Alright I will go ahead and ask the question all of you have asked before me in this thread.
UBISOFT and the moderators of this forum, how can we fix the runtime error described fully by 'kirchengarten' in the initial post for this thread??! If you don't reply then it just plainly shows you are avoiding patient and loyal customers. The platform I am having this runtime error with is PC. As a paying, not downloading, customer I demand the kind of support you avoid to supply us with immediately. If I don't receive a reply I will be sending a written letter to your head office where I will ask this same question and show my dissatisfaction of the level of (well non-existence of) support in this forum. To top it all of your support website NEVER works, its always flooded with complaints and questions so I can't ever contact you directly. You also haven't supplied an email address for us to send emails to you, shows how rubbish you are really! Suck on those apples |

I just clicked SplinterCell4.exe and also got the must check error. I hadn't tried this before.
I use the SCDALauncher shortcut and that loads the game just fine. Do you have the same error with that ? Oh and altough the game 'loads' fine, that's where the fine ends. This thing has more bugs than a rotting corps and I'm very stuck at JBA HQ3, never had so many crashes ever. |

well yea its actually easier if you created a shorcut on the desktop i think ubisoft is the dumdest corporation now i recelntly requested for help on getting the help for the hard jump level 6 and they wouldnt help me at all they suk well anyways whoever knows how to get hard jump 6 for splinter cell chaos theory can you help me thanks

If you're getting the CRASH **MUST CHECK** or Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Library errors, try downloading and installing the DirectX end-user redistributable released 3/7/2008, available here as directx_mar2008_redist.exe. This DirectX redistributable includes all of the available DirectX 9.0c runtime versions.
First, apply both SCDA version 1.01 and 1.02 patches, available here, before installing the DirectX redistributable. These patches are for the US version of the game ONLY, but if you have a non-US version, you can run SC4UpdateLauncher.exe found in C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent\support\UpdateLauncher. directx_mar2008_redist.exe is a self-extracting archive. To install for Win XP: -- a. Log into Windows with full Administrator privileges, and close all open applications. -- b. Download directx_mar2008_redist.exe to a folder on your hard disk, NOT to the Desktop. ----- 1. Click on the language you want in the Change Language: list, then click on the Change box. -- c. Use Start > Run to run it, which will extract the contained files. ----- 1. Click on Start > Run, and browse to where you saved directx_mar2008_redist.exe. ----- 2. Double-click on the file to put it in the Open: box. ----- 3. Click on OK to run it. -- d. Disable all anti-virus/adware/spyware/pop-up software running in the background. -- e. Again use Start > Run to run DXSETUP.exe from the extracted files. This will install the DirectX redistributable. -- f. Reboot, log into Windows with full Administrator privileges, and close all open applications. -- g. Disable all anti-virus/adware/spyware/pop-up software running in the background. -- h. Start SCDA. May help, may not, but it's worth a try! Heimdall Semper ubi sub ubi This message has been edited. Last edited by: Heimdall G, |

Welcome to the Forums!
Suggestions, to do in the order shown: 1. Start the game by double-clicking on the SCDA Desktop icon, which you should have selected to create at the end of game installation. -- a. Do *NOT* use the DVD RUN SPLINTER CELL DOUBLE AGENT menu item! -- b. If you did not create an SCDA Desktop icon during installation, create one that points to "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent\SCDALauncher.exe" and starts the game in "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent". ----- 1. Right-click on a blank area of the Desktop, and click on New > Shortcut in the resulting drop-down menus. ----- 2. These paths assume that you installed using the defaults. 2. Apply both SCDA patches or run SC4UpdateLauncher.exe, as detailed in my post of Fri March 16 2007 22:17, above. -- a. Before applying the patches, reboot, log into Windows with full Administrator privileges, and close all open applications. -- b. When patch application is complete, start SCDA by double-clicking on the Desktop icon. 3. Download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package released 4/10/2006, available here as vcredist_x86.exe. -- a. Click on the language you want in the Change Language: list, then click on the Change box. -- b. Install as detailed for the DirectX end-user redistributable in my post of Fri March 16 2007 22:17, above. -- c. When installation is complete, reboot, log into Windows with full Administrator privileges, and close all open applications. ----- 1. Disable all anti-virus/adware/spyware/pop-up software running in the background. -- d. Start SCDA. 4. Download and install the DirectX end-user redistributable, as detailed in my post of Fri March 16 2007 22:17, above. -- a. Click on the language you want in the Change Language: list, then click on the Change box. -- b. When installation is complete, reboot, log into Windows with full Administrator privileges, and close all open applications. ----- 1. Disable all anti-virus/adware/spyware/pop-up software running in the background. -- c. Start SCDA. Heimdall Semper ubi sub ubi |

Allright...
Will try to follow the steps described. Now One more thing: I´ve Buyed ALL the Splinter Cell releases for PC. Chaos Theory is great! But i want to be able to make mods for the SINGLE PLAYER GAME, with storyline, New maps, new animations... not a total conversion, just for people that like it, and doens´t want to play over internet. I know it´s somewhat off topic, and even for Chaos Theory... But can you answer me? Thanks! |

Arrow_strider.
Please make a new post for your question as it is of subject here. There is no known way to mod the SP game. But there are several great user made maps for SCPT and SCCT available. ____________________________________________________________ Sig / Avatar Guidelines | Community Help | Patches / Video Drivers / Maps | Terms of Use | |

In an effort to fix what is known to be broken, let me explain why you get these errors.
Ubisoft uses an in house proprietary format to store all of the game data known as lin (that's why you have .lin and .hln files in your game install directory). The problem is that this procedure is obviously not implemented correctly, and causes more problems than it resolves. This seems to be an attempt that Ubisoft is using to get around not having to use star force (so that their Unreal game data is not exposed). To fix the "Must Check" issues at start up, you must pass the -ll argument to the game. This tells the game to use the lin files (Linear Localized Data) that was developed last minute, instead of looking to the normal places for the data (\Textures \Maps etc etc) So to sum it up, make sure you use the Launcher for the game to play the game, as it should pass the -ll argument for you. If it does not, then create a shortcut to SCDAOffline.exe and add -ll to the end of path file. The game should then continue to load fine. As for crashing on save, or crashing/not having a load file, this also has to do with the encryption the game tries to write with the save file/compression. The game seems to then not always know how to read/save this new format, as it is not the traditional method of saving Unreal Engine game data. Hope this helps! I support community MOD's. |
