So, I go to this movie on my birthday, hoping it'll be what it's chalked up to be.
I was disappointed.
Probably spoilers... but you need a warning stamped on everything these days...
The plot itself was fairly decent. Tristan is from England, Isolde is from Ireland. In the movie, the Irish are invading England and Tristan is cut and poisoned by some guy's sword so he floats across to Ireland where he's found on the beach by no one other than Isolde.
As you can guess, they "fall in love" as she nurses him back to health. It was incredibly predictable.
Then the Irish find his boat with his sword, recgonizing it's from England. So they look for him, and he leaves Isolde in a hurry in a rowboat. He asks her to come with him, but she says "No" because she's supposed to marry a guy who died in England. The catch is that Isolde didn't tell Tristan her name, since she's royalty.
Things progress, and Tristan wins Isolde for the king of his tribe (?) back in England. He finds out it's the girl who took care of him, and they, of course, start having an affair.
The movie is basically sex scenes, a dry romantic conflict, and some great battle scenes at the end.
Only see it if you really like battle scenes... or if you're a fangirl of James Franco or a fanboy of Sophia Myles. Or if you have a soft spot for romance movies...

Hmmm, I think I'll stick to LotR and Braveheart for my epic battle scenes. Thanks for the heads-up about the movie anyway, although I don't know it.

How bloody is the battle scene? How many people get killed? Would you say, ten million? Would I have a wargasm?

I was pretty unsure about this film ever since I saw the trailer this Christmas break, and this sets it in stone. It looked like another chopped off the old block romance-y film based in an age of swordplay. Thanks for the review (geez it feels weird saying that!)

BTW
Happy birthday Shanui!
