Squee Travels Book is now available. This is my first major release and it is considered 99% complete. I know there are maybe a few things from the travel box that are not yet available. Videos and postcards that Gabe is working to get copied and made available. Hopefully soon, but maybe not. I will insert them into the book and republish again when those loose ends are made available.

Over the last 6 plus months both Gabe and Donahoo have made this information available on the web site. This has not been an easy job for either of them, but it has happened. Many thanks to both of them.

The problem was the constant loading and reading and all the problems that go with reading subjects on the web. Especially when there are many personal interjections that break up the flow. So I decided to try to put all this into a downloadable book form to make it easier to keep all the data together and make it a lot easier to read. And with a index at the front too.

I know nothing much about web sites so for me it was a complete beginning and learning process. Building a web site and publishing items to be displayed turned out to be not to difficult. But finding literature that explained all this in dummies language was not easy to find. My best learning was following a 'do it this way' example. From that I had a better idea of how to proceed. Anyway, I do have what I think is a good compilation of all the inputes available.

For each of the players I would like to suggest that you contact the person you sent the Squee to, that this link is now available. And also to any others where you may know the contact information. Many do not come to the forums any more but they may really like to have a overall look of the Squee's travels.

Access to this PDF file is:

I really hope this works. Everything seemed OK until I got around to publishing. Had a bunch of problems but this should work.

Marae, I got your note but could not answer it through the system. The system said I was already logged in and had to go back to etc....

I think I did that once before, years back, and had to re log in, lost my activity counts. I think I even had to change my sign on. Totally screwed me up and I did not want to enter that again.

No problem with whatever. I can fix the picture so it credits Donahoo. Any errors you find can also be checked and corrected. I am hoping that Gab will find time to present his updates here too. I suspect he is pretty busy, as I will be for the next few months.

Summer is coming to my part of the world and I really enjoy working or being outside. Winter is when I have hours and hours of time to sit by the PC and read, play games, exchange notes, learn new things.

It's OK, Bob. I understand. I got your e-mail from the book website and sent you a message; you can answer my "ping" and then when I get corrections ready I can e-mail them to you. I'll be downloading the file later today.

OK, I understand that you've made the corrections, Bob, and I went today to try to check them as you requested, but the file doesn't actually appear to be on the site, or at least it's not accessible to me. I get a blank page. I am sorry it took me so long to get to this; RL has been a bear lately. Let me know when the file is available, and where, and I'll check those immediately. Thanks.

I had an Acrobat update waiting for me behind a bunch of windows, so I installed that and tried to download the file again just now; it gave me an error message that said "the file is damaged and could not be repaired." So it might need to be re-uploaded.

Marae, I have a completed copy on my desktop. So it was working and I don't know when it started to fail. I have both XP and Win98 attempting to download right now. Both stuck at 1%.

So it might be the website or maybe damages somehow. I will try to replace it this morning and let you know the results.

OK Marae, give it a try now.

The PDF would not download as you said.

I replaced the PDF with a new copy of the same file. It still had difficulties and did not always download.

I then had the original document export as a PDF file and replaced the older PDF file.

I have since then downloaded with XP, 98, and Linux. All successful and took between 7 minutes to 10 minutes.

It it still does not work for you, give me another blast.

Thanks, Bob. Downloaded beautifully in under two minutes. (Who says I don't have a fast connection?)

I'll read through the corrections and post here when I'm done.

EDIT: And the final edits are in your e-mail. Only three minor corrections. Thanks again for all your hard work!

OK Marae, I have your latest updates. I am pretty busy this week with doctors and the city problems. Doctors for a hurt knee and city for what they say is my irrigation system is in violation of the rules and regs, with a time limit on the corrections.

Such a deal, just as we are getting ready to go to Denver for a two or three day visit with my daughter and son. A days drive from here so the entire week will be lost. My daughter is flying in from Maryland and my son just recently returned from a year in Germany and half a year in England. Both need to continue with their careers so I won't cancel that trip to Denver.

Will try to make corrections soon and probably not publish the update till back from Denver.

Bob, you have my sympathies, all around. I hope that you are able to satisfy the city (cities can be *such* a pain sometimes!), that your knee heals swiftly, and that you have a safe and pleasant trip to and from Denver, and a fabulous time with your family.

I have no problem at all waiting a little while longer for the update. I know it will get done, and that's all that really matters. And even if I did have a problem, considering how long and how patiently you all have waited for me, there would really be nothing I could say. Smile

Have fun traveling! And don't let that knee stop you from enjoying it.

Thanks for the best wishes.

Tomorrow we go for an MRI of the knee. I wonder what the doctor will see. The knee is swollen and painful if loaded. I don't know what caused this. I just can't get up if I go to my knees. But I walk well. Just a few days ago I took a three mile walk with no problems.

Where I live it is a day to Denver, Albuquerque, Salt Lake City, or Phoenix. My kids don't like losing three days just to say hello, so this time I drive to a reasonable meeting place. We have no buses or trains to our part of the world.

And since July 4th is my birthday I will drive to Denver as a 74 year old and return as a 75 year old. This party is my daughters idea.

So glad to see that most of the country will have picnics, fire works, parades, all for my birthday. Nice of so many folks to celebrate for me.

Wow, you're active!

While my father isn't as old as you, Bob, he often has swollen knees after doing a running workout when he was a hurdler in the Master's division of USATF competition (he wasn't the fastest one on the track, but he enjoyed it). He had to give up running because it would take him a week to recover from sore, swollen knees. He's had surgery on both knees when he was younger due to incomplete meniscus cartilage coverage (unfortunately, the procedure back in the 1970's was not as kind as it is now). My dad stays active now by swimming. He's been doing a 1.7 mile swim every year for 15+ years, and he enjoys doing that.

OK. I have had my vacation to Denver. Met the son and daughter and returned to the middle of no where.

I rebuilt my sprinkler system to the city standards. I now have anti siphon valves on each branch. Yesterday the city said I had done a good job and approved of my work and layout.

My knee doctor said I should have some corrective surgury done on my knee. But the wife also has a bad knee so I deferred until he makes a decision on my wifes knee. Next week we both go see the doctor and then make a decision. I am still getting around well, done some ditch digging last two weeks, but the wife is really having a problem getting around. If she needs surgury I will suggest she goes first. We can't both be down at the same time.

All in all, I guess I am about to finish up with the book edits and make my final publishing effort. Probably yet this week, but maybe next for sure.

Hello Rebbe. Good to see you are still around.

Thanks for the compliment. I hope you enjoy the book. Good for reminiscing and memories of way back when.

If you still keep in touch with any of the other players, pass on the information for the book.

Have a good day.

Well Marae, comes a time when done has to be declared. As long as I am around I will make corrections to areas if need be. I would like to hear from others about how their section looked and how the book looked to them. Just my ego wanting massaged I guess.

I have sent a copy of the master file to Donnahoo to hold. Thanks for your offer to help too.
