Lately, the news headlines are filled with all sorts of horror and drama. Major quakes in China killing +60 thousand; global food shortages that are even hitting the UK and US, massive droughts killing off some crops while killer floods choke the rest; Nations run by religious zealots who profess a desire to extinguish another nation, and a centuries-old feud growing between the worlds two largest religions.

As stated by Endwar's devs, unlike the "great war" of WWI, this will truly be the war to end all wars, perhaps even end more than war itself.

We've seen and heard small clips and snippets of global unrest going on within this game, but its role in the story/gameplay is as yet unclear.

We've also seen **plenty** of games featuring a pre or post-apocalyptic earth. In "pre" games the disaster is always heroically averted, and in "post" games we only see the world after the major events transpire, like in C&C and Battlefield 2142.

Question: Why not let the next installment of endwar take place while the world trembles under not just war, but major natural and social disasters as well? Any ideas? (and plz plz...*no* Aliens, ok? that's just too sterotypical, even for a topic like this! Wink

Here's a starer: Russian forces have been pushed back into the plains of Eastern Europe. Stretched thin by food shortages and second economic depression since 2010, the US encourages the EF to continue the fight in Europe while the US withdraws more troops in preparation for a Siberian assault the next year.

Then, on a burning hot summers eve, a colossal quake strikes southern China, flattening villages, breaking open dams, flooding rivers and killing in only a matter of hours over 500,000 people. As the seismic waves reverberate througout the earths crust, seismographs throughout the world read the same thing: A chain reaction of local "flurries", earthquakes set off by larger ones.

The first major quakes are in Alaska and southern California: Oil pipelines rupture and Rigs catch fire; Bridges and double-decker streets in LA collapse with flaming natural gas lines torching the sky. Entire skycrapers are sent swaying, glass shattering and raining death from above. Neighborhoods are swallowed whole, and landslides continue the destruction days later.

But the Overture has yet to be played: sitting off the coast of N. Africa is the volcanic island of La Palma. In danger for years of collapse, the global quakes trigger its break, sending a massive slab of rock twice the size of the Isle of Man crashing into the Atlantic.
The effect generates a huge wave with the energy equivalent to the combined output of America's power stations working flat out for six months.

After traveling across 4,000 miles of the Atlantic for about nine hours the tsunami hits the Caribbean islands and the east coasts of Canada and the US with devastating effect. It stretchs for many miles and sweeps into the estuaries and harbors for up to 20 miles inland, destroying everything in its path.

Iceland, Spain, Northern europe, Iran, centeral Asia, south america...chaos sweeps the globe. Law and order decay in the Wests largest cities, and the US is forced to enact Martial law. With the war in Europe simmering down (for now), the EF dispatches 'peacekeeping' forces to the US. Meanwhile, a breakdown in order in the government of the EF is giving rise to calls for a single "strong man" to unite the peoples in this, the globes darkest hour. Democracy is sidelined and militancy takes over as drums of war beat ever louder. The Endwar has only begun... Twisted

I think that the game focuses on the military aspect. But it would be good if there was an opening movie going into detail about the run up to the 'Endwar'.

Wasn't that drowing scenario from frontlines when the hurrican hit alaska and the straydogs were left....stray to defend it, as well as to be fema like people.

Still I cant say alien chicks come and I can teach em how to love...that is sad is one of my dreams....but oh well :P

BTW, dam you must have really bad dreams...but your basically destroying all overpopulated countries.. like china, Africa, and Western USA....man that is a bit extreme... but nevertheless plausible.

what game, Endwar? yeah, but this is a portion of a hypothetical scenario for EWII. Just adding some intense drama.
