According to the Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot, Beyond Good & Evil 2 will be made more appealing to casual gamers than the original game, which had more core gamers, trying to make sure the sequel does not suffer the same commercial failure the original did
This really worries me The term Casual gamers brings up the image of them dumping it to the point a Special Ed Infant could play it and taking everything that is fun about original out of it, please say they aren't going to do that.

You're worried too much. Ubi would never do that.
The reason it sold bad was because it was competing with 2 other topnotch Ubi titles and was released at a time of the year when there were only good games(around Christmas).
Seriously if they make it look as gritty and realistic as that trailer but then decide to simplify the gameplay so that someone who plays Ravving Rabbits would enjoy it, they would be making an enourmous mistake.
Personally though I wouldnt mind if they made the stealth parts easier just as long as the give us a lot more creatures to photgraph and make it more challenging to find them, and keep the puzzles challenging, the worlds bigger and the game more detailed.
Casual audiences wouldnt even take an interest in this game.

The whole idea of BG&E being loved by "core" gamers and despised by "casuals" is, in my opinion, a huge mistake. The game was incredibly accessible - I even got a friend of mine to play it, even though she never got beyond Majong, Minesweeper and Tetris before.
For "core" gamers, however, the game was way too short, and too easy as well.
It's quite unfair to have such a statement floating around with no information about what it could mean - for nine months, now! I'll try and make a best/worst case scenario list to see what "casual" could mean. Let's see how far i get.
Worst case:
BG&E II is much shorter
There's no challenge at all, it's too easy
story sequences are much shortened, the narrative is simplified, the characters almost non-recognizable
a lot of nonsensical mini-games, raving-rabids-like
because the PC is more of a core-gamer machine, only console versions are published
the game is more linear, your next goal is always clear and obligatory
focus is almost entirely on fighting, enemies respawn every single step of your way
major stress on Jade's sexiness instead of her adorable character traits
Best case:
Far more dungeons/areas you can visit, but the individual ones not as LONG as the ones found in the original game
stealth parts run a little smoother, as overview is always guaranteed
instant gratification is improved with more collectible or purchasable items (and photographable animals!!)
facial expression is even better than in the original game, giving players an immediate connection with the characters
beginner's vehicles run a little faster to compensate for the huge world
OK, that's all I can think of for the moment. Additions, anyone?
This is false. On December 18, 2008, at the VGL event in Paris, Ancel stated that the development team has received total freedom from Ubisoft, giving them the opportunity to make the game how they want.
