Good to see enthusiasm for BG&E continue, however until anything official is announced please take articles like this with a large grain of salt, and needless to say we've no official comment to make at this stage. Smile

We have done for the last 5 years Smile

but..., looking at your post, [...until anything official...]

Nah, I remain sceptical.
I'll wait, like I always have done with silent anticipation.

This is great! I certainly think it is going to be announced. All the rumours, a strange person who posted the story of the beginning of BG&E 2 (member realistic or something probably fake?), and now this. And ubi montpellier is working on multiple games. Stay tuned!

Even if it's just in pre-prod. In the whole interview, Ancel said (i don't have the magazine, so maybe we told me false stuffs) :

i want bg&e 2 to be in the continuity of the first: a large variety of gameplay, lots of emotion in the gameplay and attaching characters. This time, we approach the future of planet, the approch with the animals. There are hybrid creatures, created by men for mysterious reasons… In any case, I would like to go further that in the first, by circumventing mechanics traditional of the video game, a little simplistic.

I hope it is true. But I guess I'll believe it when I see it. From what I've read about what this story said (since I can't read French), it says it hasn't been greenlit for full production and it's only in pre-production? Is that right. Anyway if that's true, probably won't be at Ubidays this year, but you never know. If I saw the new PoP and this was announced at Ubidays, I might just lose my mind.

Unless JeuxVideo is lying, this is official news. Indeed, what Ancel is saying here is that their team is working on preproduction of BG&E 2 but it's not actually a project supported by Ubisoft. So in other words if the higher-ups don't give the green light they'll never be able to create the sequel. The fact that Ancel actually reveals this information might be a (desperate?) call for help to the community, since they're the ones that can convince Ubisoft to let the team start production on BG&E 2. If there was ever a time where the BG&E community can make a difference it's probably now.

OMGYES Big Grin

anyone else think that jade looks like 30?? her clothes and expression are so much more mature.

and yeah, what on earth is the relevance of april 10th? they surely can't know the release date this early on, or even the announcement date, surely?

That picture is old news, it was just a feature in a magazine about "games are art" or something like that, it doesn't have anything to with BG&E 2 (Ubisoft isn't going to advertise a game that isn't even in development).

Dangit.

Well, the news that Ancel's pushing for a sequel is pretty fantastic anyway.

What can we do to convince Ubisoft to give a green light to this future masterpiece? I would do anything! Even dancing on a table half-naked with Tony Blair if I have to. Veryhappy (Just kidding)

Looks like G4 picked up on it.
Maybe that crowd can help push on Ubisoft

let's hope that ubi will give a green light to the project, though they have to look at thing's profits, which was the weakness if BGaE :/

but i take that interview half-official annoucement anyways =)

Agree except for the dancing part though Razz can't Ancel tell us what can we do to help him convince Ubisoft?! It wasn't the games fault tht it didn't sell out much, it was theirs! The publish date was soo wrong! If they waited 6 months after PoP &TR release, I'm sure it wud have been sold way much more, even out sold what they were expecting!!

Just joined the Ubi forums today for the sole purpose of getting the latest on a possible BG&E2. I've also seen very recent buzz concerning a sequel, and I know it would be a huge letdown for a lot of fans if these rumors turned out to be false. This sequel is highly anticipated and long overdue! Ubi, we know you are listening. Please bring back Jade!

Hello everyone.

Few of you may remember me, but the majority of you are new to me. But Bitebug and Daroth, I definitely remember you guys!

I've read about this news. And due to my experience over the many years in this forum, I know not to get my hopes up. Ancel has been passionate about BGE2 for years. He's been talking about it since '05. He want's to make it and has stated specifically that he will.

But Ubi is the fortress here. They own the rights, and unless they give the greenlight, we won't see the game. I've been burned out and pushed down by Ubi over the years. Lack of progress in the situation took it's toll on lots of us. Ubi has been stubborn in it's dealing with BGE2. This news doesn't deny that fact.

Doesn't mean you should completely write it off however. I've believed for years that we'll see BGE2. But I remember reading that after Ancel finished King Kong he was going to start on BGE2. Then Rayman Raving Rabbids came and went. So did it's sequel.

And in the mean time, Ubi has created 4 PoP games in around 5 years. They know where the easy cash is, and that's definitely not with BGE. It's their fault that the game did so poorly, and they've never seemed to be the type to take the risk on BGE2 knowing it won't generate the sales that PoP has.

As for convincing Ubi, I really hope the added attention will help them see the light. Not to mention the game's release on Steam. But Sadly, I fear there is no convincing Ubi. We've seen so many public outcries, projects, petitions, donations, everything go unnoticed by Ubi. Why would they start listening to us now?

I really do want to see a sequel happen. If it doesn't come out for Wii or PC, you can count on me buying a new console for the sole purpose of playing BGE2. But don't go too crazy over this news yet. Get Ubi's attention if you can, but hold out for news of the green light. It's got to happen some day.
