I know I'm about 4 years late but have you guys been watching or ever heard of Firefly?

It has something I've never seen before in a TV show before. Smart Dialog, Great interesting characters, and it has something else..

Something that pulls you in like Beyond Good and Evil...

Anyone else know about this great show?

I've heard a lot of good things about this show but I've only recently seen the first episode, so I can't really say how good it is at this point. It does look similar to Cowboy Bebop in a number of ways, which can't be a bad thing...

Serenity was an amazing film, I'll rewatch it soon. About Firefly, like I said before, if I ever come across it in the store, I might buy it. But I'm not really a tv-series watcher. But for a series that spawned an amazing movie like Firefly. I'll make an exception.

Dude, That is exactly the same thing I thought!(And how it is too).

Look at the crew:
You got the Ship Captain that is both rebel and sometimes clutz
His first mate that can kick so much butt
The pilot who has a funny quip almost every time
An engineer who loves engines...in more ways than one.
A medic with a personality a little too soft for the harsh realities of space(but it is all too funny)
The mysterious girl who has times of Psychic ability and is a genius.
A 'Certified Companion' who is extraordinarily beautiful and talented..plus in love with the captain.
A preacher with a hidden past and a heart of gold
A Mercenary who loves violence, babes...and grenades.


The amazing thing of the story is that these chacacters are not as two dimensional as they seem. Every episode, something comes to light about one of the characters, even if it is something small(just like Cowboy Bebop)

The reason I brought this up was because the show was cancelled...however, because of the fans, it was turned into a theatre attraction.

The power of fans are great, indeed.

Firefly... what an amazing show.

One of my friends originally got me hooked by describing Captian Mal Reynolds as "Han Solo". So, I watched the series off of his DVD set and ended up loving it.
The intended humor was actually funny... and the characters were all just so comical in general. Dysfunctional, but fit together. (Like the crew of the KotOR Series, IMO)
Anyways, the series never began to come down at a lowpoint (I personally liked all of the episodes). They always had a fresh plot to them, and more bad guys to shoot. It's a great Western/Sci-Fi cross over, except it sounds a bit cheesy described that way.
Anyways, I highly reccomend this. Buy it off eBay if you so choose...
I know the Sci-Fi channel airs marathons of the series occasionally...the last marathon was New Years... but they're completely random otherwise, I think.

I'm back at school now, and my suitemate returned with the Firefly DVD set... so I expect I'll be watching them very soon. Can't wait.

Lynx, I tell ya, the first episode you should watch is "Our Mrs.Reynolds". I assure you, once you see it, you'll fall in love with the show completely.

I saw Serenity? Does that count? =P

Seriously, it's an amazing film. I thought it beat the Star Wars prequels (this is my opinion, don't get mad at me). I might get into Firefly since I liked so much the movie.

I've always liked "Heart of Gold"... mainly for the romance subplot aspects. o_O

Oh yes, did we mention this show has wonderful romance subplots?

Firefly is by far better than Serenity in terms of dialogue and plotline.

In fact, Serenity retains about 1/10th of the original concepts presented in Firefly.

Saw Serenity today!

Now I can't WAIT to see firefly!

It was a lot more than I expected. Special effects weren't bad for not being a high budget film (I believe the film came to be by a large fan uprising or something like that) and the story was great.

You're absolutly right. I noticed about 25 min8utes into the movie that I was actually laughing out loud at numerous times, and it wasn't disrupting the flow. The humor is great. The characters are very dysfunctional, and all hilarious in their own respects. They also seem to be pretty deep, and all of them feel like they have a part, a job to do, that all comes together as one team.

One thing I loved about the movie, and I think I was told this was the same for Firefly, is the fact that the ship, Serenity, is one giant set. The intro has Mal Reynolds walking throughout the entire ship talking to each member, and it's just one large continuous shot as he goes from one section to another. Very cool.

Watched my first Firefly episode today (seriously, I'm hooked.) I watech Our Mrs. Reynolds today, it was great. It's such a funny show, but still maintain's it's seriousness. Man I love this series. I wonder how long until I buy the DVD box set.
