I terribly miss Beyond Good and Evil, so I hope that sooner or later a second one is indeed coming. Every though I hope at every bit of info, and it hurts when there is none, I'm willing to wait. Mostly because I have no time to play games in college now. Crying In fact, I've had a three months without a game controller in my hands. Come spring break, I am attacking the first Beyond Good and Evil and defeating it.

Hey everyone! I just noticed something...
http://www.all-gamers.fr/index...-bge-du-23-mars.html
This is a video of a BG&E conference.
It has the BG&E2 teaser we have all seen before, but there's something wrong with it.
First of all: the trailer is not called "-1- The Pig", but "-1- The Art of Patience" ( that's at 01:54 in the video ).
But there's also some text at the end of the teaser ( at about 03:30 in the video ): "THEY'RE BACK. WELL... ALMOST."
It's nothing special though, but it's strange that they changed the video, so I decided to post it.

My own translation (I based it on the interview itself as well so it's not an exact translation):

- A platform game with Raving Rabbids is something they've considered.
- BG&E 2 is still in preproduction.
- Some characters from the old game will return.
- the story continues from that of the first BG&E.
- the second game will benefit from newer techniques, a bigger universe, more immersion, more quests, more freedom.
- they haven't decided on which platform the game will be released, but a special version for the Wii is a possibility.
- they will take greater care marketing the game this time around.
- trying out all the new ideas they have for the sequel takes time, that's why they don't have an exact release date yet.

The audio is pretty bad at times so it's a bit difficult to understand at times, but I'll see about writing up some more details for the interview.

BTW: Thank you, Ubisoft, for not releasing any information about "Beyond Good & Evil 2" today, i.e. april 1st.

No one would have believed you anyway. Wink

Ubisoft drops Ubidays Frown

quote:
With regards to Ubidays, with the E3 event in the US, the GamesCom in Europe and Tokyo Games Show in Japan, we think that we’ll have great outlets to present our creativity and innovation to a worldwide audience and will therefore reconsider our plans. There won’t be a Ubidays this year.

I was looking forward to it Sad Eyes Hope E3 will be as good

Of course it will be, and it's only 10 days later than Ubidays normally is! ^^
E3 is less than 2 months away...

LOL I think you will have to renew it again, cuz I don't think the game will be ready in 2010. They are taking a lot of time to do it. They've spent 2 years only in pre-production! And they haven't started with production yet!

I am very excited about this game, BUT I sure hope the developer doesn't ruin the final boss on this one the way he seems to on every other game.

The first BG&E was a very good game but the final boss and the stupid 'Simon Says' B.S. at the end really detracted from the overall game. Likewise the final boss on Rayman 2 for the Dreamcast was quite simply the CHEAPEST ever (I remember actually grabbing the disc out of the machine and breaking it in my hand out of frustration).

Don't get me wrong, hard bosses are fine (especially if the difficulty gradually gets you ready for them by the end of the game), but this developer has a habit of crafting final bosses that have nothing to do with skill and and way too much to do with luck. It just leaves a really bad taste in one's mouth.

WHAT?! You dare complain about Michel Ancel?!? Mad
This is not true at all, by the way. His final bosses have EVERYTHING to do with skill.
Rayman 2's boss was really epic, and so was BG&E's. Were they too hard for you? Well then, maybe PRACTICE a little while. And by PRACTICING, you'll improve your SKILL, and you'll be able to defeat them. Wink

Just out of curiosity, what kind of final boss do you prefer? -_-

I really have no intention of getting into a debate over this, but it is safe to say after beating most of the industry's biggest hits over the last 15 years, that I have some idea of what a boss should be. When you are fighting Ganon in Zelda, Dracula in Castlevania or bosses in the Resident Evil games, practice does make a difference and and especially in games like Powerslave or MDK, but you always know that if you had just done a little better that the prize would be yours. Crash Bandicoot is another great example (the REAL ones by naughty dog), that by the end of these games it is getting VERY difficult, but honing your abilities and reflexes ultimately prevails.

BG&E, on the other hand was completely different. When you start the 'Simon Says' routine, the second part of it obviously boils down to the moment when the Domz priest appears above you and you have to dodge it's attack. I realized after none-stop dodging for two straight minutes that it was going to simply hang-there until it felt like attacking and that no amount of practice on my end was going to make the difference. It is only by luck that I managed to move into just the right place to hit it. WHEN AN ENTIRE GAME ONLY TAKES 6 HOURS - IT SHOULDN'T TAKE 2 HOURS TO BEAT THE MAIN BOSS!!!! Why does the boss in one of this guy's games have such a misaligned difficulty level compared to the rest of the game (which was pretty easy - got ALL the creatures, All the Pears etc).

Don't even get me started on Rayman 2. There is NOTHING epic about this boss. Allowing my health bar to deplete on each continue and yet resetting the boss's + the rising lava + relentless seeking energy weapons (and it is total BS to say that you simply out-fly these things. They turned nearly as well as Rayman himself and it is once again DUMB-LUCK if you happen to loose them, and then guess what - two more are shot at you within a moment).

Reminds me of Akuji the Heartless. Very good game right up until the end and then it was simply IMPOSSIBLE without cheat codes.

If Michel Ancel wants to learn the proper way to make a Boss for a Game he should review the following games "Klonoa: Door to Phantomile", "Shadow of the Colossus", Any of the Zeldas by Miyamoto, ANY of the Castlevanias, ANY of the Resident Evils, "MDK" (1 or 2), "Half-Life (1 or 2).

His story/character development and art direction are top-notch, but these cop-out final bosses are unworthy of the games they infest.
