Hey guys, new here and just have a question. I have done a search already on this topic and I have found one main post about this topic of which system to get it on, but I was looking for more depth to it all. Plus my circumstance is a little bit different than just choosing one.

In my case I don't have either an XBox 360 or a PS3, but I plan on saving up to buy one for this game. (Thats how much I have been looking forward to this game.) So with this in mind, I was wondering if we could go into the more technical side for this discussion.

Frankly, almost all my friends have 360's, and few have PS3's, but overall as a system what would be a better buy? PS3 has Blue Ray disc which can hold more, since it allows more storage. Now with the game in production do you think they will use the Blue Ray for its greater Capabilities? Better Sound Quality with more room? Graphics? (Who knows what else they could do with a blue ray.) Not to mention the Blue Ray has won the war for next gen disc usage.

On the other hand, more have 360's (in my group), there are far more games out as of now, (Though I can't wait till Kingdom hearts 3, and Little Big Planet) and XBox Live has a solid layout / support. Though it does cost monthly.

So any thoughts more on the technical side of the debate? Think they will use more storage that the Blue Ray has? Think PS3 will have more loading times? Anything you can think of will help with the decision, and I thank you for your time. Hope to hear from anyone with a solid opinion. Thanks.

(Please don't get to angry at me for reviving such a topic.)

Now is that just because you own and XBox 360? Or is it just because of the majority?

Good that ur buying a next gen console, I'd personally go for the 360 (my preference), but PS3 is fine either.

If most of your friends have a 360 I'd buy that, and I would't worrry about hte storage on the discs. If it's blu-ray it will prolly fit all on ther, and if it's DVD they might need 2 disc (MP and SP) which isn't a big deal if ya ask me (BTW next gen disc usage war, it wasn't even a friggin conflict if you ask me, I didn't notice **** about it, just like 99% other people I know who are in to dvd and stuff).

After I read this I'd say buy a 360 since that seems to be the platform your friends paly on, and assuming those friends are going to paly End War. (unless you like little big planet very myuch, then I would buy the PS3).

I wouldn't even dare debate about the loading aspects of the game ( also becaus I'm afraid of the fanboys) But since I play xbox I don't expect long load times, althouhgh the PS3's might be shorter ( unless they decide to port a PS3 game again ......).

Compression algorithms and multi-layer DVDs are radically increasing the storage area of the medium to the point that first generation Blu-Ray DVDs are only useful for their default HD quality, which doesn't even matter if you don't have a HD capable TV.

Assuming your friends will buy and play end war, then it sounds like you should go for the Xbox.

Its all down to personal preference though, and I went for a ps3.

I have to say that on the games I have played on both consoles I prefer the ps3 community. And monthly payments didn't appeal to me either!

As for loading times, I can assure you that the ps3 is fine... I've never had a problem.

Also, I just prefered the controllers and style of the ps3 - so again its all down to you Smile

I personally prefer the XBox 360. Off the top of my head, here are some of the pros and cons for each console.

360 PROS

- The online runs better from what I hear.

- It costs $100 to $200 dollars cheaper.

-As mentioned above, if you have friends getting Endwar for the 360 then go with that so you can join them online.

- I personally prefer the regular wireless controller of the 360 to the PS3's six axis motion controller.

- Again in my opinoin, there are a lot of 360 exclusive titles that blow PS3 games out of the water. To name a few, Gears of War, Halo 3, Bioshock, and Mass Effect. Although Bioshock and Mass Effect are also on the PC, the only console they are on is the 360. One of the only PS3 exclusive titles I feel worth mentioning is Metal Gear Solid 4.

360 CONS

- The online costs money to use whereas the PS3's online does not.

- The 360 is pron to needing repairs

- The 360 does not come with Blu Ray while the PS3 does. Though it should be noted that the 360 does in fact double as a DVD player.

- Xbox Live can sometimes be screwed up and either take a long time to do anything or just not work, though these problems don't happen often. This is a complaint because the Live costs about $50 per year to use while the PS3 online is free.

I think that about covers all the main points. If I have forgotten anything, someone feel free to say something. Hope this helps.

Well, I would have to agree with what everyone else is saying, go with the 360. Microsoft has a far better setup for online play, and if you're wanting to play with your friends then that is definitely an added bonus.

As for the storage differences, it's already been made quite clear that EndWar is being made for the 360 and they're simply making it work on the PS3 also. So it's not like ones going to be better than the other. They're both going to be great. So it really depends on what controller layout you prefer.

Since I'm not some dedicated "fanboy", I realized that the xbox truly does have a much better controller(fits the hand better and easier to use joysticks and whatnot)...but few PS3 supporters will agree with that purely because they refuse to support anything but SONY. If it makes it easier to understand them, just think of them as you would a girl who spends 2-3hrs a day "getting ready" and wears ridiculously uncomfortable clothes and shoes....and when asked if they're uncomfortable, they deny it.

Even though the PS3 is a better performing console, it doesn't have the user-friendly possibilities of the XBOX. It will eventually, but the real decision you have to make is: do you like Gears of War and Ninja Gaiden, or Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy? In other words...look at the exclusive games on each console and make your decision there. Oh, and in case you heard the little tidbit about MGS4 needing more space on the blue-ray disc....that would be because they have huge texture maps to increase the detail and make it look better, not so much on the overload of content.

I'm no fanboy either, and I infinitely prefer the ps3 controllers... 'fits the hand better' is totally subjective and again down to personal choice.
(I don't refuse to support anything but sony, as my pc will prove Smile )

TaSniper, I don't think cheaper works as an Xbox pro seeing as eventually you will spend as much or more with those continual payments.

Exclusive titles are important, and to be fair Joker has already specified interest in some ps3 exclusives.

But as I said before you will have more fun playing with your friends, so if they plan to buy the game too then you should probs go with the Xbox.

If most of your friends have an Xbox 360 go for the Xbox.

Blue Ray doesnt do anything. It just means that if it is used to its full potential the Xbox version will have an extra disc, which isnt a problem for most people.

360, here's why:

*More comfortable controller (built to fit the hand, including the left analog stick is closer up).
* Better online ($4 ever month online and M$ has better servers. Also you get one month free to check it out and also games usually come with x amount of free months).
* Greater game variety (GoW 2 looks amzing in November. Besides, you're going to be playing more than one game).
*Blu-Ray loads games slower. Since you're forced to install these games to your HD, more space is used up.
*360's hardware failure rate has gone fown dramatically since June, because they added a new chip. Besides, ps3 is beginning to recieve internal errors. And if you do RRoD, you get a 3 year warranty from M$.
*Graphics don't differ due to the factbthat most games are ported from the 360 to the ps3 (ps3's technology is harder to work on).

That's all for now.

Wow after few months of PS3 coming out... most of Australia in ranking... 32% of Xbox fans have moved to PS3 as the PS3 will advance and succeed over 360... the advanced technology over powers 360... and gameplay as if anyone who owns GTA IV has seen... 360 didnt get all of GTA like ps3 did... hence why microsoft brought out sonys half to exclusive download 4 extra gameplay... thats because u still run DVD while blu-ray has 10 - 20x more storage capacity... that guy who said bout compression is a load of bull... its ****... most gaming companys are struggling to keep 360 fans happy... the power of ps3 is advanced... 360 won in getting a powerful console out b4 sony... so sony went all out failing or not... now look at how many people here are changing... sony has succeeded to over throw 360 here in AUS and ive met lots of people online who have changed to ps3 from 360 from 8 other countries... so if u want the best gaming yet... ps3... 360 has lost touch... we a advancing to future power... 360 is 2000-2015... ps3 has power so much that its really a 2017-2025 type of techno... and it keeps building up everytime... DVD will soon be dead and blue-ray will take over... so start saving boys and girls... coz u will need to re-buy 360 or get blue-ray player... coz u aint getting upgrade.... PS3 has the most advantage in this game... but hey... u might be in luck since most of the ubisoft guys like xbox so they will be building around u... so we get same **** gameplay as u... whilst we could of had more... xbox has a massive failure rate...and all fans like guy above and MS is denying it... but that new chip has hardly changed it at all... the controller isnt better on 360... i dont even need to start on that one... online ps3 is free and no i admit and kill guy above with better server to say that its actually same... game variety is only coz u took advantage of being out months earlier... but i have come to the fact i love how xbox fans say only reason we support sony is coz thats it... when u guys defend it just as bad... but like i said... lots of people have converted... including me... lots of games xbox had waas great... halo etc... but it just dont cut the ps3 power and fun... gameplay... updates that bring better things... space and freedom of gaming and saving... i think MS should stick with PC's and Laptops... they started there... they should finish there... make computer more better... sony has made consoles 4 years... why go against them... they would of left building ps3 if they really thought what xbox fans still think in that 360 is better... yet i have a ps3 in my house... funny that...

To guy above with the triple dot fetish:

Post a link to a legitimate site about this 32% conversion thing.

And the only thing PS3 has going for it is MGS4. There's some game called Afrika where all you do is look at ****ing animals for ****ing hours.

And the 360 controller is more comfortable, ps3's analog sticks are too far away from the triggers... If not more sexy:

And games that come out for 360 and PS3 ARE THE EXACT SAME ****ING THING. Listen, developers are used to 360's hardware, so why waste time (time = money) learning how to use new hardware when you can easily just port the game.

And the chip decreased the failure rate and you have a 3 year warranty...

and

GTA 4 WAS DELAYED BECAUSE OF THE PS3!

Hey, Thanks guys. I am sorry if I somewhat started a war between consoles, I guess i should of somewhat realized thats what this might turn into.

I have to thank you all for all your real legit points, they all make sense. I am still at a loss though. When I read this I swayed in the ps3 favor.

I am definatley (sorry spelling) a Final Fantasy fan. I wouldn't call myself a fan boy, but I do own a ps1 and a ps2. So about the controller suiting me, I grew up with the playstation controller. (Though I am not gonna lie, the xbox controller is damn fine and comfortable....).

The only thing holding me back would be more friends have 360's, and they have no clue if they are gonna get it though. (I am one of few that like strats in my group.) And the only thing countering that would be the monthly xbox live bill. And I love gears, halo, and the bunch but being a strat lover, I could probably live without.

So I guess its down to:
PS3:
-PS3 titles, square enix, final fantasy, etc.
-Free Online

XBox:
-All the other titles / fps's
-Xbox Live
-More friends have it.

IDK, I guess I should wait more to see which system my friends will buy it on, because one or two of them have both. IDK.....

If anyone else wants to keep talking about this, by all means go ahead and help. Plus learning more about both systems always helps. How is the PS3 online? I heard its getting Home? Or something? I have seen Xbox lives stuff, and I have heard alot about the problems my friends have had with it, but I havn't heard to much stuff about the playstation....

Xbox live bill? If you really can't afford $4 a month, you shouldn't be getting a console at all...

PS3. i hav both 360 and PS3. RTSs dont really feel good on a 360 (ive played C&C3 on it). I am a PS3 fan and all. 360 hav good shooter feel but i believe that a PS3 has better controls for RPGs, racing, platforms and everything else. Your friends might hav 360s but u hav some that hav PS3s so ur not missing much. overall go for the PS3 better games are coming out for it then the 360 nothing good except GOW2 and Halo Wars and a few others. PS3 has MGS4, (GTA4 controls r better), FFXIII and Versus, Grand Tursimo 5, LittleBigPlanet, and i can go on and on. You just of to make ur mind up for the long run not the short run u'll waste ur money if u buy a 360 and u want to play Kingdom Hearts 3 later on.

P.S. There r slight difference in the PS3 graphics from the 360. both pay more attention to 1 or more areas. PS3 ive notice pays more attention to detial in the environment and so on. 360 is more on there physics and effect detail. Both give great detail to facial and model detail (Mass Effect and Uncharted to good examples). I am a PS3 fan u might think of me bias but i dont care i just gave a very neutral look at it.

I think PS3 does have some things going for it but DEFINATELY 360 is better in my opinion. With the savings you make from buying one you can easily pay for xbox live, no probs. Also with PS3 taking overs in Australia, i have no idea what the hell you are on about. I live in Australia and nearly everyone at my school that has next gen is with a 360. And checking Wikipedia you will see that worldwide sales of 360's are roughly triple that of the PS3. I will admit the PS3's standard extra storage space and blu-ray are advantages but 360 has a well set up network for online play. I did however have to get my xbox fixed due to red rings of doom! however it was back within 4 days and i recieved free xbox live months with it =-)There, since then, has been no issues for over a year. Veryhappy
