well on wikpedia it says she is actually the ''SHAUNI'',a being who, like the alpha section, is part domz but earlier in the game jade had told the iris network to sign her articles under the name ''SHAUNI'' it is ironic that the naame ''SHAUNI''hid her from alpha sections, as jade hid her from the domz. however,unlike the alpha sections or the domz, jade is capable of manipulating and restoring life force,even able to resurrect the dead. but i always thought of jade as an asian name but i see non-asian with the name. and i read the engine was called jade so i guess they name her after the game's engine.

No, the engine was named after her since BG&E was the first game to use that engine. So they named it after the main character and Ubi continued to use it for their other games like PoP and Assassin's Creed,...

About her ethnicity, many animals in the game seem to represent a race or group, like the Rhinos are Jamaican, walruses are Chinese,...

darkenega: PoP Sands of Time did use the JADE engine, but I believe it was heavily modified. For Assassin's Creed, I believe they used a new engine. The new PoP is based on that.

oh i through jade might of been chinese because of her name.

The name 'Jade' is of spanish origin. But that means nothing.

I guess it's something that could be asked nearer the time when developers surface

well bitebug2003 that might be true but jade is more heard as a chinese name. but darkenega might be right she might be European the company and creator of beyond good and evil is french. but the way she look makes me think she's asian then anything not because of her name either

i think she's suppose to represent a sorta asian/caucasian mix, as well as an asian-american/asian-european vibe. but that's my personal opinion.

yeah dom1999 i think so too. maybe she's half-french and chinese. there not alot of fiction character who's half-chinese and french. maybe french and vietnamese.i hadn't too far in the game. i'm in the cave level. but what is domz? like i said early on wikpedia says she is actually the ''SHAUNI'',a being who, like the alpha section, is part domz. so what that make jade part domz?

sorry about that dom1999 i should of put a spoiler alert next time. well i got a long time till beyond good and evil 2 comes out. but it's a short game so it shouldn't take me long i still need to finish viewtiful joe and kingdom hearts.i already saw the ending for beyond good and evil on gamespot.com just to see if it mention jade's past. but it didn't really make sense. i know the game is a little hard to understand since it deals with the goverment business and finding the truth and choosing what side to believe.

He meant that you shouldn't check wikipedia for the story because the surprise element will be taken out. You're spoiling it for yourself.

i already put beyond good and evil 2 on my track list on gamespot.com. good i through the story would be hard to understand i through it would be like bioshock i talk to my older brother about it and he said you have to choose to believe if the big daddys are evil or not. how many hours is the gameplay. i doubt the game is any hard. i totally don't get game engines but to me the gameplay seen alot like legend of zelda 64 but they use the jade engine in prince of persia and assassin's creed. but both games use alot of aerobatics.

What is the story of Jade/Shauni?

It was a code name Jade used. I think that is why the Alpha Sections and the Domz priest calls her so.

Shauni was actually the name of the entity that was taken from the Domz priest, so that's the reason they call her that. Jade using that name as an alias is not a coincidence, it shows that subconsciously she knows "Shauni" is a part of her. I think the real question is whether or not Jade is Shauni or if they are in fact separate entities.
