Beyond Good & Evil is a french game, but it seems like the original language was english (I think that because mainly, all the demos were in english and the game first came out in the US)

But still that just shows the marketing intent, but it doesn't mean that the game original language wasn't originally developped in french?

Does anyone know what is the original language?

Well, it sure was coded in French. Demos and the release date usually don't mean much, as America tends to get Western developed games first. Rare's Banjo-Tooie wasn't even released in their home country (England) until four months after the American release.

The English language seems to be the dominant dub developed for here, lip syncing and all.

I'm willing to bet the Montpellier team worked directly with the voice actors for at least the French and English dub. But hey, it could be more- the team took great lengths to localise it to different languages (five different dubs, in game signs in different languages).

So there really isn't any original language, is that what your trying to say?

Here is what is being said on Wikipedia:

quote:
The North American version of the game features English, French, and Spanish versions. The European version, reflecting the continent's linguistic diversity, had versions in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Dutch, each fully dubbed in the target language.

It is unclear what the "original" language of the game is, although it is most likely that it would be French, given that the game was written and designed by French designers in France. This is one of the few games available on the market that gives practically no clues as to the native language, as everything is localised, including signs.

French or English, or maybe French ánd English. but it's doubtful, because the lip-synching has to be based on one language.

Id guess that the orginal language was French because it was made in a french stdio by a french developer. But it may have been in Polish
