I;m getting the same error aswell, 6800GS 512MB VRAM

I sometimes get it, sometimes don't.

Radeon x1900xt 512mb.

EDIT: It appears that I only get it when running the .exe directly. If I use the desktop shortcut it works (that is, loads the menu, I can't actually play though). The desktop shortcut has -ll at the end of the target line... whatever this means, it seems to fix it.

EDIT 2: Hmm, works fine with Vista... but I don't want to restart my computer every time I want to play... and when I quit, it froze and I had to restart.

yeah i got it for the SP demo, nvidia 6600gt 128meg 77.72 drivers, also same error with 84 series drivers(had to downgrade drivers because mercs torchlight didnt work properly with newer drivers)

I had the same error and this is how I got around it:

Go to the games offline system folder and create a shortcut for the splintercell4.exe file. Then go to the properties of the shortcut and at the end of the target path, add -ll (as log). Like this: "C:\Program Files\ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent\SCDA-Offline\System\SplinterCell4.exe" -ll . After that double clik on the shortcut and it will hopefully run!

me i got it the thing is i was able to play it i got up to the chinese level the one when u have to stabilise the chopper ok. i played it and my screen turns off again and again in dif places i have to restart everytime this happens very irritating then when i try once more it says cant spawn sam or somthing then when i press it again still withought restarting i get this error. if i restart i get sam error then if i press .exe again this error it worked better without at patch >< but ye please help

That's a bummer man...

I've waisted too many hours of my life and lots of reinstalls, trying to get this game to work, so I hoped this 'trick' might have helped you guys. Let's see if it works for anyone else...

I can finally run the game thanks you so so so so so much

I got must check error, tried with adding -ll in the shortcut, doesn't help. DX up to date, mp works, but low fps.

Was running DirectX 9.0c, got error, ran Direct websetup, still getting error.

My shortcut already had -ll. Tried it with and without, same behavior.

Glad I didn't buy this on day one, I'd be disappointed. The day this is resolved in the demo is the day I'll buy it.

Yes I also have this problem as well.

AND 90% of the time I cannot launch multiplayer, it freezes at "unreal technology". Please fix this ASAP!
