the president of the European council effectively already exists as the rotating presidency; no real powers just chairs meetings.

I thought most papers were hyping it by calling it President of Europe, even though it's only president of the European Council and granted it'll gain more importance than it did previously it's not as major a deal as people are making it out to be

I thought the reason people had problems with it because the EU would be able to pass laws easier meaning we would have less say in laws that affect us.


Politics is annoying, sooner we get rid of countries the better IMO.

you're right, In the UK most of the papers tried to play the treaty off as something that would see the construction of a 1984 superstate with tony blair return riding a giant blue elephant to take top job.
whats really going to happen is europe will lose a few bureaucrats and be given enough powers to run it's affairs without taking (too) long to come to a decision.
