the first one is good... however...

quote:

NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! *snatches back the glowing edges filter* THIS FILTER IS NOT FOR YOU! *growl*

you do NOT use this filter in images... you use it for text effects, for background or ambient images etc, for example (these are my really early attempts so DON'T LAUGH!):

are examples of the glowing ages filter. k? in general, images do not look good when you apply filters.

Its my Prog, okay? and it was only a test, okay??

maybe, this filter is usually used for text effects. but if i want to edit a picture with it, so why i mustn't do this? i think, everybody is free to do experiments with filters...

oh, of course! don't get me wrong, you're perfectly at liberty to do whatever you want in photoshop, i'm not commanding you as to what you do in it... i'm just letting you know in a kinda fun silly way that it doesn't really look great... well, it's good when you first see it, but it's really not a good idea to take them seriously. i mean, i did a lot of stuff with images in photoshop when i started out, but i never posted them up becuase i knew that i was still learning. and i don't post a lot of the stuff that i do now, becuase i know it's so awful... i'm still learning as well you see. it's just a question of knowing what will look good to the trained eye as well as the untrained one.

i'm just letting you know that in the world of photo editing, you'll get torn apart for this kinda thing. DON'T GO THERE if you want to be taken seriously. just advice, dude.

hmm, that's really really good. much better technique! what i would say is... either give her brighter eyes that stand out a lot... (use the same selsection as before and then use colour balence or brightness/contrast.. or even edit the colour curves if you're feeling adventurous! Razz )... one thing that i was going to try was a radial blur that's centred over her eyes, so that everything else looks slightly blurry except her eyes... i dunno, just mess around and play with values etc, use the magic wand, use the colour channels, but for the love of god, don't spam filters because it'll stand out like the apocalypse in iceland.

true, but the same can be said for masochistic, ritualistic torture. it might to one persons tastes than someone else, but you can generally lay down an assumption that it won't be to most peoples preferances. i'm just telling you like someone had to tell me, it's all part of life's cycle Smile.

photo editting is about experimentation. if you're usin photoshop, which i'm assumin you are... try some off topic stuff to get your berrings and post them in the Fun With Photoshop thread... people might give you some better critiques in there and you can also see what others have done with photoshop so you can get an idea of some of its varieties of techniques.

exactly Razz ... but seriously... no, but i was just thinkin that a topic like that is quite appropriate for gettin feedback on your work, since its less bias than a BGE fanart thread on a BGE forum. Roll Eyes
