According to French gaming site Jeux Expo, Ubisoft's Michel Ancel has begun work on a sequel to Beyond Good & Evil. The original title featured a cliffhanger ending that demanded a second game. However, it was believed that plans for this sequel were cancelled because of poor sales of the first Beyond Good & Evil, despite critical acclaim. Jeux Expo's report claims that the sequel is being developed for all next-gen consoles and will be released next year.
I know it isn't much but still.. i hope they make a gamecube version too i aint got money for the wii yet.
every time this happens I can't help but get exited even though I'm always disappointed in the end, but this somehow seems different, though I'm probably wrong. oh well, we'll see...
Always the same one-year-old Jeuxpo article, always the same arguments, always... wrong, wrong, wrong! Ubisoft explicitly announced that no sequel is in the works by September 2006. If you do find rumours, at least find new ones...
Nice find nikola, and the article is not even a day old Although it's nice to hear they acknowledge that BG&E helped the company in other ways (getting them the King Kong license) despite the bad sales, I'm not sure if we should interpret the "generally speaking, we never give up on one of our games" as a hint for BG&E 2. I'll see if I can e-mail Serge Hascoet for a more detailed opinion on the matter, although I never really got a reply from anyone at Ubisoft it can't hurt to try.
HEY! That's the JeuxExpo article I posted just three days ago! It doesn't look like a COINCIDENCE...
Hehe, I really don't care, because that gives more illusion to people like me, who three days ago just thought we were going to be presented with a sequel this year... However, I like the second article about IP`s.
By the way... I'm 98% SURE a sequel will be done soon or later... As Ubi Soft say, "we never give up on one of our games.” Have faith, my friends

www.gameplayer.com.au has the interview with Serge Hascoet about it. I played BG&E on GameTap and would rush out and buy BG&E 2 today if it existed. I imagine there are many people like myself who became exposed to the game well after the fact and would totally love to give Ubisoft our money for them to continue it. Please, continue the series.
