Ok, so here's the pic, I know I might be double posting and sorry about that, but I'm not just providing a link I will talk about each of the screenshots and invite comments;
1. Russian definitely have women in the Spetsnaz forces in the Endwar universe, according to this preview: "The Spetsnaz Guard Brigade Wolves may very well be the single most feared military unit in the entire world... This has led to many critics who say that the Wolves are little more than sociopaths and thugs who enjoy killing. However, this criticism is both unfair and untrue. The men and women who make up this group have just seen so much conflict and war that what is considered inhuman to others no longer fazes them. Here's a pic that shows a female Russian sniper , for those who think this is bizarre to have a female sniper, they should look up Russian WW2 history, where there were females sniper. INFO: Russians are using an upgraded AK-74 while snipers use the new OSV-120 .50 caliber sniper rifle developed/fielded in 2016. Spetsnaz forces use their body armor under their clothing enhancing the terrifying image of bears coming down to kick your a--! EEC forces: Truly an evolution of Rainbow 6 in the sense that there are multiple European special forces/counter-terrorist units that make up the ranks of the Kommandos. Europe has chosen to maintain the specialization and different techniques and tactics that these different forces bring to the table with the intent to always maintain surprise and keep their enemies off balance because you (the enemy) won't be sure which fighting style or tactic will be used! Holy cow, I love that idea. The EEC forces are equipped with rifles that fire a 7mm caliber round and also have .50 caliber sniper rifles. They see themselves apparently as descendants of the Knights of old, in the sense that they aim to fight according to the codes of chivalry, and to be the gallant heroes. Damn, I had hoped the US would be seen as that, I guess we suffer too much from negative world opinion for that description to be credible even in a game. Anyway, here are the pics: as we've already discussed, the helmet gear appears to be the future French infantry equipment called Felin. US JSF: The JSF is equipped with a new version of the SCAR, except it's in a 6.8mm caliber. The developers have given enough background history to selection of this upgraded caliber and its original origin to even mention that the original Belgian manufacturers (FN Herstal) filed lawsuit for infringements of a patented design when a US firm upgraded it to a new caliber, presumably without input or more importantly royalty fees back to the Belgians. Guys, some of you might be thinking what the hell am I talking about and WHO CARES?!! Well if that's what you're saying you are missing so much of what Ubisoft, Mike DePlater and the rest of the devs team are doing. They are weaving a RICH and deep history for us to be engrossed in. Guys don't be like a simple 10 year old and say I just want to play and blow stuff up. Star Wars or Lord of the Rings or other great movies are GREAT because there's an intricate level of detail and you guys miss all that if you're just focusing on graphics. Anyway, enough of my blabbering, I'm just excited these guys are going to such detail. Oh and I haven't seen anything to give me the impression that this is true, but an Australian preview where I got all this info is saying that the men & WOMEN of the US JSF are the cream of the crop of America's spec op units. Women, I don't know, but it may be that the JSF will also have females in their ranks. Finally for those guys who think I may have pulled alot of this from my you know where, here's the link for the Australian website: http://www.gameplayer.com.au/Home/PREVIEWS/PREVIEWGAME/...0e54fb6fb7&v7Pager=2 By the way, they also went into describing the different factions. There's already a post about that, but something that I haven't read ANYWHERE else is some of the background story regarding Russia, the EU and the Ukraine. Ok, so most of us now have probably read that Endwar is due to the militarization of space, combined with depleting energy reserves and a resurgent Russia, who feels its been shafted by the West. You also may have read that there was a nuclear exchange between Iran and Saudi Arabia, but there are some things you may not have read - quoting directly: 2016: Birth of the European Federation Largely in response to the ongoing energy crisis, nearly all of the EU's member states ratify the European Constitution and unite as a single national entity known as The European Federation (EF). The UK declines federation, but retains close economic and diplomatic ties. 2017: Standoff in Ukraine Seeking to expand its territorial holdings, Moscow succeeds in pressuring Belarus to join the Russian Federation. Ukraine, however, refuses to knuckle under, and in a controversial referendum votes to apply for candidate status with the European Federation. Civil conflict (purportedly fomented by Russian agents) erupts and EF Enforcers rush in to restore order. Russia responds by rolling three tank divisions across the border and shutting down Europe's supply of oil and natural gas via the trans-Belarus and -Ukraine pipelines. After a tense standoff, all sides agree that Ukraine will retain independence for five years and then hold another referendum. Foreign forces withdraw, but an air of mutual distrust remains. Again the link for this info: http://www.gameplayer.com.au/Home/PREVIEWS/PREVIEWGAME/...2b5b71c07f&v7Pager=3 So what do you guys think? Ok, additional info courtesy of a preview from Eurogamer. Highlights are: - they used Google Earth to model many of the places in the game so EVEN though you can't use the game as a street map it IS accurate enough that if you've been in that particular area, you WILL recognize it, they just may have left out the occasional small side street or alley. - The story director, John Gonzalez says there are as much as 25,000 lines of dialogue which comes out to 200K words, which is about 3-4 novels worth of dialogue!Producer Julian Gerighty said: "It's the biggest game in terms of dialogue Ubisoft has ever done." - There are Picture in Picture cutscenes to add extra flavor and drama when you do certain actions like order an electronic strike (cyberwarfare?). - Eurogamer next month will reveal their own personal impressions of gameplay, they do it now, but they're under an NDA. Here's the link for the preview> http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=88593&page=1 Oh, and tell me do you think this bayonet on this Spetsnaz's hip is for decoration OR is it the sweet promise that there will be hand to hand close in combat? UPDATE: A preview from Team Xbox says there will be battles in NYC! See here http://previews.teamxbox.com/xbox-360/1816/Tom-Clancys-EndWar/p1/ This message has been edited. Well, that is slightly ridiculous how one of the EU guys is holding a riot shield in one hand and an assault rifle in the other.
|

yeah but it looks dope...

Awesome post atacms! Great information!
Lord, why do you think it's stupid about the riot shield guy? |

These are the same screens I posted, but atacms has got higher res and describtions, so Mr. Hankey, you may as well lock, or if possible merge my thread with this one.

I didn't say it was stupid. I said ridiculous. Just kinda weird since that gun probably requires 2 hands to operate. Just seems a bit large. Maybe if they switched out the assault rifle for say, an upgraded P90, it would be a-ok. Also, in the concept art, one of the Euro Kommandos has a ghillie suit on. |

well, it's far too small to be considered a riot shield. It's deffinatly a shield thing of some sort. Maybe it has something to do with the EU's forte in microwave weapons and non-lethal tactics? It really doesn't look like he needs a shield with all the armor he's already wearing. So maybe it is some sort of technical device that just kinda looks like a shield. I guess we shall see at some point in time.

TA Sniper, you and I are both on the same wavelength. The front of the "shield" has what looks like a rectangular shaped electronic device. It's just a guess obviously on my part, but I get the impression that it's a minuature handheld version of the LRAD, an acoustic non-lethal weapon that directs sonic energy in a very focused and tight beam. Here's a pic: And some info: http://www.atcsd.com/site/content/view/27/41/ YOu guys are probably noticing that it's on a US vehicle and it's a US inventor, so here's where I beg to differ that the EEC should get the best non-lethal weapons. Anyway, that's a different discussion. This pic: seems to show a similar device on the EEC's wheeled armored vehicle on the left side of the vehicle By the way that vehicle to me looks like the Mowag Piranha IV, what do you guys think? This is the closest I came up with, cause it looks like the Piranha, but some parts also look like the Boxer. Who knows, can anyone help? ----In your application of military force, be just, fair, precise, but to conquer your enemies' will, heart and mind, seek to improve his lot- atacms----- |

Here's another screenshot of the US JSF tank, an Osprey and its bigger cousin, the V-44 in the background.

Nice informantion there- but I do wonder why you go off in a few areas to rant for a second, or advise us to look up women snipers in WWII when that's common knowledge.XD

You're right I'm guilty of ranting, but I do that to try to preempt any quick negative knee jerk reactions others might have on certain topics regarding for example the level of detail on rifle calibers or whether it would make sense to have a female sniper and yes it may seem common knowledge that Russia had female snipers, but there are a few here that might not know that. Ny the way, I added a new screenshot in the original post AND some new info from a preview by Eurogamer. ----In your application of military force, be just, fair, precise, but to conquer your enemies' will, heart and mind, seek to improve his lot- atacms----- |

Nice info atacms. Yeah I'm just completely guessing on the non-leathal tech thing because i can't claim to know anything about that sort of technology. I just figured it would make more sensefor the "shield" to be some form of the EU's microwave tech. I have never heard of any of these Non-lethal things before so thanks for that.

lol, to be honest I'm still trying to decide whether I think the EU helmets look cool or ridiculous. They do look practical though.

You know I wasn't too sure about that myself, they posted it on Friday, which was still technically November, so they should be revealing their gameplay review in December, I hope. ----In your application of military force, be just, fair, precise, but to conquer your enemies' will, heart and mind, seek to improve his lot- atacms----- |

They are practical, but as others have mentioned they look a little retro (as in the day of the samurai). Although offering more protection, I imagine it cuts down on their situational awareness, it's one of the reasons why the US went with the MICH helmet which offered slightly less area coverage than the old Fritz kevlar helmet, however it increased the soldiers' ability to hear better. ----In your application of military force, be just, fair, precise, but to conquer your enemies' will, heart and mind, seek to improve his lot- atacms----- |
