Sorry been a long time but here it is.
After a breakfast of rubarb and orange marmalade with her ladies in wating, Jade went back to her rooms and, with out her maid knowing, sliped back into her normal clothes( tank top, green jeans, sneakers, jacket, headband) and sneaked out of the room ever so quietly. She sliped past the servants in the hall and bypassed the gaurd at the door. She was headed for the garden.She jumped the low wall seperating the garden from the palace and walked casually through the exotic flowers. There was no one there but birds and squirells running up trees. She found bench and sat down to think of where Pey'j and the kids would be. She hadn't been thinking long when a girl, a little younger than herself, with brown wavy hair, green eyes, and long legs came by. She wore a frayed blue tee shirt, faded jeans, and bare feet; her hair was in a braid down her back. She looked at Jade and stared. Jade stared back and finnaly said, "What are you staring at?" The girl said nothing but began running down the path to the gate at the end. She jumped the gate with out breaking stride. Jade hesitated a moment then ran after her. The girl led her down an alley and through streets. Jade followed her to a park next to a pond where the girl stopped and looked back at Jade. "Why have you followed me?" "Because you looked at me as if you know something and I want to know what. Will you at least tell me your name?" "Sonya, and I don't know anything, at least nothing of consequense." "A lie if I ever heard one," Jade muttered."My name is-" "Queen Shauni, I know." Sonya interuppted. "Acctually, my name is Jade. They just call me Shauni." "Queen Jade?" "Just Jade, and you still haven't told me why you looked at me so weird in the garden." "You don't know? The nobles are using you. They think they can control you and they have the means." "What do you mean," Jade said warily. "The nobles who swore fealty to you at the coranation have your Uncle and kids held captive. Oh, they're treated alright but they're still prisoners." Jade's eyes widened at the news. Now she know why she couldn't find her family. "Do you know where they're being held?" Jade asked nervously. "Right under your nose, in the palace. In the high tower that no stair goes to." "If no stair goes to it, how did they get there and how will I?" "Simple, you use the power passed down through your bloodline. The Captain of the Guard, his name escapes me, is your cousin and has the power to lift things, and people. For short amounts of time at least so they must have been raise one at a time." "How do you know all this?" Jade was suspicius. "I know a lot of things, Jade. And if you ever need my help again, I'll be right there." She winked, and raised her right hand, snaped her fingers and vanished. Jade looked around but couldn't find Sonya. She headed badck to the palace the demand her family back. She hoped the fence and once more sneaked back to her rooms. In her room was a very angry looking Daneil. "Your Majesty, where have you been and why are you in those....clothes?! We've been looking everywhere for you." "Where is my family?" Jade asked without answering her maid. "Well...I...uh" she stammered and trailed off. "Never mind, where is the tower with no stairs?" "In the east wing Majesty." Jade took off at a dead run to the east end of the palace, pushing past nobles and servants alike, most looking at her as if she's gone mad, others pretending not to notice, and others who didn't recognize her as the queen. She found a locked door at the end of one of the endless maze of halls. She banged and pulled on it, finally fed up she used her power and blasted the door. She looked up a to see a passage that would be a stair case if there was one. The passeage went all the way around the tower and at th top was another door. Trying out her power, she levitated herself to the door and blasted it open to find Pey'j and the kids sitting forlorn on the floor of the cramped room. They looked at her and smiled. "Jade! You found us!" Shouted Fehn, running to her and hugging her. The other children followed suite. She left they're embrace after a moment and went to her uncle and hugged him. "Good to see you Jade." "Yes, good to see you, Your Majesty." A voice drawled from the door. It was Lord Harbord, the most senior Lord of Court. He was tall, broad shouldered, bald, and wrinkled. He wore a brown suit and boots. He leered at Jade and her family. "So glad you found our little hid away, because this is where they stay, forever." To be continued. |

Sorry. I plan on fixing that.
|
||||
|
In fact, I'll fix it now. I've nothing better to do.
"You did well, Highness," said Lord Harbord,clapping his hands. "I'm surprised at how quickly you've mastered your power" "Is it true you and the other nobles were going to hold them while you tried to make me do what you want?" "Yes, but I have to wonder where you got your information?" "Like I'm telling you!" She ran at him and aimed a punch at his smirking face. He raised his hand and shot an energy ball into her chest, sending her across the room and into the wall. She staggered to keep her balance. She reached for her dai-jo staff to find she didn't bring it. "Fooling girl," said Harbord. "Never go anywhere new without a weapon to fight with." He shot another energy ball at her. She dodged this time. "Here's my weapon!" She levitated him and slamed him against the wall. "Excellent Your Majesty. But not enough to save you!" He shot another ball at the kids this time. She barely got a force field up in time. "No more games." Jade said dangerously. "Tell me what you want." "What we, the nobles of the court, want is a ruler who will do what we want for this kingdom. Or a husband who will rule his insolent wife, you." "Are you out of your mind? I'm here to help this planet and you want to control me by kidnapping my family," they way she said it, it was not a question. "You don't know this planet or any of the people." "Not yet she doesn't, but that can be fixed," a voice from the far corner of the room said. It was- "Sonya!" Jade exclaimed. "What the, how did you get here?! Who are you?" Harbord was speaking almost incoherantly. "It is a simple matter for the queen to meet her subjects so ther must be an alterior motive for you wanting to conrol her." She spoke matter-of-factly with her arms crossed. "You and the other nobles have major explaining to do." Jade let down her levitation and force feild. Harbord slid to the ground. "Fine. Call a Noble's Meeting and we shall explain everything." Jade nodded and levitated everyone down to the ground starting with the kids and Pey'j, then Harbord. She looked at Sonya. Sonya smiled. "I told you I'd be there if you needed me." to be continued. |

You're half right. And I was hopeing the crazier people would like it. Thank you.

Harbord led the way to the adience chamber. The other nobles were there. They at least had the dececnecy to look ashamed. Pey'j and the kids went to the far side of the room, out of the way of Jade on a tirade. Sonya, perfectly at ease stood behind Jade as she stood at the top of the room, glareing at the nobles.
"Explain yourselves, immediatly and it had better be good." Jade wasn't in the mood for pleasentries and bluntness was her specialty at the moment. Lady Shenna, the eldest of nobles, stepped forward. "Your Majesty, let us show explain simply. To put it frankly, we wanted you to be a figure head. We wanted to use you as our front and take all the blame and responsiblily while we pulled the strings and made things our way." "If you wanted to rule, why didn't you just step up and take the throne? Why drag me here to humiliate me by kidnapping my family?" "Because we can't!" Lady Zira said this. "We don't have the bloodline or the strength of the royal family so we can't rule. That and the people wouldn't accept us." "You unbeliveable cowards." Jade said dangerously soft. "I have a mind of my own, I will rule this kingdom and I will not let you rule me. You will never, never, touch my family again if you want to live to see the light of another day. And you will not ever try this stunt or you and your families will suffer greatly!" She was giving them all a death glare that would have shattered glass. Sonya put a hand on her shoulder to try and comfort her. Jade looked over her shoulders at the only person on this planet so far who told her the truth. "You're all dismissed." She said wearily. The nobles all filed out past her. When they were all gone, Jade turned to Sonya. "Would you like to be my royal adviser, Sonya?" "Yes, I would like that very much." To be continued. Short I know but had to get this in. |

Sorry to take so long but here it is.
"...Hence and furthermore, Your Majesty, the fashion department belives that semi-see through curtains, instead of drapes, will make the palace seem more enjoyable to you and your family." Sir Wilfroden finally ended his speech. Jade woke at the end and said."Thank you for that informative speech Sir, I will certainly consider what you said." The man bowed and left, the last one for the day. Jade slumped in her throne. Being in a gown, fine, listening to idiotic advisors, tolerable, both at the same time, a nightmare. "Jade, don't slump you'll wrinkle the gown" Said Sonya from behind the throne. She wore a simple blue gown with white embrodery of dragons in a sprial. She was taking notes for the queen, like any good advisor. "This is insane. What in the world do I care abour drapes and curtains? This is absolutley ludicrus!" "After 3 weeks of rulership what did you expect, miracles?" "I expected something slightly more important to deal with, shelters for the homeless, playgrounds for kids, that sort of thing." "No luck. Listen, you're a queen, you have to think like one. Right now, people are wary of you, they don't know you, and the last monarch here was a tyrant, so they're hesitant to come to you with they're problems." "So how do I fix that?" "Simple, you take the rest of the day off, get into you're usual clothes, and go out and meet the people. Show them the real you and they will trust you and come to you and support you in trying times. Show them you're a woman of the people. I'll cover for you here, if anyone asks for you, I'll tell them you have a headache and needed to lie down." "Don't worry, I have a real headache after listening to that nonsence." Sonya smiled at this. Jade went to here rooms and Michelle helped her out of her green gown. She put on her normal clothes and, when Michelle was gone, snuck out the door down the hall as quiet as a burglar. She was out the door before anyone knew she was gone. She left the 'saftey' of the palace boundries and was in the street, mingling. She watched as 3 rough kids, 2 boys 1 girl, were playing what looked to be tag. She went to the market and saw a beautiful jade pendant in one of the stalls. "How much for the pendant?" She asked the shopkeeper, a burly fellow with a barrel chest and thick arms. He had black hair and a beard, blue eyes, and, what had to be a once broken nose. "20 credits, ma'am," He answered. She swiped her card, the name, of course, coming up on the man's screen. He raised his eyebrows at her name but didn't say anything. He wrapped the pendant and gave it to her. "Here you are, Your Majesty," He said in a low voice. He winked at her and went on to the next customer. She was pleased she made at least on person happy as queen. Now she could come back to his jewery shop when she wanted and not have a fuss made. She looked at the sign above this stall, Herman's Jewlery, Finest Kind. She would have to rember Herman and his kindness. She wandered some more, taking in the sights, smelling the different perfumes in the air. Some people stopped and looked at her but no one gave her a second glance really. She stopped once more to buy a chocolate pastry from a bakery stall. The woman looked at her in askance but said nothing but what was polite. After wandering for an hour more, the sun was begging to set and most shops were closing. Jade was leaving the market and paid Herman one last visit. He was packing away his jewlery and locking it. He looked up to see her and smiled, sorta. "What brings you back ma'am?" He was a head shorter than her and had to look up. "I wanted to know if you'd like to work for me as my jewler. I love the work I see in your pieces and I like you to come with me." Some people still leaving heard this and deduced who she was. "Your Majesty, you honor me. Of course I will. I'll make you the most beautiful jewlery you can imagine. Thank you." Jade smiled and shook his hand. She helped him load his boxes of jewlery onto his horses and led them to the palace. The servants, and Sonya, came out to greet her and her new jewler. Sonya smiled knowingly and congradulated him. A manservant came to take hime to his new quarters. Jade felt much better knowing she had some new friends. She thought about the woman of the bakery and contemplated offering her a job, but the palace chefs were good too. So she let it go. She went to Pey'j's room and told him and the kids everything she did that day. "Sounds you're shapein' up to be a mighty fine queen, Jade. I know you'll make me and your parents proud." That was all the encouragement she needed. To be continued. |
