Although BF 2142 has taught me that all of the EU has a British accent, I don't think this is true. I've seen a few games featuring a united Europe, but they always seem to lump everyone into one country or ethnicity when it comes to voicing. This makes sense financially (A lot more voice actors to hire...) and obviously saves time for developers, but I'd definitely enjoy the option to change the accent and/or language of a European Federation battalion, or perhaps change it depending on squad. How about you?

I'm with you. Hopefully we hear a range of different accents and if it's not critical, maybe some different languages.

Agree Yes I agree... I am from britain but I'd still change it. Some of the voices for european countries on games are terrible, I was playing faces of war when some german shouts out in what sounded like a british butler??????????

I just thinks it just adds so much more, just hearing your customised troops on the battlefield with their own voice sounds speaking in english-with dutch/german/french tongue responding at your orders, and of course the usual native language of the troops, just would be so friggin awesome to order your troops to engage and first confirm you order and then scream their orders in their own language to their troops.

Yeah kind of off topic but another feature I like is when your soldiers change the way they talk depending on what they're doing. E.g you have a french soldier talking english but as soon as he is attacked he reverts back to cursing in french, and when you click on him afterward he answers but his voice is shaken. What do u think?

That would certainly be a nice idea, although it's most likely pretty difficult to implement such a feature! Smile

yah, it's a cool idea. but it would be difficult to do considering how much dialogue they are putting into the game. remember they said that every one of your units has a different voice and personality. each squad leader has a different name, so they're like actual characters. so they have to make the voices for all those characters in the different ways, and also do the random chatter that they mentioned. so then you take, english, russian, and then whatever european languages they decide to do. thats ALOT of dialogue. it's been mentioned that they plan to have like 30,000 lines of dialogue or something. 16,000 lines being random chatter. so take that and multiply it for how many ever languages your thinking about.......thats ALOT!

40,000 lines of dialogue with 9,000 lines of unit chatter if I remember correctly. I can easliy see the EF speaking the same language simply because it would be much more convienient to do so. Think if the EF had to get every order translated before they sent it on because of the whole multi nation thing.

yah, true. that does make sense. not only from a financial point of view for the devs, but tactically too for the game.

haha, i've seen this in movies too. they have a European character, but a brittish actor (Captain Picard anyone?)

i think it should be random instead of an option. Sort of like the French Foreign Legion, like theres german units and brittish units and polish units and spanish units and italian etc.

if they've gone this far perfecting the voice recognition software, they could at least get the voice acting right.

he's not talking about the language, besides the EF would absolutely have to have a standard language for orders and stuff. no he's talking about the accent.

And realistic, don't think you'd go of in a complete english rant while dutch/german/french is your first language.

Sorry, Sorry, For the revive, but I couldn't resist. I have some questions and I know reviving a topic is one of the sins to a forum, and looked down upon, but its better than remaking a new one and getting yelled at for that. So Sorry.

But my thoughts about this would be what accent do you think they would use if they would use one accent? I don't think it would be british because britian / England isn't part of the EF from my understanding of the story line. Plus looking at the pictures of the EF troopers, they have that Helmut which reminds me of Star Wars, (The black helmuts of the start destroyer) which I believe was german origin? So you think they will have a german accent? Or would that be getting to into WW2 of Germany, Russia, and America?

Then on top of that, you think the Russians will speak in a russian accent? Or will this be like BF2 and use their original voices. So I know commands will be in english, but will they respond in the corresponding language? Think there will be an option of speaking in russian for the russian side?

IDK, these are just my thoughts. Sorry for the revive, but like I said earlier, I didn't want to start another topic when this is previously made.

First, there is nothing wrong with reviving a topic. Second, while something like unit accents isn't exactly critical to the game, it would be definitely be a great touch. It would simply make the game more interesting and realistic. I also like the cussing in their own language idea, though I don't think that will happen.
