I wasn't surprised no sequel was announced at E3, mostly because with big titles like Assasin's Creed, the new Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six and more, if Ubi DID release a sequel to BG&E it wouldn't be released along with the other big ones - they wouldn't want to risk a game like Splinter Cell stealing BG&E2's thunder like Prince of Persia did with BG&E1.

By the way - where has the rumour leaked that it will be on the Wii? I don't think they would release it on the Wii mostly because the Wii is such a different, innotive console in a league of its own, and BG&E was amultiplatform game. I'm not saying it would be bad on the Wii, I'd just like to play it on the 360 or PC.

Then again, I don't know how games are program so I can't talk. ^^;

If BG&E2's released, it will 100% certain be released on the Wii with special added control features, just like they're doing with Rayman Raving Rabbids. And that would be good for me. Big Grin

The Montpellier team have been given the task of creating a launch title in around a year. I don't think they'll have any time for side-projects at the moment, unfortunately...

See the Xbox360 uses the DirectX API which brags the ability to convert PC games to xbox 360 games in weeks not months and the 360 uses a simple controller - the ps2 uses OpenGL and has another easy controller - however the PS3 and the Wii both have motion sensors which means more than likely we will be getting it on every platform.

Even though the ps3's motion sensor is far more simpler then the Wii's, it will most certainly increase the chance of games getting ported to the Wii. Graphical possibilities will be less of course, but it should still be possible.

In terms of costs, if BG&E didn't "break even" so to speak, that's not necessarily a death sentence (from a fiscal point of view).
Consider that BG&E did use it's own 3d engine, which would have helped push up production costs, as well as conceptual art/storyboarding.

If Ubisoft decided to take another bash at BG&E by producing BG&E 2,(& properly promote it this time), a lot of the development costs of the original wouldn't be present in the sequel.

They might want to consider a re-release of BG&E
in a "budget" or "gold" edition 1st, to "test the waters."

It's a shame such a fine game didn't receive the recognition it was due. I almost missed owning it until a player review caught my interest.

Well Ubi is still making money from BG&E from various digital distribution sites. How much they are making from this, there's no telling. But as I have mentioned before, I'm curious about why Direct2Drive sells BG&E at a higher price than Far Cry.

Since the release of BG&E, Ancel's team has worked on King Kong, and now a new Rayman game. If they are going to make BG&E 2, it will probably be after this Rayman game is finished.

A few months ago, I would have guessed there was a 40-percent chance of a BG&E sequel. But now... Now I would say there's a 65-percent chance. And that's partially based on little bits of information I've been seeing here and there on the Internet lately. If they do make a sequel, I have a feeling that now would be the time (after Rayman is done). It's now or... well I better not say that.

I do believe that the chance of Michel Ancel working on BG&E2 next is bigger than it was after he finished King Kong. Anyone could have guessed that it would be Rayman 4 after King Kong and so it happened. But after Rayman 4 there are a whole lot of possibilities, and one of the most logical choices for Michel Ancel would be to work on BG&E2. The most logical choice that Ubisoft as a company sees, I wouldn't have a clue but I don't they would be very keen on a sequel of a game that lost them money. That's why it's important that we keep the fanbase alive and kicking (and growing) to give Ubisoft that extra push.

Well, Gamespot already had that nice picture of Jade for their contest using green stuff(It's posted somewhere on the forums...too lazy to get the link).

My take on it?: They are prepping the masses. Getting the people to recognize Jade's face. Even on the GameTap commercials, they use clips of BG&E(Sometimes more than once).

It's a good advertising tactic in my opinion. Getting the people to recognize certain bits of the game so they become more interested and less "What-the-heck"? When BG&E2 comes out, they could ultimately kill two birds with one stone(Being the sequel is extremely well crafted): Players will seek out the first game to see what made the second game all the rage.

This has nothing to do with hope.

Because it already is in progress. Thumbs Up

Check and mate. King me.

That's a good way to look at it, Jericho. From a marketing perspective, that is a very good way to do it. Product recognition. The gametap commercials rock, every time I hear that familiar "umf" from Jade as she kicks open the box, it just makes me want to start playing it again. Gametap is doing a great way of keeping Jade alive/introducing her and preparing for a sequel.

If there is a sequel, it will be multiplatform. Ubisoft would want maximum exposure for a franchise that's proven itself to be risky ground. Considering that Nintendo's first party games take up that market by far, a Wii exclusive wouldn't be the best thing to do.

A big thanks to Gametap then, the BG&E community isn't nearly big and productive enough to spread the word about BG&E without some help from the gaming websites.

Well more than likely Rayman 4 will be released for the Wii (And every other console) and it will do great, in-fact the guy I am speaking to now is getting it for the Pc and the Wii (Over msn). What will happen in my opinion is R4 will be released and they will start on R5.

Rayman on the WII... talk about a type of game that has no hopes of taking advantage of the Wii's controller, while still being fun.

ok, using the motion for individual fists would be cool, but how to deal with movement? With platform jumping? With looking around?
