The game is out since a few days and while I'm sure most of you out there like it, there might be some nuts and bolts to work out. In order to make it easier for the Team to find out what could need a little more Improvement via a Title Update or something like that, I'd like to ask you what changes you'd like to see in EndWar and why.

Before I give you my suggestions as an example, I'd like to congratulate Julian, Michael, Li Kuo and the rest of the Team to the creation of this fantastic game. I'd also like to thank those who participated in the Beta and effectively helped the Team to locate and "vaporize" the rest of the bugs. You guys rule! Thumbs Up

Although I really like this game, even in the best game, there is always room for improvement and I think my suggestions might help you a bit to make the game even better. Smile

Here are my suggestions:
  1. a closer camera perspective or even a flexible one that the player is able to freely adjust, in order to get closer to his units (good example: the helmet camera in GRAW 2 for the Xbox 360 or the second part of this EndWar Teaser), this would really give you the feeling of being down in the dirt with your units, as soon as you switch to their cameras and keep the "no magic rule intact" (which is actually broken by the flying-in-midair camera the game is using at the moment)

  2. the Barracks should also be available in Skirmish Mode, so the player can make adjustments to his/her units and use the upgrades even in Skirmish Mode without having to go online

  3. add a unit camera to the air support planes

  4. make the transparency of units optional, because it really breaks immersion to see a group of half-transparent soldiers fastroping from a transport helicopter or running half transparent through the map

  5. more options inside the Replay viewer (so far you can only pause the replay, stop it, change the camera and that's it - you can't zoom in, pan, rotate, or even create camera paths, the camera would follow etc.), if you give the player more options, like a fully adjustable camera that he or she can "attach" to any unit / object in the game, with zoom in and zoom out, panning and rotating options etc. it will not only be more helpful, but you might also see some veeeeeery nice Machinima movies created in EndWar which will expand the life cycle of the game (World in Conflict style) and make it even more enjoyable

  6. keep the cinematic camera optional in replay mode (it's obviously turned off at the moment, therefor the replays are less stunning and look more like a typical strategy game which EndWar isn't), this will also give the animators some credit for the great animations they contributed to the game, as well as the modelers for their work on the units

  7. make the voice chatter from the units also available inside the replays (this adds a lot of atmosphere to the overall situation) but optional, so the player is able to switch it on / off prior to the start of the replay

  8. remove the midair camera a unit enters a building, the player should see through their helmet camera as soon as the unit's camera is being accessed by the player

  9. an option to adjust the HUD's transparency up to a point where it's not even visible anymore (good example: GRAW2 for the Xbox 360)

  10. the explosions could use some visual Improvement (good example: GRAW2 for the Xbox 360 = camera is shacking because of the explosion and the detonation itself sounds really heavy)

  11. create a unit camera for the drones and the UAV, so the player is able to see everything from it's point of view as long as it's active, just like it would be possible if you would use a real drone / UAV (similar to GRAW2 for the Xbox 360 or the PC)

  12. actual visible results of your actions on the field (for example: If you destroy a power generator, everything around you goes dark because of the power outage, if you destroy an airport, the enemy is no longer able to launch air support from there etc.)

  13. more variation in terms of gameplay would be nice (optional day/night time with the corresponding light settings) and a larger variety of mission objectives

    For example:

Mission one is to infiltrate a hostile outpost and upload some data / hack the Outpost, you have to stay undetected as you only have a few special forces guys with you and silenced weapons (basically a typical Special Forces Mission)

Mission two is to destroy an uplink in order to jam the enemy's communication and then assault his base (Navy Seal style).

Mission three might be, to capture a hostile high ranking officer in order to interrogate him/her and get valuable Intel. In order to achieve that, you have to take out a convoy that is transporting the VIP to the enemy base, without destroying his vehicle (prepare an ambush with your infantry units without getting detected by the enemy prior to your attack).

Mission four could be that you will have to infiltrate a hostile base, cause some chaos and give an allied unit enough time to extract one of your fellow soldiers (inspired by the EndWar novel).

    etc.

This will add a lot more diversity to the game and is basically what a soldier has to do sometimes in a war.

  14. if the player switches to "first person view" the HUD should still be interactive (you should still be able to "paint" targets from there / issue fire commands etc.)
These are only minor changes but they will help to make the game more enjoyable and immersive IMO.

As Michael pointed out multiple times, the claim of this game is to be Ghost Recon but 50 times bigger. I believe my suggestions might contribute a bit to achieve that goal.

Okay guys, now it's your turn but please keep in mind, that some changes might be to extensive for a simple Title Update / DLC and should therefor be used in a potential sequel, please consider that before posting your suggestions.

Thank you for your attention. Smile

I can agree with most of that, especially the stuff about replays, I was disappointed that you couldn't zoom in or anything.

#2 and #5 absolutely. I was aghast to find no fast forward option. Who wants to sit for 13 minutes watching a battle again? Let us cut to the crucial moment when we won/lost. Right now it's like having to watch the whole baseball game all over again instead of fast forwarding to the home run.

The MOST pressing issues are thus:

A) Bug fixes: people not getting funds after matches, units getting stuck, etc... Spend about 2 minutes in these forums and you will find plenty.

B) Some sort of Scoreboard/player list in Theater of War. The game is advertised as a "massively multiplayer online" experience, yet it feels absolutely nothing of the sort. The player basically does his/her own thing and then sees the results arbitrarily appear on the next turn. At the VERY least give us chatroom, Starcraft Battle.net style where people can meet up to find partners/discuss where to attack etc... Please see my post titled "ToW Scoreboard!!!" for more on the topic.

C) Give us a party system, where you can join with a friend and stay talking with each other, even when you go into the barracks, go to check the leaderboards, etc... It's really annoying to have to leave your playgroup just to upgrade a unit etc...

thats a good list their Vth. Also there is a thread about this already Razz But i guess yours is more geared towards Patches and DLC for this game instead of the next one?

Also you havent been on live in a while, it was fun playing with you in the beta.

The retreat order sends units back toward their deployment zone, but this often sends them toward the enemy you want them to retreat from as well. Change it so they go away from the enemy.

Custom battalions with own name, motto, symbol, unit distribution, bonus, and possibly colonel name.

At the very least re-skin maps so they aren't complete copies.

-Have a confirm button for issuing things like crash uplink, WMD, or air strike.

-Have all voice from your units go through your headset, not the TV/speakers

other than that, I agree with what you say.

-Single Player Cutscenes

Reviewers have sighted the Plot is lacking, especially when its a game that unite's the clancyverse chracters. It would be nice to see an update or download that offered a stronger singleplayer component. I can respect that the dynamic nature of the game could make this difficult, but if it can be done it would be nice.

Your assumption is 100% correct. Smile

Thank you, it was my pleasure playing with you. Smile

At the Moment I don't have a broadband connection, therefor I can't access Live and have to rely on UMTS (which is not accepted by Live). Frown

If it would be otherwise, you would see me far more often. Smile

Good idea, that way you can't accidently blow up your own uplink! Smile Maybe some procedure similar to the one in the first trailer would be nice. You say "WMD on Alpha!" the HQ returns "WMD is armed and target locked. Firing on your mark." and then you have to say "Fire!" to ultimately confirm it. Smile

Even better although, this should be optional and only if you're not not too close to them! Smile

I agree, a few more cutscenes would be nice but then again considering how long it would take to generate them, it's rather something Ubi should keep in mind for a potential sequel, as the filesize of the update would probably become too large, although the focus in this game is definitely on the multiplayer TOW part. Oh yes, that would truly add something to the overall atmosphere. Just imagine: You're preparing an Ambush and your units are running through heavy rain, in the distance you hear thunder and a lightning is breaking through the dark sky...or a sandstorm in La Mancha is blocking your sight from time to time etc. Smile

1. Full descriptions of ALL upgrades. I want to know what they do instead of seeing a "Attack +, Range+, Defense +" Maybe even attach some clancyverse fluff to the upgrades. Maybe a video log of what the upgrade does exactly.

2. Some upgrades change the look of your units. I think all upgrades should change a units look. Range Finders on Engineers would give us a tiny laser sight on the side of the helmet for example. Or attaching new types of armor gives the unit slightly different look.

3. Making unit's a little more unique from each other. For example in an infantrymen squad there is only tiny differences between individual units. The most radical differnce I can see is that one or two men in a fire team having either a back pack or gas mask. They all carry the same guns with the same scope and the same armor. It wouldn't take to much just a few tiny randomized differences here and there maybe a soldier carries a sub-machine gun? Or maybe one guy carries around a SAW? Maybe the guy doesn't wear quite as much armor? Or painted a skull on the side of his helmet? Maybe a tank crew gave there tank a name or keep kill marks on the side? Maybe even give us a Unit Editor in the Barracks so we can do it ourselves!

4. More Camo Schemes should be made available.

5. Custom Battalions should be made available.

6. More supports should be made available. Bombing Runs, Spooky Gunships, Chemical Warfare (For the Russkies.) Naval Strikes if were on a coastal map and have a Sea Base opened up, Paratroopers (Are like Force Recon but are more lethal and as a result more expensive and get to an area quicker.) More types of ECM stuff. Maybe some Napalm strikes for the Americans and the Russkies....

7. More animations for units and weapons. Especially on Attack or Defensive weaponless the grenade launchers on the tanks or the microwave weapons on the Euro Weapons?

8. Periodic New Upgrades should be made available to further differentiate the three factions.

9. Find a way to make it possible for members of one faction to interact more on the ToW Screen. Maybe a kind of planning room?

I HAVE A BETTER IDEA! How about the degree you could customize a unit depends on what rank there at? A Green Intrymen Unit would allow the least tinkering for example. While a Legendary Outfit would allow you to change nearly everything from BDU's to weapons (Including captured weapons.) Unit decorations,Painted faces, boonie hats!

This would add another layer on you caring for your unit allow you to give them a kind of personality. A wild bunch of Elite Combat Vets or a Strict and Disciplined unit of Commandos. This would allow you to really connect with all of your units. Shark Mouths on your choppers, Crazy tank names (Just add the text and the font.A Chromehounds kinda feel.) The possiblities are endless!

Hmm I think most of the suggestions that aren't too big to be implemented in a DLC or update have already been said.

A custom battalion would be GREAT though. A custom name, motto (though that may not be so great because for some reason I have a feeling a lot of stupid players would just put "1 eat n00bs 4 livin" or something =/), and the ability to determine how many of each unit you want in your custom battalion, not just preset ones.

Oh and I noticed in the ToW thread that after a war ends, rank and upgrades are retained. Wouldn't that render credits useless for veteran players after the first war?

I believe instead of a unit camera for the air strike, the cutscene box instead becomes a camera that follows them.

that way you would still be able to see from whatever unit you wanted, but still see from the aerial view as well. Also the fighters move pretty fast so switching over in time would suck.

The camo and battalions were suggested as well already.
