Well, I don’t have any, but do you?
I just saw a post on how to put a Targa Picture As PWL, maybe a link here or an explanation here would be nice. Anyone have any other tips? Come on, share. Tip 1: Don't make a single player map that from the start of the game, it looks like another player can walk up and take their starting town. The computer player hides in it's castle.
I made a sp map using the masking tool to seperate the areas. The computer saw my castle and ran into it's starting town and stayed there. I used the same map pattern for multi-player but I used a visable barrier and in hot seat the computer plays normally. Tip 2: If you don't want to use the tile/object buttons to de-select an item, use the esc key. Tip 3: Sometimes when you place a random town and give it a town bonus. When you play the map if that town doesn't have the town bonus in it's design. The next time you open the map in the editor, you will get an error that the town has no bonus when you save it. When you click on the town, the bonus is empty but the town's bonus name that was selected is still there. Tip 4: Sometimes when placing new players, the map will change to teams when you play it. That's all for now. |

If you want to fill 100% when using the tiles like grass etc.
Click the soft button, when you want to go back to the original fill, click the hard key. Also if you leave the fill percentage alone you can make a stone road then a road over that. (using the grass tiles) Witch will make a worn road. |

very nice never thought of that. my general map making tip is to place all of ur mines and artifacts first (after the castles). then add in everything else |

If you want a body of water to appear to have 3-D depth, fill the bottom with Lava/Deadland teraskin, then switch to Deadland_2 and redo the outter 2/3 radius. Change to Sand/Rock and change your brush to 3/5;Hard;Str-4 and quickly click around the water edges. Make a few clicks here and there, that lead toward the centerline. This will give the illusion of shallows and gullies. Practice it. It really works.
PS...What is a PWL? |

DeejMaster,
Cool idea for water. My water so far looks like just patches of flat blue. And my raised areas look like layer cakes :-) "PWL" is "Please Wait, Loading", the graphic the player sees while loading a scenario. Customizing that is a bit awkward but there is a thread with links about it. Yoof |

Adendum to above: oops, Pitsu's post above has the link to a HOWTO for customizing your PWL screen. It's the one that says "good idea, here...", which answers a suggestion a couple posts earlier. It's good to use complete sentences once in a while :-)
I had forgotten which thread I was looking at. Yoof |
