Deus Ex was innovative and evolutionary, but it didnt change the way games were made, thus it wasnt revolutionary. The only other FPSs I ever saw implement the upgrade system it used was its sequel and Project Snowblind, both made by Eidos. And it is frustrating when you see good ideas go to waste like the biomod system, but for some reason other developers didnt like it. Deus Ex 1 definitely deserves its place on that list, though.

I think DE would have revolutionised gaming had it actually lived up to it's promise - the "Play the game in any manner you like" didn't work because there was only enough ammo to take the hyper-violent route. You could be stealthy, but only for a while.
KOTOR was another game that didn't live up to it's promise - that your decisions throughout the game would change the ending. When in fact it was one choice near the end wich influenced the ending. If I remember correctly, the Jedi Knight games had already done something like that, but much much better. |

To get the thread back on topic:
BGE is doing pretty good. Compared to what LBA needs to do to get up one rank, BGE seems like a piece of cake. The greatest50games.com has promised to remove all foul votes submitted into the system. I'm hoping it will filter about a 1000 (at least) votes that TR got over the past few weeks. Just today, I saw it rise by 200 ballots in 10 minutes. Pretty crazy if you ask me. |

I'm really curious to see which games got false votes. Tomb Raider is certain, LBA might have some too, I'm not sure. We'll see. I'm loving the discussions here, people. Absolutely marvelous! Let me just say that TO ME, Deus Ex was one of the most revolutionary games I ever played. And in the way I played it, I really got the feeling I could play in a lot of different ways without feeling cheated. It deserves its place in the list, no doubt about that. |

A lot of people dislike Deus Ex because they think it's just another mainstream FPS/rpg.
The thing is, Deus Ex didn't become popular until way after it's release. When I played it, I remember it being a *very* underated game. Good thing that it got the amount of attention it did. Unlike HL, I believe its hype is very much deserved. |

Sorry for the double post:
G50G has had everything sorted out. LBA turned out to have bout 700 fake votes. Tomb Raider had over 2300 fakes votes O_o But BGE is 40 something votes away from getting on top 5! So that's good, I suppose :-) |

Remember guys, BGE making it to top 5 will give it extra publicity.
Thus, more chances for a sequal. |

If you care so little about the game gaining or losing a spot in the ranking as you said you do, why did you take the time to post this? ______________________________ Soup, soup, a tasty soup, soup, a spicy Carrot and Coriander, Chili Chowder, crouton, crouton, crunchy friends in a liquid broth I am gazpacho - ho - I am a summer soup - ho - Miso Miso, fighting in the dojo, Miso Miso, oriental prince in the land of soup |

1) Because there really isn't anything else to post right now. 2) Because, as you might have noticed, I like to keep a close eye on the list and post about it 3) Because I think it's so exciting to see what happens next. Will BG&E get more votes than Tomb Raider? Could be, but I don't think Tomb Raider fans will sit still after this minor setback. |

I'm just surprised to see more people rooting for TombRaider than BGE in a BGE forum

27 votes till 5th spot!

Look here, Beyond Good and Evil needs this. Don't you people want a sequal? Any publicity, in my opinion, is a good thing.
Now one e-mail equals one ballot. Cheating is when you use bots or apply the same e-mail to cast multiple votes. If BGE voters had done this, I'm quite sure it would have been MUCH higher. Plus, the website has filtered out all fake votes, so everything you see on the poll is legit. The way I see it, games like Tomb Raider (which got 8 sequals and two movies) doesn't really benefit from being in the top 5. And for those that believe that some games deserve to be on the list: Do you seriuosly think this poll is an accurate portrayel of public opinion? Only people who are aware of the website vote, and some, depending on how much they value the game, will vote more than others. Some of these titles have 40-50 votes, while their online communities span over thousands. We all here pretty much agree that Beyond Good and Evil is one of the best titles out there. So why are some of you so hesitent? |

I don't understand what you're trying to tell me.
All I'm doing is promoting spirit. If you think you've done enough, then my comments probably don't concern you. |
