I have to admit, I was tricked into buying FF:Crystal Cronicals because of the Final Fantasy name tag. As I never played FF on super nintendo or PS1 or PS2, once it came to GC I jumped at the change to see what the hype of FF was really all about.
Crystal Cronicals was a huge dissapointment. The controls could have been make sooo much better if you didnt have to use the GBA screen for a menu. And now noone will even play it with me because its so bad. I'm glad I didnt have to by link cables and GBAs for that, as I already had them.

Anyway, end of rant. My point was that name tags can be used to con people into thinking the game is good, when in fact the actual good game under a similar name is something different altogether.

I dont think this will happen with BGE. I believe Ubi will HAVE to make the sequel better if its going to turn around its sales, as it doesnt exactly have alot of hype on the first game to back it up.(expect that cliffhanger ending for the people who actually did buy it)

The name 'Final Fantasy' is enough to 'con' people into buying it. Problem with FF:CC is that it's not even a FF game -- more like Mana then Final Fantasy!! Mad2

I think this should be addressed with future titles.

Problem with BG&E is perhaps not so much the lacklustre sales, but I think it has alot to do with what your average gamer is more inclined to buy.
BG&E is a new game, compared with for example, an already established Splinter Cell.
The majority reckon that OK, the first was a classic, the second will be also.
If a sequel was made for BG&E, I think the response from those that played the original, will be something like what the response was when Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow was announced.

I liked the ending... especially with Jade's smile... I didn't feel dissatisfied at all... I mean... I just saved a planet... who cares where I came from, that will come LATER...

In order to be dissatisfied with the ending I would have to not care about all the work I just did for IRIS and saving my uncle and talking to all those people and just focus on what Pey'J and the Priest said about my origins... I'd rather not do that...

This would have been PERFECTLY acceptable to me in a movie... having it a game doesn't bother me...

Also, in order to have an overarching storyline, a franchise must be envisioned, though I do suggest it be done lightly and stories be self contained, like here in BGAE... perhaps there was too much foreshadowing for most people, though...

BG&E's story must be finished. But, that's not the only reason for a sequel. The game is great, but is too short and therefore isn't as complete as it could be. The hovercraft gets new items, but what about Jade? She gets almost none new abillities. And there are several more elements that could be more than they are now. A sequel can end the story, and hopefully it stays with only one sequel. But that one sequel must be what BG&E could be, but isn't. It has to be larger and has got to have more variation.

I think that the deadline the reason was to make this one so short and open-ended though. Earlier games from Ancel, like Rayman 2, were much larger.

I'm aware that these threads and topics are two or three years old,( except my thread at the moment, of course)but alot of topics that I'm interested 'bout are past threads. Anyways, I hope that Rareware develops a sequel that continues where Banjo-Tooie left off. Rareware should have left the Banjo-Kazooie franchise with Nintendo;Rareware can't seem to take very good care of it. Mad Its been SEVEN YEARS since the last Banjo game. "What's up with Rareware?" I wonder. Confused

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is a contender for a Non Final Fantasy game marketed as Final Fantasy.

It doesn't play like FF, it has certain elements of FF, but the story is no where as deep as the PS2 counterparts.
The battles are action based and not turned based - which is NOT Final Fantasy.

At least Ubisoft produce original games, and don't spurn out endless sequels year upon year.

Thats why Rayman is still popular, because there have only been 3 since the original was launched in the mid 90's.

BG&E 2 will come I reckon. maybe not as soon as people/I want, but it's highly unlikely they will leave the ending unresolved.

I agree I never did get to play Final Fantasy 7 or the any of the ps1 games so I couldn't aprreciate the legacy. But I have too say the recent games including FF12 seem to be the opposite to what I would be looking for in an adventure game. Ubisoft seem to be the opposite of Square Enix in that they have much better franchises under there bealt but may fail to recognise there potential.

Heck, the guy that made Tomb Raider left after the FIRST game. Tomb Raider is milking a franchise that never even should have been a franchise.

Tomb Raider is a milking franchise but I have to say theres still I think it still has potential.
