I would bet that Russia will for sure. Assuming the PAK-FA stays on track, its suppose to start have already started flight testing wasnt it? And if all goes well it could be in full production within 11 years. And then if they export it, india will likely get a hold of it.

As for china. They've apparently started designing a 5th gen. (i think someone on here posted something about it a while back) so its POSSIBLE (as roughly 20 years [as if i remember correctly it was started in early 2000 and not in the past year] to get a plane out is quite possible and it usually happens in less) but it is much less likely that they will have a 5th gen. plane by then assuming they dont buy exports of the Pak-fa

I didn't say they they wouldn't have 5th gen by then, just not Raptor-capable fighters.

Gentlemen, meet HMS Karel Doorman:

Contract with Damen/Schelde was just signed by the MOD. It'll be the largest ship everr operated by the RNLN, displacing more weight than the previous Karel Doorman, a carrier.

Has 2 landingspots for large helicopters like chinooks or NH-90's. Heavy crane and is able to carry the entire inventory of the Dutch Armed Forces, up to the PzH-2000 and Leopard 2a6.
It will serve as a landing platform(doesn't have a dock, but can disembark units through the rear ramp) transport, tanker and as hospital ship.
It's supposed to be in service by 2013, when the Zuiderkruis will be taken out of service, after 37 years.
Pricetag=365,5 million euros

Seems ideal for some smaller navies i know that can't afford/crew both a tanker and a large sealift ship. If it wasnt for the cost I know the RNZN would probably love to get their hands on one to replace their tanker - they only have sealift ship so when its out of action, theyre stranded. How does the fuel storage compare to dedicated tankers like the amsterdam?

6700 ton dieselolie, 1660 ton vliegtuigbrandstof en 500 ton goederen te vervoeren

Trans:
6700 tons of dieseloil, 1660 tons of aviation fuel/kerosene and 500 tons of goods(bulk, otherwise)

Don't know the precise cargo specs of the JSS ATM. Keep in mind that they're probably just ramping up for construction.

I don't see the Kiwi's operating such a large ship, though. It's 200+ meters long, that's a big ship. Even with a number of years operating the Rotterdam, Johan de Witt and Amsterdam(which is fairly large for a replenisher) it's going to be a stretch for the RNLN

Yeah, it would be too big for them, though ive heard the NZ government is apparently interested in a ship of that sort. I remember Merwede's concept was specifically mentioned, damned if i can find the source though. I wonder how much smaller a JSS-type vessel could go without ruining its effectiveness in the tanker role. Guess it depends on how the navy in question uses it.

so idk how old this article is but it basically talks about the USAF's priorities for the upcoming years and how it wants at least 1/3 of its force to be unmanned by 2047.

Actually i'm thinking that the Doorman will lug around rather large supplies, considering it'll weigh more than just about anything we've ever had.

It's meant to simultaneously replace the zuiderkruis and increase the navy's logistical and seabasing capabilities. Actually when the Zuiderkruis will be taken out of active duty, the JSS will only have been completed, but it won't reach full operational capability untill 2015,which 'll leave us with only fully fledged RAS replenisher for two years. the LPD's can RAS, but they're not meant for it.

A light aircraft carrier concept from navantia, basically an elongated version of their helicopter carrier design to be operated by spain and australia. Don't think they managed to interest anyone with it, shame.
