Somebody said that Ubisoft said something about wanting to create a game where YOU are in the heat of things, controlling your army, and people got into a debate about wether not it's going to be a FPS or an RTS. Then the topic got derailed by flamers.
This is NOT the same as the 360 or PSP version of Battlezone. This is the 1998 version from Activision for Windows 95. http://uk.videogames.games.yah...ttlezone-ad224e.html I played this game for quite a bit fequently, and sometimes I go back to it. The graphics suck now compared to every other game out there, but the design was pretty flawless and in no time I was leading my own attack raids! This is, really, the only game I have ever seen that is truely a first person shooter where you jump into a hover tank, build your own base with its own defences, then build an army and order them to attack the enemy base, and be able to join in the attack (or defense) with your own hover tank (Or bomber... Or Turret... Or Scavenger... ) with customized weapons you bought from your armory (you can customize your individual units' weapons and commands, but it's VERY slow to do sinse sometimes your units forget how to drive) FPS/RTS So I bet what ubisoft is talking about is something similar to an FPS/RTS? Basically a shooter/strategy half-breed of EndWar? Because if so...AWESOME! |

Don't think so. Plus they discontinued the game a long time ago. And what I was talking about is how people were debating wether or not this next game was gonna be an RTS or FPS and people said it would be impossible to make it both, so I just showed an example of how it CAN be both and how it was successful in the past. Add speech recognition to Battlezone '98 and you got yourself a First-Person EndWar Strategic Shooter. |

I still have a copy of this game somewhere...
I still say it's a good idea for a remake. It's a concept which has been proven to work, and it really would function a lot like Endwar with more depth. Good suggestion for additions in the sequel. ----- V^^^V ----- I want my meals to think for myself. |
