Banjo Kazooie and Call of Duty 2.

Banjo-Kazooie? I'm playing Banjo-Tooie again ( already replayed B-K ) so I remember everything for B-K: Nuts & Bolts :P
I'm also playing Rayman 3 again... and my own game, of course.
And I got my sister to play BG&E. Finally. ^^

I am going through my third playthrough of Bioshock right now. Other than that, well, anything by Valve really...

Okay Im getting into Final Fantasy now though Im only really playing it 3 hours a week. Im enjoying it.

Unlike BG&E a ton of investement and attention went into this game and theres alot of content and production values. Id like to see BG&E get the Final Fantasy treatement because imagine how great it would be if such a unqie idea with enormous potential and creativel minds behind it actually got the backing it deserved. Also Id like to see it become more stylized, after playing FF12 Im now even more turned off by talking animals and would prefer to see alien races waling the streets of Hyllis but thats just me.

Hahah, brilliant . I got my sister to play it as well, after convincing her to do so for like a couple of years.
Even though she's pretty good at playing video games herself, she prefers to sit down beside me with some snacks and watch me play games...for some reason, she finds that more interesting.

Yeah, it took me a long time to convince her too, but now she likes it and it's one of her favourite games. ^^
Maybe it's the cover that isn't so appealing? I dunno though...
Anyway, my sister plays quite good too, and I like to watch her play ( even though she stops at every single save point she sees -_- ). It's actually how I became so good at playing videogames: By watching her play Rayman 2 ( her favourite game... and one of mine, too. ).

Oh, and one last note: If anyone here's looking to play a fantastic game with an epic storyline... Play Okami ( for PS2 or Wii - PS2 version is way better though ). You know you want to.

Okami is great. Awesome! I have the music on my mp3 player. =p

It's actually my favourite, even above Beyond Good & Evil ( sorry, but it's true ).
And what an ending. That made me cry the first time, and it still gives me tears in my eyes when I replay it.
I really hope it gets a sequel ( or another game in that genre )... not by Capcom's Ready at Dawn ( the studio that ported it to the wii - they'd make a crappy sequel ) though, because Clover Studio, the creators of Okami, has left Capcom and they are now PlatinumGames. And they're making games again. But sadly, Capcom didn't give Okami's rights to PlatinumGames yet.
Anyway, about the music... yeah, it's one of the best soundtracks I ever heard. I've got it on 7 disks ( normally 5, but the 6th is one with the piano arrangement and 7th with the gameboy-ish tunes ), and I listen to it, well, at least every 2 days.

Might as well resurrect this thread since there's no BG&E news to talk about. Currently playing Valkyria Chronicles on the PS3 (which I bought specifically to play that game). It's easily one of the best and most innovative games on the PS3, even if you're not a fan of the tactical RPG genre. Unfortunately, the game is slipping under the radar (BG&E-style) so it remains to be seen whether or not the sales will be good enough to justify a sequel. I'd hate to see this game fail since it would only further discourage Sega to invest in original projects instead of their growing "Sonic whatever" catalog.

I tried the Left 4 Dead demo but wasn't all that impressed. I might end up buying the new PoP next, although that will depend on the quality of the PC conversion (this is after all Ubisoft we're talking about...).

I'm playing Gears of War 2. (Yeah, I like a lot of different genres) And there won't be an Okami 2 because Okami for the Wii also didn't sell well.

i'm playing little big planet right now... and waiting on tomb raider underworld next week... then it's onto PoP in december.

Just finished Metal Gear Solid 4 and on PS3

No, but the director, Shuntaro Tanaka, and part of the development team also worked on Skies of Arcadia. It's a tactical RPG (like Final Fantasy Tactics) that brings some real innovations to the genre. The gameplay is still turn-based but you take direct control of the characters when moving them across the map, making the gameplay more dynamic.

You can select up to 50 different characters to form your squad, and Vyse and Aika are one of those (Fina isn't a playable character). It's just a cameo appearance so there's no direct connection to the SoA story. Here's some (poor quality) screenshots of the three:







EDIT: by the way, the demo should still be available under "All Games" > "Strategy".

But about those pics, I think I prefer the Arcadia style - these are lovely - they looked hand drawn - well actually the screenshots look hand drawn - quite neat

Vyse' face looks a thinner than in the original - I guess as it's a different game - it's to be expected

Kinda sucks that it's not on PSN.

I didn't know the European PSN store was different from the UK one. I think you can create a new account (for example a US one) to access their PSN Store, I know some people in the US made a UK account when the demo wasn't yet available for them.

I'd argue that you don't need to try it before you buy (the lowest score it got on metacritic.com is still 80%, and the average review score is 87%), but of course as a tactical RPG I guess it may not be a game for everyone.

I have played the demo - it WAS tucked away in the deepest depths of the PS Store

Have a few questions.

From what I played, this is a 'war game' right?
Is what the demo showed basically what the entire game is like?
Graphics are gorgeous btw.

I quite liked the Skirmish, but it didn't really give me an idea what the game was about.
I had to occupy a base which I succeeded.
Fina is the medic btw lol

The other option was to defeat the other side.

Valkyrie doesn't really sound war-ish compared with other titles which contain the Valkyrie name (most are about Norse mythology)

I liked the gameplay, but I'm wondering if there is a story - or is it just campaign after campaign.
