The javelin web site says that there has been 3 test flights to date and after reading some of the threads here IguanaKing said he could get ahold of some video footage. i was wondering IguanaKing when were you going to post more video of the test flights.
I really like the concept that ATG have built with this aircraft, A fighter style aircraft for civillians. I was also wondering what options you can get with aircraft like HUD or more powerful engines to reach mach + speeds Do you have a final price for the Javelin as every web site i have seen it mentioned quotes a different price. Cheers. |

Hi sqn12,
The video I'll be getting next will be video from several high-definition video cameras used on the ground and in both the Javelin and L-39 cockpits. I won't be posting those videos on the internet as they are HUGE files. However, once I get the video compilation from my buddy at ATG, I'll be offering to burn CDs (or possibly DVDs) for anyone here who is interested. It may still be a while before I have the video though, since the material on it has to be approved. Also, ATG is extremely busy with the test program, so my buddies there haven't had much time lately to edit the videos (something they are doing on their own time). My involvement is on the technical end of things such as certifying the instrumentation systems in the Javelin, so I don't know the official price, but it is estimated to be $2.5 million at this point. It started off much lower, but the demand has driven the price up. Last time I checked, ATG had firm orders for over 70 aircraft. I'll try to keep everybody updated when I can, but I'm often out of my office and many times even 60 miles away at places like the AF Academy when ATG tries to inform me of their next flight test. Many times I come back to the office to find that I have already missed the flight. Thanks for your interest in the Javelin. "To be afraid of living is to be afraid of dying. I was wondering what runway length the javelin needs to take off and land. That could be a hard sell for this aircraft if many suburban airports cant handle landing the Javelin.

Is this because of company marketing or something else? Because I cant imagine how much secretive it will be if civilians are going to get it. ------------------------------------ No money, No wife, No car, no Job... Well...there is also a certain amount of industrial espionage that they have to be concerned with at this point since it is still in the test phase. Production is not scheduled to start, upon successful completion of flight testing, until 2007.
Sqn12, I'll have to ask around and see what the takeoff roll is. Centennial airport has 2 nearly 10,000-foot-long runways, but we are also one of the highest municipal airports in the country. Is there any chance that you could get some pics or video of the cockpit in full working glory or atleast fully powered up.
I would love to see it. |

Count me in for the video, Id gladly pay for it. Big fan of the plane. I have a picture of it as my desktop

SWEET great shots but do you have any pics of a finished javelin. I realise industrial spying is a concern but I cant wait to see this aircraft fly to its full potential.
Can you get a HUD system for the civiy version at all. Thanks for the pics again . |

Iguana, your familiar with the new T-38C?
My brother is fying them in Laughlin AB. He complains about the laminar wings and the Ejection seat. The seat is so crappy that the instructors there said if anything goes wrong at low altitudes you better actualy keep inside the aircraft! The laminar wings require angle of attack at all times to obtain any lift. Aditionaly by the time the wings are stalling, the rest of the plane has long stalled also. It feels like the plane is being kicked as it shakes up an down. ------------------------------------ No money, No wife, No car, no Job... Hi guys,
Still no video yet, but here's a link to an article about the Javelin and future plans. With any luck, I'll be working for ATG full-time once production starts. http://www.airportjournals.com/Display.cfm?varID=0511013 If you notice the technician opening the access panel behind the cockpit in the bottom photo... in the production models that will be for baggage. In the prototype however, that's where the FDRs are located. "To be afraid of living is to be afraid of dying. So.... Can I send that disk yet? LOL

So I know I'm a little late on this, but I just found out I live minutes away from the production plant.
Any idea when they are going to start building them and if there are tours available? |

Lt., are you living in Colorado again? Last I heard there were two possible locations for the production facility, either FTG or APA.

No, in Oklahoma. I read a news article that said they were going to be building them at the Luscombe plant. I'm guessing that info is incorrect then?

Yup, that's incorrect...but it seems to me that they were originally going to have their production facility outside of Colorado, so Oklahoma may have been the original place. That was the main reason I didn't seek employment with them when they were starting, too many family here. But...just found this out...they have selected FTG for the site of their production facility. Heh...I guess I'll be looking at houses near Watkins now, which is actually kinda cool. Its nice and quiet out there and housing prices are lower. I'm hoping to be their instrument guru once they get up and running.
