You wondering what I am talking about? Well it's probably because you haven't even heard of this game because Ubisoft messed up really bad with the marketing of this title.

On the other hand... If you know it or you've played it you know that this is a cult classic on its own rights. Especially the story! It was so touching and fantastic... we have to know what happens to Pey'j!!!

There were roumors coming up in 2005-ish that Micheal Ancel has started working on the sequel but since then neither Ubisoft nor him made any official announcments.

I feel so sorry for this game! This could have been one of the best selling titles of all times if Ubisoft had done things right! CryingCryingCryingCryingCryingCryingCryingCrying

If you'd like a sequel plz write here

Well Ubi certainly botched up the marketing for this game. But it had other problems besides that. It seems like the game didn't really know who its audience was. Take the box cover for example. These days, the majority of game BUYERS are in their late teens and early to mid 20s. When they look at the box, they will think it looks too kiddie. Then when parents of younger children are considering buying the game, they will think it looks too dark. I have always thought that the title, "Beyond Good & Evil," was a stupid name. It's too general and tells you nothing about the game.

Lets just face the facts. If Jade was wearing tight shorts, was top-heavy, and carried a gun instead of a camera, then the game probably would have sold. I don't think the talking animals helped much either.

I WANT A SEQUEL!

And to show how I love this game, just need to watch this video here:

BG&E Revisited(Self-less-sorta-advertisement)

But to go what Jason was talking about, yeah, to market a game about Political and Governmental Corruption, exposing the truth, talking Jamaican Rhinos, and a touching story between a beautiful young woman and her uncle who happens to be a talking pig-humanoid... well...

I guess it is one of those "Word-of-mouth" games. Screen shots or box art does not do it enough justice. People who have played the game and spread the word of how good it was would probably have worked better...

Except other generic game types came out and word of BG&E was muted down.

It is a lot like World of Warcraft and EVE: Online. Sure, World of Warcraft is a good game in its own right, though, EVE has so much going for it. A ripe Universe to plunder and a new direction for PvP.

However, who has most of the marketing money and a whole lot of fanbase in their pockets? Blizzard(WoW).

That's the common hurdle a lot of new, original games and companies have to overcome. When something is established, of coarse you'll have people come back for more of the same. Though when you have something new, doesn't matter if it is the best thing in the world, it will take a while for it to get to the public, especially if you have 'established' competition.

Jeezus, this was longer than expected. Tongue

So, even though the box art Jason suggested would have had more people look at the box cover and look for nudie pics of Jade online(I know, its blasphemy even to use that as an example), I do not believe it would have helped in the sales, even marginally, if it was released during a time period of 'established' sequels and Special Effect galore games.

WHAT? How can you not like the title of the game? "Beyond Good And Evil" - it's an awesome name! Well, in my opinion it is. In my opinion it has a mystic, intriguing feel to it.
I have to admit I wasn't expecting anthropomorphic animals (I think I spelt that right). I thought Pey'j was going to be the only anthropomorph in the game. But even so, I don't think the anthropomorphic animals do any harm to the game in the slightest.
The idea of Jade in a somewhat more, how shall we say, 'revealing' outfit (as said in the quote above) I could possibly see happening. Generally, though, I prefer the outfit she wore in the game.
I firmly and definitely believe there should be a sequel.

Jade went through a couple of different outfit changes during the making of BG&E. You can see some of the other designs in different pre-release screenshots. In fact, I think Jade's final outfit was designed by Ancel in just the last few weeks of development.

I have always thought that a good feature for a future BG&E game would be to have multiple outfits that you could get throughout the game. They could be used for stealth, kind of like the Hitman games. But eh, that probably wouldn't work because of her green lips. That is lipstick... isn't it?

Yeah, I have seen some of the previous outfits designed for Jade. Your idea that maybe Jade could have multiple outfits for different purposes in any possible future BG&E game is interesting, and I like the idea of it.

A good idea to remove the kiddie look of the game (according to Jason) would be to add a playable male protagonist with an attitude like the Prince from Warrior Within

This way, the game would attract more audiences and lose its looks of a kiddie game or a girl's game. Not to mention that it might add some spice to the storyline.

I am but a man, without a soul and without desires. Yet i'm happy. Because without desires, i'm already content...

No, it always bothers me when a game like this has multiple playable characters. It just doesn't seem right when you spend time playing as one character, then the story viewpoint shifts to another character, leaving the first one as a NPC.

I think so to, and I don't really want anything but the graphics to change... because everything's perfect!
Just a question: Am I the only one who's got the pc version of the game? Because I dont have a console and I would shoot myself if a sequel would only come out for the consoles!! ... not really, but it would piss me off!

PC here also, but I recently bought the GC version for my Wii. I would buy the PC version of the sequel though since I'm not so impressed with the Wii.

Which cover are you talking about? Are you talking about this one.

This cover is one of the main things that enticed me to check out and eventually buy this game. I love this cover it indicated to me that this game would be stylish, adventurous, inventive, high quality, clever and just special Heart

Still if you live in countries like the US I think youd have a different cover which I also dont like very much so I could understand your viewpoint then Happy
