The credit for the general format of these rules goes to a fellow moderator of mine, bitebug2003. I thank him for allowing me to use these for this forum.

Hi all,

In order for us to moderate these forums effectively, here are a couple of things members need to take into consideration when they are about to make a post on the forum, and a few new guidelines.

0. Index

  • II. Posting a topic/replying in an existing thread
  • III: Some other things to take into account

    I. Before posting

It is in everybody's best interest if you keep your posts to the correct forums.

Useless threads will be closed without explanations if you want to know why your topic was locked, read the rules to find out.

B: Has this topic been posted before?

Lately, too many new threads containing questions that have already been posted here several times are being created. The forum's being flooded with numerous similar threads. We ask that new members look through the topics of the first 2 or 3 pages, before creating a new thread about a subject that has probably been discussed already.

Also, we would like to report the search function is working again aswell. It could very well be you're best friend on the Forums. For a detailed description on how to use this function, follow this link.

Duplicate threads ' i.e. threads similar to the ones we already have ' will be treated as useless. The search function is quick, easy, and always available - we strongly urge you to use it before creating a new topic.

II. Posting a topic/replying in an existing thread

If you're sure you're in the correct forum and you're about to make a post, please keep these guidelines in mind. These rules should be pretty clear and simple to most, but seem to be hard to understand and follow to some. So for clarification, below is a summary of some of the main points of the Terms of Use. Everyone please note, that when you sign up to the forums, you agree to abide by the terms and conditions of these forums. It may be worth reading through them if you aren't sure.

    1. Foul language masked or otherwise will not be tolerated, and is strongly discouraged. In other words: no bypassing the auto censor! This rule will be enforced more strictly from now on.
    2. Do not harass other users - Be respectful of other Community Members and please keep discussions tasteful. If you want to argue with someone do it in a private message (PM) please. This includes posting threads about specific users.
    3. Do not disrupt the flow of a thread by 'hijacking' it. Hijacked topics will be closed!
    4. Do not post links to illegal downloads or warez, and do not ask for any - violators will be banned on sight without ANY warning whatsoever. Consider this your first and last warning.
    5. Do not post in other languages other than in English - This is an English speaking Forum and it is unfair to others who can not join in a discussion, because they can't read what is said. It is also incredibly difficult - if not impossible - to moderate. Posts in other languages will be edited or removed at the Moderator's discretion.
    6. Do not post in all caps, as this is considered extremely rude on a forum. This goes the same for all bold.
    7. Do not bump threads - popular topics will stay at the top of the forum, unpopular ones will disappear to the second page and beyond. It's the way a forum works, don't try to fight it.
    8. Do not double post - no triple, quadruple, quintuple, ... posting either.
    9. The Ubi Forums are for all ages, please take this into account when posting. Inappropriate posts will be removed and the user will be warned and/or suspended at the Moderator's discretion.
    10. If you wish to reveal something about the content of Endwar, please add a 'SPOILER' tag to the thread title. By not doing this, you may inadvertently spoil the game(s) for others who may not have played them yet.
    11. Remember, this is a forum, not a chat room. Proper grammar/spelling is appreciated. It makes your post easier to read, therefor, more people will most likely join in the discussion.

For the full version, please read the Terms of Use page.

Failure to abide by these Rules of Conduct will result in the removal of your posting privileges.

The moderators are here to make sure the forums remain fun for all involved, and those that come here with the express purpose of causing trouble will not be welcome and will be banned.

Mod bashing will not be allowed under any circumstances. Moderators are volunteers. They didn't volunteer to take your abuse.

Use common sense, if you think posting something may offend some people, it probably will so don't post it. If someone offends you DO NOT respond in kind, report it to a moderator and we will deal with it.

No swearing, No insults, and no harassing of members. These are the 3 main rules. Be civil and have fun and respect your fellow members.

    Back to the list

III: Some other things to take into account

A: Questions about Signatures and Avatars
We want to keep the forums fast loading so we have to minimize usage of pictures to a reasonable size. Please follow guidelines posted here and restrict test posting to that forum. You can also read the second post in this thread for a Sig/Ava guide.

    B: The internet
This is a place to have fun, and as such, statements made here shouldn't be taken too seriously. The internet in general shouldn't be taken too seriously.
When people start to overreact to posts on the forum, the fun gets sucked right out of it. Try to remember that whenever reading a post directed at you. The use of smilies could help better convey your emotions in a post.

    C: "Official________ Thread" threads
We've noticed lately people seem to be calling every new thread they create the "Official _____ thread" to draw more attention to it. From now on this will no longer be allowed. When the mods see an overabundance of one particular kind of threads (or numerous threads about one and the same topic) it will be up to them to create one official thread to replace all others in order to prevent flooding. Using the appendage "Official" to make your own threads stand out more will no longer be tolerated. If you do create another official thread the mods will edit the title at their discretion - you have been warned.

    Back to the list

IMPORTANT: If you break a rule once, you'll be warned. If you break one a second time you will be warned again. If you then break one a third time you'll receive a one week suspension. If you break one again, you will receive a two week suspension. The fifth offense will result in a permanent ban from all Ubi-forums, as will the evasion of minor suspensions. Disciplinary action might be greater or worse depending on the severity of the offense. This will be done at the sole discretion of the mods.
Always remember that just because Mods aren't posting, doesn't mean they're not present and observing the forum.

Thanks for your attention and your cooperation,

    --Endwar Moderation Team--

The credit for the general format of the sig/ava/pm rules guide goes to a fellow moderator, bitebug2003, who I would like to thank for letting me borrow it for this forum.

Please review the Sig/Ava guidelines here.

The maximum allowed for sig pics is 500 in width by 150 in height for all images combined (i.e. all images that you use have to fit in a 500 x 150 box). The maximum file size should be no more than 60kb.
You can use up to 4 lines of text, including spaces (each line no more than 80 characters in length).
Avatars should be no more than 15kb in file size. If you visit other forums and their guidelines are smaller, I suggest you go with their's to avoid problems.

    IMPORTANT - AVATAR RESIZING
The Forum software automatically resizes the Avatar's to 64 x 64 pixels.
However the bytes remain the same as the original size.
It is very important that you stick to 15kb and ensure that before you set your avatar that it doesn't exceed the dimensions and size set out above.
There is another reason why this needs to be enforced.
If the link to the avatar doesn't work - the Forum software doesn't resize it - messing up the thread layout.

I appreciate your cooperation on this.

    ADDING SIGNATURE AND AVATARS

To place a pic in your signature do the following:

    1. Click GO drop down menu followed by Personal Zone then Profile (1.)

    ]

    2. Click View/Edit Complete Profile then scroll down to the Signature section and place the URL of the pic you want to use in the white Edit Box (3.) It must look like this:
[ IMG ] URL to Imagehost NOT to your Hard drive [ /IMG ] taking out all spaces.

    3. To add an Avatar, do step 1, but after clicking View/Edit Complete Profile scroll down to the Avatar / Picture URL section and click on Edit (2.)
A window will pop up which looks like this:

    4. Make sure you select URL for your Custom Avatar (4.) and NOT Upload Custom Avatar or else you'll get a Permissions Error.

    5. After entering the URL for your avatar in the box, click on Update Avatar. After a few seconds, you'll get a confirmation that your avatar has been updated successfully.

    6. To remove an avatar, click on Edit (2.) then once the window opens, click on No Avatar (5.), then click on Select This One. After a few seconds, you'll get a confirmation that your avatar has been updated successfully.

Please Note: You need to ensure that your chosen avatar and signature images are stored on an Imagehost that allows remote-linking.
There are many sites on the internet that are free, and where you can store your images.
'Hotlinking' images from your hard drive doesn't work.
    6. If you are unsure how to accomplish the above, or are having problems, please PT someone and get help.

    PRIVATE MESSAGES

To Private Message someone, do the following:

Click the GO drop down menu followed by Personal Zone then Private Messaging

Click the New Private Message Button and a window will pop up.
Highlight a username in the Left Column then click on the Add >> Button.
The selected username will now appear in the Right Column

Click on the Invite Members Button to initiate the Private Message.

NO ADDING TEXT TO YOUR AVATAR TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE YOU HAVE A CUSTOM TITLE!

    IMPORTANT ALL READ!!!
Avatars & Sigs; Keep them clean and appropriate. Determination of what is clean and/or appropriate is at the sole discretion of the admins and mods. Violators will not be warned and will be banned. Consider this your first and final warning. If you think your sig or avatar may be inappropriate, it probably is, so don't risk a ban over it. This will be strictly enforced, regardless of who the perpetrator is.

NOTE: The Sig and Avatar threads on all UBI forums are monitored. Anyone caught trying to increase their post count on the sly by spamming the test threads of several different forums will be noticed.

    IMAGE FORMATS
Please use Image Formats: *.JPEG or *.PNG.
These are smaller in size than *.BMP.
So if you are using a *.BMP Signature, please change it to *.JPEG or *.PNG.
Doing so will speed up page loads.

Thank you for your attention and cooperation Smile

This is a small tutorial on how to use the search function on these forums, which brings you a wealth of information, and cuts down on duplicate threads.

First thing you want to do is to click on the "Find" button:

After clicking on that, a small text box will appear labeled "Keyword Search" type what you wish to search for in that box, then click "GO". (Make sure that you have "Search this forum only" checked off.)

For this particular search, I put in the keywords "Suggested weapons for Vegas 2". A page similar to this will show up for you:

As you can see, I found a thread matching the exact thing I want to talk about, along with 2 other threads that provide information with the keywords I searched for.

If at any point you get too many results, I would suggests using more keywords to refine the results, and you will hopefully find the thread which best suits you.

Using the search button is very important, and it is suggested before you create a new thread.

    Thank you for your attention
