Have you noticed that the Beyond Good and Evil forum is one of the only civil ones on the net? If you have ever been to flashplayer.com and been to their forum, what you may find is a flame, followed by another flame, followed by a third. Why do you think we are able to keep this forum (generally) clean and free of insults? There is a scene in "Bowling for Columbine" in which the number of murders in a single year for many countries are listed. Nearly all of them are 2 to 3 digit numbers except for America, which is in the fifteen thousands, and yet there is no true explanation, we do things near exactly the same here as any other place. What is it about America? What is it about BG&E? Why are we so damned kind to everybody? Post your thoughts.

It's because we are magical beings drawn together by a magical game.
America = America. Thus I am moving to Australia.
BGE = magical.
We are so damned kind to everybody because we who pass through these portals are an elite few. We live without sunlight; love without our heartbeats; and enter new worlds with the click of a button.

It's just that kind of game, you know. It brings the kind of people together who are nice, friendly and creative. The BG&E community(not just this forum) is just so great, it's certainly the best community I have ever been a part of. It's not the only civil forum I know, though. I know a Dutch general gaming forums that's civil, another nice Dutch forum where everyone's just so nice. None of them can compete, though.

America= a bigass country with a hugeass amount of people, 300,000,000 plus now, and a lot of freedom. Add all those ingredients together, you ultimately cant stop people from killing one another.

The reason this forum is so civil is that since day one we have never been strict.

Sure -- we've had our troublemakers but I think they can be counted on 1 hand.

We have a respectful Community and two moderators who respect you aswell

All combined makes for a great Forum and Community.

Hope it carries on Smile

Plus when you have a lot of people on a forum that normally speak in complete sentences, it's easier to talk friendly to someone. Smile

Good point. Very good point, indeed. I've seen enough forums where this l33t-talk or just posts consisting of mere loose words and smileys seems to be the standard. On this forum it's very easy to get a decent discussion going.

Very well put. That needs to be put in quotations and placed at the top of the BGE forum banner.

A great point. I love how we talk here - completely normal. We're civil, intelligent, and typically grammatically-correct. I don't know about you guys, but the last 2 years of posting here have definatly improved my typing/writing ability.

I love this place, as I've said before. I was never a forum goer before this one. I can't get attatched to any others. I've tried, it just doesn't happen. BGE was the glue that bonded us. As cliche as it sounds, that's exactly how it went. Just look at us. So many of us have been here for around 2 years because of one game. We still hope for a sequel, but at this point, I think it's safe to say that the game isn't as big of a concern to us anymore. Sure we all still await that announcement day, but I know I just look forward to the discussion and debate each day with friends that I trust to have a civil and meaningful talk with.

The community is what keeps me here. Sure I'm waiting for sequels on other games I love, but that doesn't get me visiting the forums of those games, BG&E did. But now it's the community that keeps me here. On the other forum it's the same, only we also try to take action to make the sequel happen, you know. But above all, it's the wonderful community, of which I won't find a better one anywhere on the internet.

And yes, I do feel like my english has improved since the first time I got here. Learning a language from movies and games isn't enough, forumming was the extra boost in my learning process that I needed.

As long as it's been, I still support this game. I sell it at every opportunity. With the exception of a few PC titles, I can't think of any other games I beat during my freshmen year of college (when I bought BGE) that I still care about today.

What is it? Hmm...

We all love a game that has something special going for it. It is not glamorizing blood or guts, nor is it saying 'Killing is cool!'.

We all see past those lines. We think not just out of the box, we see the box from within and without and can enter it as easily as we can exit out.

The light will continue on because we all are looking for a truth within ourselves. Because we will do it together, we can not fail.

We will never fail.

And that's the Word.
