Hey everyone. For some reason my dork of a brother thought that you all would want me to say hello, so here i am! He may or may not have told you my name is ivy and i'm 23. i was hurt in a very serious car accident December 9th, 2003. Unfortunately, i have been disabled ever since. i have to use a walker to get around and am on oxygen all the time. Yes, i actually DO need it LOL. You'd be suprised how many people actually ask me that. Do you think if i didn't need the d*mned hose in my nose, tethering me and drying out my nostrils (and making me look like more of a freak than i already do, no less), that i would actually wear it? Hahaha . Yeah, i'm cynical. Ask CK, i'm a witch with a b instead of a w. i have 2 daughters: a 5-year-old black kitty named Lenore and a 1-year-old chocolate chihuahua named Berkeley. i love them both SO much. Lenore likes to sleeep with me, half the time under the covers. She purs almost all night. Right now i'm teaching Berkeley a new trick. When i say "kisses" she's supposed to kiss (lick) me. Sometimes she does it and sometimes she just looks at me sheepishly, then nudges me with her nose. It's too cute.
Don't know if any of you are into AFI, but they are my life. i'm pretty close with those guys and their crew and manager. They're all absolute sweethearts who suported my family and i all throughout the 2 years of my hospital stay and still do now. Have to love them. If you have never heard them, please give them a listen! Don't just listen to Decemberunderground. It's an ok release, but not their best. They just released a CD of their live show in Long Beach where CK, our parents, and i saw them last and i did an interview for them. It has a decent mix of their stuff.
Also, check out the band Cetas Aspire!!! They're a local band that i've started becoming friends with. Promised to start spreading the word on them, too. They have a myspace: www.myspace.com/cetasaspire If you give them a listen and like them, add them and send them a message saying ivy sent you.

Hello Ivy. I have been watching your fathers writings ever since he started. Then he stopped for a long time. Now it is so good to hear direct from you. Life can be a tough time for some folks. So glad you are handling things so well, considering how awful things were in the beginning.

It really must be tough to have such a rascal of a brother. Actually I know that he is very caring for you and your health. I'm surprised to have him allow you on his site. He always seemed to be a very closed person. You are really lucky and blessed to have such a close and caring family.

Please do take care and complete your getting well soon. Also, drop in once in a while and say another hello.

Well, Hello Ms. Ivy. It is great to hear from you personally. I, and I suspect many of the folks on this forum, have been following your...uhm...exploits for a while now. Glad to know that you are "sitting up and taking nourishment", as the saying goes.

Ivy, glad to hear that things have gotten better. I'm glad you've been able to get back to living again. I have a close friend who over two years ago suffered a stroke while she was writing her last paper for college. She's been in a vegetative state ever since, but doctors have been able to tell that she is conscious and can hear people talking to her. Her mom has been recording in an online blog about my friend Maggie's progress, the struggles medically and emotionally in trying to give her a life to return to. Right now, the doctors are preparing to teach her how to communicate with specialize equipment that is controlled by eye movement. At least she will be able to communicate.
The reason why I am bringing this up is that I now have a better idea on the impact this accident has had on both you and your family, and has taught me that life is a gift and every thing you are allowed to do should be cherished. It's great to hear how you're teaching your cat new tricks and are active in a rock band. Cherish it all, and most of all, have fun.
And despite how much CK may um call you a "witch", he loves you very much. It's good to have that with your siblings.
