I thought the only Russian involved was the Russian General, and that he did it because he's paranoid like me.

No, and the little story they had was ridiculous...the reasons the US and Europe went to war over were ridiculous, such a thing would never happen unless one of the two was taken over by a new regime, like if a modern day nazi germany succeeded in taking over all of europe. And the little story they had on the russian elite manipulating the sides was really lacking.

right. The Russian plot to trick the sides to go to war was laughable. They attack a European airbase near the Russian border "disguised as terrorists" (if using the exact same equipment painted black counts), then they jump in instead of sitting back and letting the two destroy each other.

Yeah. I was really disappointed with Russia. This game made them look like highschool dropout morons who just liked killing people, without any thought about anything else. I am myself from Russia, and i was slightly offended by how Russia was portrayed in this game.

True. While I actually like a good deal of the infantry sayings("All complaints can be directed to my fist!") it certainly leaves you with an impression that the Spetsnaz Guard Brigade doesn't require mental health screenings for joining.

The question should be "Does Endwar has any storyline at all?".

How's this for a brief summary of an alternative storyline I was thinking about.

First events go like they do in endwar, nuclear war in middle east cripples oil industry. Causing much political and economic strife and strengthening Russia.

Natural disaster in the US, the super volcano under Yellowstone National Park erupts, destroying the nation's agricultural industry and crippling the rest. Combined with oil crisis the world market crashes to a level never before seen.

The EU federates after the middle eastern crisis like in endwar, but in the face of threatening russia and economic downfall a nationalist party takes firm control of the federation(much like how the Nazi party took control amidst post WWI Germany's economic and political problems).

Russia now on par once again with the other world superpowers flexes it's mussels and a second 3 way cold war begins.

Effective missile shields remove the deterrence effect of Nucleur ICBMs and the 3 nations all become more bold with their actions.

Conflicts reminiscent of Vietnam and Korea spring up all around the globe and sparks engulf into flames. War is declared on all fronts and endwar's campaign begins.

I don't know it might sound fairly stupid...but it certainly to me at least is much more feasible then the sorry reasons for war we got in endwar.

Actually now that I think of it if the geologists are right about what happens when(not if, it will sometime) yellowstone erupts then all mpas would turn into snow ones...maybe a minor eruption then...

Really what i'd want to see is a each faction getting their own campaign and story for how they arrived at the third world war.

But failing that a well thoughtout and explained prelude would be the very minimal i'd expect. God help me if the Russians turn up with the top hat and cane like last time please, make all the factions b@stards it's not that hard to do:

Iraq falls into civil war Iran invades to stabilise and grab some oil feilds

Israel and saudi arabia are all like "Oh no you di'int"

War (not nuclear) breaks out in middle east

Mid east Oil prices rise

European Union fedralises builds a giant laser fires it into space and up americas arse. They talk about how it is totally peaceful and the Yanks are complete cvnts since they launched rods of gods a few years back. they also decide they don't want to be dependent on Russian oil by bullying it out of neigbour states and effectively start putting in motion a plan to unite Europe under one flag.

America is full of crazy neo cons and are angry at Europe because they wished they'd thought of super duper lasers first, plus their plan to get oil is uber cool, especially since they aren't to hot about buying oil from the russians and canadians because no man should be a slave to a canadian and the Russians are using the money to re-arm and make weapons which they're selling to Iran which are totally beating on their bro's israel.

The Russians hate the Europeans because their "pishing in my yard, yo" and are angry at america because it's full of neocons and their talking shi't about their mother(russia)


the sh:t hits the fan when Canadians strike a hellalot of oil and US takes it as a sign from god that the Canadians should have been Americans all along.
Russia arrives uninvited in caucasus smelling of vodka and paint thinner.

I mostly ignore the story line. Considering I thought, and would vastly prefer if, Clancy games were supposed to take place in you know Clancyverse the storyline of this game is especially annoying.

The first R6 was based on the book so that series should take place in Ryanverse. Splinter Cells appear in R6 V2 so Splinter Cell and R6 would be in the same Universe which should technically place SC in Ryanverse.

End War/Hawx take place in SC verse which means they should be in the future of Ryanverse and Mitchell is in End War so GR should be in Ryanverse.

Clearly they are not, so I'd like to know when did those games move so far away from Clancyverse? R6 does still use Ding, but everything else is messed up.

I don't want the TC games to be in the Ryanverse.

All TC games are in the new EWverse.

The EWverse follows the same timeline as the Ryanverse but then all the TC games add onto the end which all leads to EW.

Actually, no TC game has followed the Ryanverse since Splinter Cell, as Russia has been a common adversary even though in the Ryanvers Russia becomes a member of NATO and an ally of the US. Which is one of the reasons why I don't want the Tom Clancy games to be stuck with a universe which has already been extensively covered by Clancy's books.
