Some of the planes were tested out, dissected and such. I think most were spare parts for the German Luft -29s. Smile

That's kinda interesting - I saw that getting off the shuttle bus at Nellis back in November. I took a picture of it, but I didn't have my good camera out so it wasn't that clear. It's interesting to know the back-story on it - I wondered why it was sitting there all falling apart.

This is the MiG-29S variant. Their former operator was the AV-MF (Soviet naval aviation). This unit was based under the Black Sea Fleet's command.

I believe they got 24 of them, to keep the iranians from getting them (?). Makes no sense, as IIAF has about 50 and can afford new ones of any variant it wants.

Seems like they would have made useful additions to the aggressor units....even if we had to contract mig to maintain them. The navy contracts a civilian co to maintian and fly the F-21 kfirs. would be the perfect op force machine, at least a dozen or so. the luftwaffe has since sold all thiers to poland i believe, but htey spent alot of time at nellis and fallon i think as opponents.
