The Aircraft Carrier USS Ronald Regan left the port of Brisbane last Friday...
Yesterday It was reported on all of the National News services that a SuperHornet had crashed somewhere off the East coast of Australia (Pilot ejected safetly). The remaining fighters were diverted back to Brisbane Airport to refuel before returing to the carrier.
Does anyone have an update or more information on this story???

Thanks for the heads up. I know a number of CVW-14 pilots, so I'm particularly interested in this story.

Here are some updates (thanks Google News).
Quick recap: About 200 km off the coat an F/A-18 C (not super hornet) crashed while attempting a night landing. The cause is being investigated.

Thanks for the reply

I noticed the reason for the crash is still unknown....

Sorry about getting the aircraft wrong.
I didn't think the Regan was deployed with any 'Legacy' Hornets.

The Legacy Hornet will be deployed in regular numbers untill the F-35 comes online. Its the Tomcat that is no longer in use and the Super Hornet is replacing.
