I went to the Microsoft DirectX main page and updated (I had 9.0c already and never a problem in the past, but figured I'd check again) from there.. had to go through the 'Windows Genuine Advantage' check.. as much as I hate microsoft I consented.. long story short, I had about a 3 meg download to update my DirectX.
I started the singleplayer and it's working so far. I've only started and exited and figured I'd post with an update.. goin' to try playing now..

Had this problem, I downloaded the october6th directx9.0c and the problem was fixed.

nvidia 6800gt. tested with 4 different drivers. problem stays the same even after updating directx from the dvd and cycling through the different drivers.

edit: tried the singleplayer-demo and got the 'MUST CHECK' error again.

edit: from what i read at other boards, and the ppl who post here, it seems to me, that it is a nvidia-problem only. maybe there is a problem with the current available driver(s).

I too installed the newest directx from microsoft. apparently 9.0c isnt = 9.0c. now i can get into the game. havent played yet but hey. what else could go wrong ;-)
