Ok so here's the deal, I have bought a game from Steam created by ubisoft. This game that I purchased happens to be Splinter Cell, and for some strange reason it will not run on my computer, I have contacted Ubisoft with this problem and they said they didnt have any information for Vista so they told me to go to the forums and that is why I am here. When I go press the Icon everything is fine, then User Account control pops up (doesnt happen with any other game)then it goes indirectly into a little rectangle on my screen, I can hear no sound. I go to click on ethier multi or single player and it will say (Splinter Cell4exe. has stopped working)<-- for single player SDCA_Online.exe has stopped working. So I am pretty frusterated at this point Smash could somebody please help me?

So you are trying to run Double Agent?

Have you installed the DirectX 9 redistributable?

That made it work for me.

Also, I find it funny that we are more useful on the forums than Ubi's paid support team is. Big Grin

Pretty mad because ive had the game on my PC for like 6days w/out playing it nobody but you has been able to seriously help me im trying the DX9 download now

Vista only includes DirectX 10 which is not backward compatable with DirectX 9 which is why you need to install it since so far all the Splinter Cell gamse are DirectX 9. Then you should be fine.

Go to http://download.microsoft.com and find the directx web setup. Download that and run it.

Once it installs all the updates, SCDA should work.

Usually it's dead online from what I have seen.

Some people still play it, but not regularly.

What is your video card?

Also, have you installed DirectX 9 like I showed the other guy above?

There is a FAQ at Ubi about the 8800 series card for this game - being you are running the next gen for that card, maybe this will work -

Turn off HDR within the game video options. If HDR is left enabled, the background of the 3D environment will appear distorted with different hues of color.
