second card does nothing for the performance.
I have clicked on the DA icon and the game just froze before it even loaded. my desktop was froze and task manager said that DA was not responding. I have also had the problem with the settings not sticking. For one I noticed that the game will set itself on next gen no matter what I do. Also, if I don't use the back arrow to exit out of the menu back to the game and instead hit escape the menu will close and then my computer will reboot. Another thing that is strang, if I turn off HDR then all I can see is sam's outline. The rest of the screen is black. If I leave HDR on then everything looks as it should. I also noticed that minimizing the game and then going back to the game will cause it to crash sometimes. Also the affinity must be set manually for dual core processors because the game is not capable of running correctly with two CPU's and the game was not set to recongnize the CPU and turn off the second core on it's own. According to UBI the game was made to support dual core so my guess is that they messed up big time and their optimizations are not working. One last thing, I get between 10 and 20FPS with an X1900XTX and it doesn't matter if I turn off HDR or AA or AF or add a second card. It doesn't matter if I turn off optimizations in the control panel. Heck, it doesn't even matter if the screen is showing nothing but sames outline, the game will not run above 20FPS. AA works thanks to the patch but the game is unplayable to me. By far this is the buggiest game I have EVER purchased. I have never had this many problems even with betas. |

The demo works alright in Vista, so on XP I made a shortcut to Vista's exe, and when I use that it runs fine on XP, bypassing the buffer overrun error... weird... maybe it's something to do with Vista's installation? If I try to run the exe directly on XP or Vista I get the "CRASH - MUST CHECK" error, so I just use the shortcut with -ll added to the end of the target line. -- My computer specs are too leet for your eyes -- __________________________ Nobody move! Just a quick update on what I wrote previously. While the game does not work with this setup there are a few work arounds for people who are interested in at least running the game on a system similar to mine.
Dissabling Crossfire is not enough. You must manually remove the second graphic card from your computer case or the game will stay in the 20FPS area the entire time. Each time the game starts you must quickly press control, alt, delete and find the splintercell4 process. Right click it and select affinity. Uncheck core 1 and then return to the game. This will get rid of the stutters. Go to the ATI control panel and set CAT AI from standard to off. This will fix the problems with lighting. Do not ever control, alt, delete out of the game in order to change a setting because it may crash. If you are in the game menu to change graphic settings always press the back key in the menu because pressing escape to exit the menu can cause the game to crash or your system to reboot. Also you may want to go to Microsoft's site and download the October release of Direct X. If you are using an ATI graphic card you should do this because the version of Direct X that came on the DA disc causes the game to run slower at least in my case reverting back to the October release caused my frame rate to go up some. As for the crash when the game is first being launched as well as the game crashes while you are in the game and problems loading saved games, I have no idea how to get around these problems. BTW if you are using an X1000 series card or a crossfire setup and you see nothing but black outlines try enabling HDR and AA at the same time it displays everything correctly when I do that. This is with the first patch installed for the game. If you do not install the latest patch then AA will not work. |
