Well, what do you guys think? Wanna see Double H return as the powerhouse soldier sidekick of Jade or should they just get rid of him.
Personally, i'd like to see him return for the sequel with the same personality he had in the original: headstrong, his code of honor (Carlson & Peeters), a bit stupid from time to time like when you just rescued him at the Nutripils Factory. They also should expand his backstory a bit, like explaining why he joined the IRIS Network. Should he or shouldn't he come back? I am but a man, without a soul and without desires. Yet i'm happy. Because without desires, i'm already content... |

Well, I, for one, would be happy to see any of the old characters return. The game wouldn't be BGE withiut Jade or Pey'J, but I would love to see Peepers, Issam and his brother, the Chinese Walrus, the market lady, the cow bartender, all of the IRIS network people etcetera to return.

I'm 100% sure that he will be in this game, and 80% sure that he will be one of the sidekicks.
But whatever they do in BG&E 2, they should NOT have multiple playable characters. That's just something that came to mind. |

Well, Double H kinda seemed like a filler character just to take Pey'j's spot in the second half of the game. But i liked his personality: serious yet goofy at the same time.
I just hope that for BG&E2 that he'll return as Jade's sidekick and that they expand his story, mainly the reasons why he fights against the DomZ and joined Jade and the IRIS. About him being a playable character, i don't really mind him becoming playable, as long as the story keeps its focus on Jade (and Shauni). Maybe they'll add a multiplayer mode in BG&E2. Ancel wanted to do that for the original game, so why not add it in here. It makes the game more fun to play. Or maybe they could do something like in Onimusha 2: that when Jubei got stuck, you could play with one of his friends (Oyu, Ekei,...) for a while until you find a way to free him, and then resume the game with Jubei. If they do that with BG&E2, it would bring some variation to the game. I am but a man, without a soul and without desires. Yet i'm happy. Because without desires, i'm already content... |

I would BY FAR rather them spend their time on making a longer and more-complete game, rather than trying to implement some multiplayer mode. I remember reading Ancel's idea of having a multiplayer mode in BG&E, and it made no sense to me. BG&E is not the right game for that. Since a multiplayer mode would bring nothing to the game's story or single player experience, I consider developing such a thing to be a total waste of time. |

I think I agree with Jason on the multiplayer thing.
As for the topic itself, I'd love to see Double H return. He was my favourite character in the first game. Simply loved that, when racing for example, he'd stiffly, but yet with a sort of enthusiasm exclaim; "We did it, miss Jade! Bunch of losers!" Also, you didn't feel so lonely when you had Double H by your side trough the missions. I liked that. As people have already said, though, I think it'd be great if they could expand his background-story a bit. BG&E is a deep game, and Double H sort of seemed like an unfinished character to me without one. |

i don't know about double h, but i think it'd be cool to have him come back... about multiplayer, i wouldn't mind it... i think if it WAS multiplayer, it would be nice to just have the support to pick up and play as the supporting character, much like the classic sonic games with tails and stuff. not a full-blown multiplayer element, but rather just to sorta help collect things and fight.

Will, I wish they continue with the prev storyline, with all the characters..

I wouldnt be dissapointed if there were some new characters. I wouldnt be dissapointed if it was just Jade even. But I think if they have to keep someone it might as well be Double H bcoz the pig is in no position to be helping Jade given his Domz infection problem. It would be nice if one of the goals of the game was to save him rather than having him along. Both the chracters annoyed me anyway.

Well for all we know, that last scene with him standing out by the lighthouse could take place during the middle of BG&E 2, and not before it. Actually, I could even see them not making a huge deal out of that. What I mean is, BG&E 2 could resolve that problem, but not have it be the main focus of the story. Because as I have stated before, I believe that short scene was just tacked on to make us beg for a sequel. |

BG&E was intended to be a trilogy That last scene was not tacked on - it was the developers way of saying To Be Continued. ----- Beyond Good & Evil - Join The Rebellion Sig Courtesy Of dom1999BG&E Website Hillyan News BG&E Darkroom BG&E Demo BG&E Forums It's hard to answer the question 'What's wrong?' when nothings right. |

Clearly a lot of thought was put into that scene. The fact that Jade's resurrection of Pey'J through his hand also gave him a deadly disease in that very spot is not what I'd call an insignificant plot point.

Thank You! I was waiting for you to say that! For a moment I thought you agree with him You think you took me captive, in fact you are my savior |

Yes. Bring HH back and have him be involved more in BG&E 2. Give him more abilities than just ramming, pushing buttons or moving heavy objects. HH's actions were no-brainers. The in-game help was just too obvious. For BG&E 2, I would like to see more in-game decisions by the player, not by the "Action" hints. And ask HH/Pey'J to help should have risks and rewards for HH/Pey'J depending on right or wrong decisions.

bitebug2003: Yes, I know that BG&E was intended to be a trilogy. BG&E left us with a lot of unanswered questions besides the cliffhanger. Plenty of material to be used in a sequel.
But I still think the cliffhanger was a tacked on way of saying "to be continued." In BG&E 1, the story ended. The people were saved, the credits rolled, and you saw photographs of the characters living "happily ever after." But in the last five seconds: Whoa! Wait, wait! Something's still not right! Their cliffhanger seemed like an afterthought. |
||||
|
Hey if someone skipped the credits, which is what alot of people do, they would have missed that developement involving the pig and the Domz spore.
I dont think both the GIjo and the pig need to be in the game. All both of them did was open doors and make the ground vibrate. If there have to be several assisting characters(and Im not saying its necessary) they might as well include some alien we meet on a planet who can fit in tight spaces or walk on walls or something. A change is always fun. I would be comfortable with almost any decision Michel Ancel made regarding characters. |
||||
|
I don't think it was tacked on, any more than the whole ending sequence can be regarded as tacked on. There are plenty of other cliffhangers left by that game and it was definitely done for suspense in the story rather than... anything else, I'm not sure quite what the motivation would be.
We still don't have any idea about Jade's parents, what happened to Jade and the corpses and why at the ending cinematic, or the nature of Jade resurrecting Pey'J or really anything about Jade at all. The Pey'J scene at the very end was clearly just a continuation of the suspense in the story, and it's not as if they could have logically put that scene anywhere else. |

Couldn't have said it better I would love to see Double H return - he is hillarious, from his Carlson and Peters quotations to how he looks when smashing through gates. He is a great sidekick, always very helpful even when confused or dizzy, lol - "10-4!" |

|
I just got to thinking... What would be awesome is if BG&E 2 does like the Legacy of Kain games: Raise about three new questions for every answer it gives us, then leave us with a bigger cliffhanger than we had before! |
