Now....the time has come to explain something to all here...MODs included

About ten months ago, I was made an offer by a pblishing company, a small house, but one that does have a rather large distribution.....

I showed the ditor a little research I had conducted....he was interested enough in what i showed him to make me a promise....

No one pays me for this research....it's part of an effort to write a new 'general' history of WW2, concentrating on the SUB service and maritime affairs as the crux of it's synopsis....

My own views into how a history should be written of such a wide ranging and complex subject as WW2...but two ideas came to my head....

the first was that to write a GENERAL history, it was not necessary to simply do a narrative...all we had to do was to 'highlight' general themes with specific examples, in the format of the ESSAY...a potable 'piece' that focuses in....and then draws away as the main themes take over again....

It was this format.......this "capsule", short essay format that I decided to write my manuscript in....

The essays presented here will form the body, in part and sometimes holesale, but each and every essay was constructed with this objective in mind....to also be able to connect the essay, to 'plug it IN" to a wider theme covered by the body of the text.....

It was this 'format' that we have experimented with here....

successfully in my view.......attention spans for each subject make every essay something you 'bite off' and digest, before moving to the next one....

All thats required from then on, is to 'link' the different threads into a continuos narrative, working with the general 'themes' that have been espoused at the beginning of the book......

So...that is what i now wish to do....

having successfully proven to myself that this format to appraovch and 'explain' a complex subject like World War 2......i would now like to pull together the various 'threads' to be able to 'join' them together in a manuscript form....

A manuscript that you may see published....

so...this is the reason...and to end the petty squabbling over 'content'....you onece told me you had "plenty of room"....

I'm a little dissappointed really....we were just getting started on some very interesting stuff concerning .......

Nimitz, no need to leave. I am sorry I reacted to your posting manner I just found it a little bit over the top when you made a game of our Zhukov debate, it looked like you were mocking us and our sources!

Anyway if you decide to go if you want to save your threads just save each page on your computer, go to (I use Firefox) file-->save page as--->then you have a choice "web page html" will save space over "web page complete."

(singing)

It's nine o'clock on a saturday...
And the regular crowd shuffles in.
Theres an old man sitting
next to me.
making love to his tonic and gin...

he said "son can you play me a melody?,
im not really sure how it goes,
but its sad and its sweet, and i knew it complete!,
when i wore a younger mans clothes!"

la la la......dinni nah....
la la dhha nah...neh NAH!
Sing us a song,
youre the piano man!
sing us a song tonight,
well were all in the mood for a melody!
and you got us feeling alright!

Now John at the bar is a friend of mine,
who gets me my drinks for free,
and hes quick with a joke or to light up my smoke,
but theres some place that he'd rather be....
he says 'Bill I believe this is killing me!,
as the smile ran aw-ay ...from his face,
But Im sure that I could be a movie star!,
if i could get out of this place!

Ohla la la..ninne nah.....

Now Paul is a real estate novelist,
who never had time for wife,
and he's talkin with Davey,
whos still in the navy,
and pro-ab-ly will be for life!

AND the WAITRESS is practicing politics,
as the businessmen slowly get stoned,
yes their sharing a drink called LONLINESS,
but its better than drinking aloooone!

Sing us a song....

Its a pretty good crowd for a saturday,
and the manager gives me a smile,
cause he knows that its me,
theyve been coming to see,
to forget about life for a while...

and the PIANO sounds like a CARNIVAL,
and the microphone smells like BEER,
AS THEY SIT AT THE BAR,
to put BREAD in my JAR,
and say MAN what are you doin' HERE!

Oh lah la la...

Sing us a song,
youre the piano man,
sing us a song tonight,
well were all in the mood for a me-o-dyyyyy!
And you've got us FEELI'N alright...!!!!

Thumbs UpBILLY JOEL....PIANO MAN

NIMITZ;

I'm so sorry for not responding to you IMMEDIATELY! .....I occasionally indulge in the luxury of five or six hours of sleep.

If you want to copy your material from the forum, ....simply go to the article, highlight all the text, and click "Copy". You are then free to "Paste" it into a document on your computer.

Once you have done that, you can then select the "Edit" option on your post, and "Delete" the content.

...And on the larger issue:

You said in another thread: " ....but I have had enough of the 'squabbles' from the mods... i make very few if any personal attacks on this site my conduct is at all times considerate......"

First off; ....The Moderating staff only gets involved when a user is violating or seriously "bending" the Terms of Use. If you are unable to deal with their input, then this is DEFINITELY not the forum for you.

...And as far as "my conduct is at all times considerate" is concerned; ......Ask kaitenvet about that! (I can only assume that this is some odd usage of the word "considerate" that I have not encountered before.)
