Let me respond to some of the ideas stated here (at random):
NO NO no no no no no... This is definately a BG&E 2 trailer. At most, some of the graphics and sounds could be placeholders. But Jade is no placeholder. Her, along with the scenario, the imaginative environment, and the BG&E-style flying machines are all the proof I need that this trailer is for BG&E 2.
Creating multiple planets would be a daunting task. Personally, I would prefer one hugely-explorable planet than multiple planets where you can only visit small areas.
Well you know, I like the look of the old game. And I like the old Jade (though I prefer the earlier designs of her). But I know that it all comes down to what sells. With the first game, no one knew who was supposed to buy it. The graphics and talking animals would lead some to believe that it's for little kids. But not the story and scenario. Clearly they are trying to fix that problem. As I have stated before, I think it would be a good idea for them to totally "reboot" the game and start from scratch. If I were in Ancel's position, that's what I would do. Re-tell the whole story and continue beyond where the first one left off. I think I would have an evil sense of humor though, and end it with a bigger cliffhanger than the first one had! But anyways, I am open-minded to what they give us in BG&E 2. Just give me a great game. |

I'm still predicting Q4 2011, given that the last we heard is that it's still in pre-production. The first game was 4 years in the making, and given that they are basically starting from scratch, I would wouldn't be surprised for the second one to take just as long. As far as we know, development started in, what, early 2008? That means late 2011 is as early as I expect to see it. Of course, I won't complain if I'm wrong and its out earlier. Though, in truth, I'm willing to be patient and wait even longer than that if I have to, in exchange for a good, quality game. Intelligent responses welcome, flames will be met with marshmallows. |

You notice any footage weve seen of this game so far has been 'leaked'? You think creators are doing this on purpose?
Your probably right about it being BG&E. The characters definately JAde. Shes looks simialir, fights with a staff and even sounds like her. Im not as open minded. I think its possible for great things to go wrong so Im not going to buy this just because its BG&E if it ends up lacking everything that drew me to the 1st game. Its doesnt have to look like the 1st game it just needs to be stylised. Thats what made the 1st game attractive to me. Also even though its just a small snippet that doesnt showcase everything the game has to offer, Im pessimisticly predicting that they will probably focus all the technology and efforts on perfecting these action aspects of the game and will probably neglect adventure. They will probably focus on 'story' and 'characters' as well but not adventure. |

By the way, I noticed something else: Jade's voice can be heard a lot in the video, and most of the sounds resemble the ones from the original game. But if you turn the volume up a little when Jade falls and hurts her arm, right before jumping to the helicopter, you can hear a voice sound that you never heard in BG&E1. Same for the sound you hear when she jumps to the helicopter.
|
|||
|
No I couldn't hear the new sounds No question this character we are seeing is Jade though. Every other sound this character makes is identical to BGE1's Jade. Also she looks identical to the girl we saw in the 1st teaser, and all the green and fighting with a staff. Its going to be harder to believe she has a good reason for taking pictures using an oversized camera instead of some gadget and that she chooses to be in the frey of all the action armed with only a DaiJo stick while her enemies all have guns. Even if there's an explanation for this its going to become harder to believe. |

We need that oversized camera. In fact, oversized and/or old-fashioned-looking technology was an intricate part of the first game's visual style. Judging from those interesting vehicles in the new in-game-action, I don't think Ancel is about to give up that approach. An explanation for the lack of miniature techno-gadgets is and never was needed.

Just gonna throw my two cents in...
I know for a fact that this trailer is, without any doubt, Beyond Good & Evil 2 and made by Ubisoft Montpellier. It's concept, to demonstrate the feeling and style of the game. That said, I think it looks awesome and I have no doubt Ancel will stay true to his word and deliver an awesome experience never seen before. I would also like to point out that Ancel and his team are currently primarily working on Rabbids Go Home, and when it's finished they will rev up the production of BG&E2. The two games also shares the same engine, which by the way seems awesome from a developers perspective as well as from a gamers perspective. With that in mind, and considering the release of this trailer which I don't think is unintentional, I estimate the game to be released sometime Q2 2011, at which point the game will have been in production for almost 4 years. |

I don't think it's a leak, it's too perfect. no missing textures, no lag, no glitches, no missing sounds. the only thing I can notice that doesn't fit is that a few of jade's grunts were taken directly from the first game. I don't think it's a leak, I think it's viral advertising.

I like the simplicity of the camera and everything else too but you wouldnt question all those things in the 1st game because it actually had a fantasy look and feel to it and Hyllis was like its own little world, different from the reality we live in so it was acceptable that some things look futuristic while others had retro charm. But the new materials seem very realistic and the setting seems similair earth so I cant see it making any sense. Jades like in India beeing shot at with real bullets so it doesnt seem sensible to keep using a staff and a retro camera. It probably wont even look as good anyway because the staff combat wont be as stylised with that green trailing effect. Most people just seem to think 'what the...' when they see a talking pig being rendered in a style youd expect from Call of Duty. |

no doubt that this is BG&E2 but the question is if this video is this completeits mean that the game had 90 % from production
the video maybe taken from the first stage or durring theg game play in one of the first stages and the game like its made in india and the world is taken by some forces somebody is helping jade he was in the helicopter some thing by jade so thats why police Prosecuted here and i don't think the game will be released in 2011 we have to wait E3 to see and heare , wome info will be leaked in the expo as some site said ------------------------------- hay ubi where is my BG&E 2 . how much i have to wait :x |

It does seem kind of silly to fight with a staff when people are shooting at you. Yet Jade seems to manage in trailer 2.
For the camera, just remember, Jade is a reporter. She wouldn't be using a little pocket camera anyways. The camera will be re-designed, but I imagine it would be about the same size. Maybe just a little bit smaller. And it won't be able to shoot those disc-things (I always thought that was stupid). And with the new graphic design and direction of the game, it will be very interesting to see how they handle the animal-people. Notice there was not one animal-person in trailer 2. Also, the guy on the helicopter was not helping Jade. He wasn't even looking at her when she was running towards the vehicle. She just hopped on herself and "borrowed" it. |

The video looks cool but I am not as psyched as I was when I saw Chapter 1: The Pig, because that was official.
If this get's an OFFICIAL stamp from Ubi then I will be as happy as I was for those three days after I found out that a sequel was in the works. Ancel is totally committed to the adventure game genre. Even the Rabbids are getting an adventure game. The Pig trailer showed sci-fi/fantasy elements in the giant pig man, laser wrench and hover car. This trailer shows none of that but a little bit of the grit that BG&E also had with the funky copter, the crowded streets and Jade running on roof tops. It's good. |

The Osprey copter thing...anyone else notice that the engines turned the wrong way?
|

Great footage, I can't wait to see the sequel. Although it was a low res video, the textures and scenes seemed quite polished (...even if the helicopter in the end should have crashed right there if it turned its engines backwards like that

The message behind BG&E is more important than ever now bcoz of some of the issues and problems in our world at the moment. I guess even if its not to pleasing to look at, this new look might make at least make it easier to relate the game experience to real life events.

Please no, our world is dull and boring. The world of Jade is a LOT more interesting. _______ |

I have always rejected the BG&E-comment that issues on Hyllis might relate to present events in our own world. Large-scale conspiracies are not our evil. In fact, the main evils in our world are mostly plain as day.
Fantasy worlds, however, gain their credibility through a careful mixture of likeness and un-likeness to our world. In this respect, BG&E was an incredible artistic, i.e. visual achievement. The credibility of the main events of the game came from a realistic and emotional character interaction - not from the possibility of comparison with our own political situation. |
||||
|
I mean in countries like Sri-Lanka and China there is corruption, groups being mischaracterised, a need for truth etc. Also you never know, even our part of the world could be wrapped in some kind of deception. Its not always plain as day, we are often mis-informed and the facts are illusive Anyway I agree. I never cared for the whole 'story and commentary' aspect of the 1st game and Im not too keen on escpaping to a artificially generated world that too closely resembles reality. Thats why I want a more 'artistic' game then what Im seeing seeing. There are plenty of shooting games that can take us to india or some desert where everything looks sandy and brown. The reason I liked BG&E was because it was all fantasy and magic. |

Well, this is awesome to say the least.
I found another clip online - it's the same footage, but this one claims in advance that it is official gameplay footage, and it has an overlay that shows what buttons you push to perform the actions. It's kinda weird though, because it looks like "A" is the only button you press the whole time, and one of the actions you do by pressing "A" is to "Be mildly suprised by cow." Really? But this might suggest that the gameplay, or at least this chase sequence, is in fact similar to Indigo Prophecy where the action plays out and you react with timed keypresses to perform specific actions. link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31QEERV4Rdc or -click here- Someone mentioned the India flag colors on the chopper at the end... I don't think it's meant to represent India -- those are the same colors used by Mammago's in BG&E! From of the looks of this clip, development is actually pretty far along. That's a lot of art and animation and engine work that's looking pretty much finished. Unless they've got a whole other planet to design and execute, I think we could be looking at a release this holiday season, maybe Q1 '10 if they've got some more polishing to do. Possibly that's just me being hopeful. |
