Has anyone here ever played the game Kya: Dark Lineage? I was looking for good Action/Adventure games other than BG&E, and I found that this game looked relavivly similar. Let me know if you'd recomend it.

I have not played it myself but I have seen it in action - It's more of a platformer rather than a BG&E style game.

It's cool though if you like 3D Platformers Big Grin

I played a bit at an EB demo kiosk, however it really wasn't enough to form an opinion from. My impression was that it was more of a traditional platformer game. It was odd enough that I'm considering buying it, and once I have some money I'll probably check some reviews of it.

Well I decided to buy the game and initial impressions are: Wow!

I'll try and give my first impressions without giving to much away. Apologies for unintentional spoilers.
(edited topic to reflect that possible scenario)

Ok here goes.

You play the role of Kya (pron. Kaya) who together with her half-brother are sucked into an alternate dimension after messing around with one of her dads inventions.
Separated from her half-brother, Kya is immediately plunged into action as she attempts to escape an onslaught of Wolfuns (Your main enemies in the game)
As she is rescued by an odd looking creature, her goal is to follow him to the village.
This opening level also serves as a tutorial for some of the gameplay mechanics.

Once Kya reaches the village she is taught some combat.
She can either use a weapon, which automatically targets enemies, or she can fight barehanded, unleashing devastating martial art kicks and punches.

Think of this village as an expanded Pedestrian District.
It's huge. It has villagers, shops, minigames and a host of other things to do.

Once she is given her first task (I won't reveal what that is) her adventure really starts, as she attempts to locate her half-brother.

There is a map system similar to BG&E with objectives to complete and once Kya locates a minimap of a particular area she will be able to see locations of Wolfuns which is integral to completing your quest.
Think if the Wolfuns as the Animals in BG&E and you'll have a fair idea what you need to do.

Graphically the game looks like Rayman 2: The Great Escape.
The colors are vibrant and there is a huge amount of detail.

Music is cool also and suits the environments.

From what I played of Kya: Dark Lineage it is certainly a quality title that incorporates a lot of gameplay elements:
hanging, climbing, shimmying, jumping, fighting, sneaking, gliding, and many more.

I would recommend this title. It's not BG&E but it certainly deserves a buy.

Big Grin

From what I've read in the reviews, it sounds like the story and voice acting and such...all the things that made BG&E go above and beyond, are all bad. I believe one reviewer called the voice acting "laughably bad". So as far as I know, no, It's not deep. But I guess bitebug would be a better judge, since he's played it. I hope to rent it soon.
